I have real empathy for living through a storm. i’ve survived hurricane Helene, which devastated parts of South Carolina and even more so North Carolina. My car was totaled and my house was damaged. I’m still dealing with the ramifications of the storm and trying to get things repaired and replace my car. It’s amazing how many workmen try to take advantage during the storm and their prices are astronomical. In fact, they are gouging. At the age of 75 it’s a bit much to deal with, but I’m managing. During the storm I took in a sick cat who the vet thinks was hit by a car and his pelvis has been damaged. So I’m decorating for the holidays with a cat in a kennel on my kitchen table. Seems so much more important than holiday decorations. Blessings to you and I’m glad you are safe.
“and Madam doesn’t give a damn.” This made me laugh out loud. So glad the both of you are safe and your home was not damaged. I love how positive you are, too. It’s a skill to be emulated.
Hi Collette, I think you should mention that subscribing to your channel is free. Some of my friends were suprised when I told them that subscribing is free. You always see positives out of negative events. So much better than getting bogged down in it all. You've now got laurel fence posts, you've created shelter for wildlife and you'll have more compost. Wonderful!
The number one most important thing is that you and Patsy are safe and well after the storm. It certainly was a mighty one. I walked out into my garden several times and thought to myself, we are absolutely humbled and powerless against the might of Mother Earth when she decides to let fly (quite literally!) Love and RIP to the trees that were lost but other beautiful things will now be created with them. Also, you planted them, gave them life and helped them to grow and now they will give back by helping to sustain you and Patsy by keeping you warm for the rest of the winter in an all loving give and take relationship.❤
Wow I am from NY I can’t believe all this work you did amazing, Thank God you and you dog are well, plus you lovely home, in this storm, I hope you get some rest between all you work🌲
Hi Colette. I'm glad you two are safe. I had my roof torn off by a northern California storm about 25 years ago. Scary sound. In 2018, I left Ireland during Storm Ali. Everyone on the plane were looking at each other with the quizzical expression, "We're going to be leaving in this?!" I thought, "At least I got to see Ireland before I die."
I'm glad to see Patsy is unphased and snuggled up on the couch in front of the fire. Glad you're both safe and the cottage wasn't damaged. Storm Darragh was awful, I'm not far from castlerea and same at my place I lost a couple trees, the electrics are off all week. Just thankful my old cottage hasn't had any damage I was so worried! These old houses are good to us! Considering solar as a back up because there have been so many storms this year!
Thankyou for this video. Since reading your message about the loss of trees I have been waiting to hear more. My thoughts have been very much with you and the woodland. You are a very resilient and inspirational woman and I admire the way you can see opportunity despite the loss and destruction. You must grieve the loss of your tree friends, however. It is nice that you will honour their memory with the plans you have in mind.
6:38 EVERYONE. Subscribe and 👍. Collette deserves our respect and any finicial she gets from it. Her outlook and all she does is just AMAZING. She loves life and Mother Gaia. Lets all help in this simple way reguardless of other ways? If able. What she does and her and patsy are just beautiful souls. She is beyond and inspiration. Everyone stay safe. BLESS🙏🌻
Hi Colette, so sorry to hear that you lost some of your beautiful trees but as you so rightly say ..... a blessing in disguise as it creates a place for the nesting birds . Good to see that you and patsy are both OK. ❤xxx
Where I live in West Devon, England, my poor neighbor in the next village, had no electricity for 3 days. This happens to us here, as we are out in the sticks! The trouble is, that we are all electric, so a little gas camping stove is a Godsend. Plus the torches that you can push to generate light, without any batteries required. But it makes you so thankful when you can have a hot bath, and cook your food.We are on the end of the power line where I live, so we have to be aware that these things can happen. Sadly, due to my situation now, I can not buy loads of food to make sure I am safe if these things happen. I just have to make do with what I have, and it makes me so thankful for what I have. Blessings to you, from Jilly & Madge. xxx
Colette thank goodness you are safe. Really study the root structure of the downed trees to see if there are any stress markers that could be affecting the rest of your forest. Maybe a Forester could help you. Glad to see Patsy is setting in for the winter ❄️☃️.
pretty much it is the very moist ground of Ireland and the severe winds of a huge storm... hopefully the storms of the tree toppling scale are only once a while....
The stress markers are mainly due to a very thin soil and masses of very deep but near the surface bedrock!! This makes planting and growing trees more difficult as the trees have very little soil to begin with in order to root.
Like everyone else who watches you Colette, I am grateful that you, Patsy and your cottage are all okay. Yes, it is sad that you lost some of your beautiful trees, that you nurtured and gave a home to when they were babies. Now, at the much too early, end of their lives they’ll return the favour you, by providing wood for your fire and ashes for your garden. Then, because of your love for Mother Nature and wisdom, in how you have stacked their branches with such thoughtfulness, care and love they will also help the birds and other wildlife by giving shelter and homes and as they slowly rot away they will once nourish Mother Earth in an age old never ending cycle. You are such a wonderful inspiration and set such a great example to everyone of how to turn lemons into lemonade. I think there are two basic ways to think about these things. ONE is to love and respect Mother Earth and do whatever we can to help her and TWO is to always have an attitude of gratitude and a positive mindset, both of which shine brightly in you! Thank you for all that you do for Mother Earth and in helping us all by leading by example. Much love and many Blessings to you and Patsy 🙏🏻❤🪵🍀
Thank you for all you say and I agree with you and how you see the Earth, because this great mother to us all is more intelligent and far seeing than any government or advisory body!
Dearest Colette , May you Always walk in sunshine May you never want for more May Angels always rest their wings beside your front door . Blessings 🧚🏼♀️🧚🏻🧚🏻♂️✨💕
Oh you poor Darling. To lose a tree let alone more than one is devastating. All those years of growth gone in the blink of and eye. Good news is your safe as is your cute little friend. Big hugs. ❤
Most importantly, you and Patsy are safe. As always, you find a way to think of the positive out of what appeared to be negative with the loss of trees. That, my dear lady, is part of why so many think highly of you. Blessings
Just struck me when I turned on your video that Darragh is my ancestors name from Ireland. Would love to visit. Take care of yourself and your charming space
We’re in West Wales and like you are still waiting for the return of our electricity. The wood stove is keeping the living room very cosy but the lack of running water in the cottage because the pump is off is a pain. The local council has opened the leisure centres for anyone who needs a shower and lots of places are offering recharging facilities for phones etc. We’ve lived here 31 years and have never seen things this bad before. So glad you only lost 4 of your trees. Dozens have come down in our area although the ones on our land have survived.
We had a bad storm in 1987 and we lost trees, sheds and a conservatory. No electricity for 11 days. Storm Darragh was bad here in North West Wales but no damage or power cut. I lay in bed listening to bins and things blowing around.
Greetings Colette, have been a subscriber for quite a few years now and am so very grateful to have found You . Much Love to You and wee Patsy , as everyone has said so glad You are both ok xx from New Zealand . ps Years ago we had a wild storm and lost a couple of Trees in a domino effect but so glad the rest of the Woods held tight with their deep roots . We truly believe we were protected by the largest Trees as we feel we are the Guardians of the land for the last 20 years , so We left the downed Trees to break down slowly , feeding the Beings and Earth and also enjoyed a wee bit more Light . xx
I'm so very glad to see you and Madam Patsy are safe. The falling of trees is truly a natural thing. I love listening to you turn a somewhat sad thing into a gift. Blessings to you
Glad you & Patsy are OK. Here in Birmingham it was terrible too. My porch decided it wanted to resemble Niagara Falls, then I lost some roof tiles & my guttering disappeared. But I guess I'm very lucky it was not more serious. Love to you & Patsy.
You have such a remarkable eye! Your videos are so full of one rich view after another. The crystallized ice on the watering can (or bird bath?) was gorgeous! Thank you
I’m in Queensland Australia…and we are in the beginning of Cycle Season…we have had thunderstorms with driving rain, golf ball size hail and thousands of lightning strikes every afternoon which has caused major flooding everywhere…so I sympathise with you regarding clean up after all the rain..I still cannot open my back door with out a screwdriver because the wood is still swollen and the front door isn’t much better …the humidity will not go away to allow things to dry out. I wish you all the best because I know from experience things eventually settle down but it is just Mother Nature showing us her disagreement with climate change and how she is being abused.
Yes the storm was awful and I just listen to it howl all night i was very frightened. I had trees down as well and I know how it feels, a big sinking feeling. Glad You,Patsy and cottage all ok.
Living alone and during a violent storm is not for the faint of heart. I feel you! However, there is no substitute for living close to nature despite Mother's Nature's wrath..
Firstly, I'm... like everyone ... so happy you and Patsy and the cottage are safe. It sounds like you have wonderful plans for what the storm has left you. Thank you for sharing with us. Blessings.
Good to hear from you Collette! I have been worried about you and Patsy. Your place will be spectacular in the Spring with all of that pruning you got done. I mentioned your channel on a Facebook website that I am on for Gardening yesterday, so I hope you get some new members here who will be so interested in your work there at your beautiful cottage and land. People need to SUBSCRIBE! I hope your electricity comes back on very soon. Hugs from central Texas!
Colette, you are such an inspiration. You are tenacious! I’m a 40 yr old mom of four, going back to school for environmental science and dreaming of a little plot of nature but I worry so many days that when that finally happens I’ll notbe able to physically do it. But you give me hope I will be able to! My husband is not a nature type so I know it’ll be my own hands always too. Thank you, I hope the holidays and new year bless you!
Hi Colette, I am so glad to hear that you are okay. I was wondering about you today. I knew that you had lost trees because of your message and hope that the rest of your lovely woodland is safe. As you say it is disheartening to see the damage but you are right, all things can be seen as a new possibility. I am just glad to know that you and Patsy are safe and well. Blessings to you and the wee girl. Much love to you Debs X
Aren’t these the first real loss of trees you have had in 20 years Colette? The woodland is constantly evolving and will benefit from the clearing l am sure.👏
Good to hear that you and your sweet Pasty are doing well. I know it was heartbreaking for you to lose your trees, but I know you will make good use of them.Blessings to you.
I'm grateful that you are Patsy are healthy and safe. Prayers for all of your neighbors that have been affected as well. We, in my part of the world, are expecting a snowstorm tonight and tomorrow. I'm working on my dog food for our 3 today and making sure we have lots of batteries and candles and water as well as gas for the generator. I like being ready, it eases my anxiety. Heavy, wet snow and ice are no joke.
Hi Colette- I've subbed several years now- I share them and like them and make the comments- love what you share with us.❤💚 good to see you and dear little missy staying warm
I understand what you’re going through. There is a lot of work ahead but as gardeners who love to garden, we welcome the opportunity. I just went through hurricane Milton, and I’m so thankful I still have my home.
I'm in Cotswolds at foot of Cleeve Hill and I'll be chopping up trees for weeks at the rate I'm going with no power tools 🙃 but we just have to get on and carry on ❤with love xxx I always like your films too x
Oh thank goodness YOU @dear PATSY are OK❤.. We had a time of it in DEVON TOO ,,, trees down all over the place... WELL WE GOT THROUGH IT... BLESSINGS TO YOU MY DEAR ❤️🙏❤️
Good morning, Colette. I'm so happy to see that you and Patsy survived Storm Darragh. You will have a lot of work but also some cuttings for garden structures and wood to use to keep you warm. It will also be nice to have areas of habitats for woodland friends. Take care. Stay strong. Blessings to you and Patsy. ❤
I was thinking of you and Patsy this morning and hoping to hear you’re both okay and made it through the storm. Was glad when I saw you posted this video. 😊
This is a perfect example of having a positive attitude… Nature served you lemons, and you are making lemonade… Already thinking of how you can use the fallen trees and what you will create in their space.
I’m glad too that your roof stayed on! …and that you both stayed warm. Losing the trees is sad but you’ll replant and the surrounding growth will take the space. Beautiful there even in the darker days!♥️🐇
Be careful when you cut off fallen trees with the soil still on them. The soil is heavy and when you cut the trunk the soil chunk will snap back onto the ground and the cut trunk will snap as well. Be sure to step back when that happens. It is dangerous.
Yes, what a transformation! The driveway - lane is now all covered with overarching trees:) I think you are a very brave woman to have stuck with the hardships and challenges; marking your own life with your own ideals and work ethic. I wish more women were like you!
Really pleased you are both safe. I know your heart is sore about losing the trees. Take heart your connection with Mother Earth will see things blossom again. ❤
I have lived on the gulf of Mexico all my life; hurricanes are part of life. I can relate with you and Patsy’s experiences. Patsy does have the right idea. 😉 As long as there is a pot of coffee and some tinned chicken and chips we can survive. The cleanup is the worse though. So glad you and Patsy are safe. Even the damaged areas are magical.
The painting on the wall over your left shoulder is so pretty, I like how the light is slowing moving in over dark. Glad you and the little minx are safe❤️ ps the white stone on the wood stove is lovely.
Dear Colette, God has protected you and your sweet girl, Patsy. So hard to see trees brought down in a storm. But as you reminded us, nature is making room for the next princess/prince of Bealtaine cottage. Glad your safe, take care. Jersey Ann from NJ in USA🌳🌳
Wow!!! I’m glad you and Patsey are all right. I living in North Carolina foothills had survived Hurricane Helene, the mountain areas are still trying to recover and the people who had died are still being found. I pray your beautiful home which is now more open due to down trees will be reborn in spring. Where I live I have not had snow yet and today it will be in the 6os more like spring.
Thank YOU. They are very soothing and im in recovery from treatment and find it all so peaceful. Im adopting a severely neglected garden and looking for bargains and bits xx@bealtainecottage
Hurricane Helene came in September and devastated North Carolina, Virginia and South Carolina. People are living in tents now waiting for help. Its so sad
Enjoyed the walk & discription of the projects you've done. Encouraged to continue my journey of planting. Hearing the birds was a treat. Blessings to you.
Glad you and sweet Patsy are in one piece! And the cottage too. Sorry about the tree loss…I always feel so bad when I lose an old friend. FYI: here in the states the material around the inside of the door on the stove is referred to as a casket. It is easily obtained on line or Amazon. All you will need is the new casket and a high heat casket cement to attach it to the door. Again, glad you two are ok! 🌲❤️🌲
So glad to hear that yourself and Patsy are safe and well after the storm. My cottage is still standing ,and no damage done which I’m so thankful for . All my trees are still standing , but my poly tunnel took flight and is in pieces 😂. I planted a beautiful White thorn last year and as you know it’s such a Majikal tree….she is only little and she survived the storm. Very proud of her.🦋Love watching your videos .Lots of blessings to you and Patsy 💜
Politicians could care less. They're busy watching mother nature crumble into their pockets. But don't worry. Mother nature always has the last word. ❤
So sorry about the storm damage but glad you and Patsy are ok. Looking forward to the new look come Spring at Bealtaine Cottage. Thought I heard a cuckoo. Blessings.❤
Having lived in Florida many hurricanes, I can honestly say I know how you feel. It is devastating but oddly beautiful with the sound of the wind and rain. The video of you boiling your coffee outside with that wind blowing and almost daylight that was very beautiful. I’m glad you and Patsy are safe and well .Patsy looks beautiful sitting on that sofa. All Christmasy and cute.
Hello Colette from snowy New Hampshire. It may be a new concept to you, but I have a feeling most You Tube watchers should know to " LIKE" and " SUBSCRIBE". But do keep mentioning it. I do not use Facebook, Instagram, etc, so You Tube is my favorite. Here we have a winter wonderland. My kitchen wood stove going to the tune where I am walking around in a cotton jersey and summer shorts! Our small town librarian is going to drop off books for me at our main farm. I am not budging from the cottage! Your holiday decorating is lovely. Glad that you and Patsy are safe!
The hoarfrost is beautiful. Darragh must have been horrific to go through at night. To lose those.trees ......but...dear Patsy is so secure with you...curled on the sofa near the fire......oh how I miss my fireplaces...and I know that with your strength and fortitude, your place shall be put to rights again.
I am praying for you Barbara Dobson and your injured stray cat. Godspeed. 💜🙏🏻💜
Bless you for taking care and pity on that poor cat.
Sounds as if you guys had horrific experiences. Love and huge best wishes to you
Thank you...Kitty will bring you good luck
All the best Barbara and hoping it's more peaceful now and all the best to the kitty you kindly took in. Take care 🎄🐈⬛💚🙏
“and Madam doesn’t give a damn.”

Patsy’s blasé attitude is Refreshing ! 🐶😂😂. As for the Woodland… Let there be Light !!! And may your electricity return SOON. 🔥🫖☕ -V
So glad you, Patsy, and the cottage are fine and unharmed! Sad about the trees, though. The woodland looks beautiful in the frost.
Blessings! ❤

Hello Lady, glad you’re ok. Bless the trees that fell and the ones still standing. Bless you and wee Patsy 💖
So glad everyone is safe and sound
I'm in Cotswolds at foot of Cleeve Hill and I'll be chopping up trees for weeks at the rate I'm going with no power tools 🙃 but we just have to get on and carry on ❤with love xxx I always like your films too x
Oh thank goodness YOU @dear PATSY are OK❤.. We had a time of it in DEVON TOO ,,, trees down all over the place... WELL WE GOT THROUGH IT... BLESSINGS TO YOU MY DEAR ❤️🙏❤️
Happy to hear that!
one of my favorite scenes you shared is the frost on the boxwood. Simply beautiful. You're as resilient as Mother Earth. Many blessings to you.
I was thinking of you and Patsy this morning and hoping to hear you’re both okay and made it through the storm. Was glad when I saw you posted this video. 😊
I'm glad to see all is well after storm Darragh, Colette. It was a pretty scary storm!
We all love watching you !❤
Thank you for all you do 🙂🙏🏻
Ps keep your chin up and stay strong !🌻
Your winter garden is so beautiful ❤️
Blessings, Colette 💫🌟💫
Fantastic ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is a perfect example of having a positive attitude… Nature served you lemons, and you are making lemonade… Already thinking of how you can use the fallen trees and what you will create in their space.
So glad its over! I hope you recover quickly!😊🙏
Thank you for the reminder. Safety comes first!
That was a big storm Colette. Sorry you lost your trees. At least your home is safe. Blessings to you and Patsy.
God is so good you and Patsy are safe....blessings❤😊
So glad you're okay. Storms or no storms, still wish I lived there. Many Blessings ❤
Keep Warm Goddess 🌎
Yes, what a transformation! The driveway - lane is now all covered with overarching trees:) I think you are a very brave woman to have stuck with the hardships and challenges; marking your own life with your own ideals and work ethic. I wish more women were like you!
Thank you, Ellen, but I love to work and create for it makes me happy 😊
Happy to hear your both safe...and your roof is intact! Blessings of the season to you love ❤🎉
Really pleased you are both safe. I know your heart is sore about losing the trees. Take heart your connection with Mother Earth will see things blossom again. ❤
What a powerful storm! Talk about the Winds of Change! Rebirth and renewal time. Stay well. 👍😎🇨🇦🙏🌲✨️💝🐾❄️
Thank goodness you’re safe & warm !

Happy you made it through the storm. I make a point of liking your videos as soon as I begin to watch them. I know they will be good.
I appreciate that!
Hurricane Helene came in September and devastated North Carolina, Virginia and South Carolina. People are living in tents now waiting for help. Its so sad
This is both absolutely outrageous and an impossible burden on the survivors!
Enjoyed the walk & discription of the projects you've done. Encouraged to continue my journey of planting. Hearing the birds was a treat. Blessings to you.
Safe and warm you both ❤ that makes me happy ...a lot of work you doing 🍂 hugs xxx
Thank you 🙏
So glad to hear that yourself and Patsy are safe and well after the storm.
It’s always good to be thankful for the small things in life XXX
Glad you and Patsy made it through the storm safely🙏
Lots of good wishes to you Collette. So many challenges.
Such a beautiful place 😊
Politicians could care less. They're busy watching mother nature crumble into their pockets. But don't worry. Mother nature always has the last word. ❤
So sorry about the storm damage but glad you and Patsy are ok. Looking forward to the new look come Spring at Bealtaine Cottage. Thought I heard a cuckoo. Blessings.❤
Thank you for sharing. I've been thinking about you, and worried since I first knew about the storm. Sending good wishes from Ohio ❤
Out of the devastation comes opportunity for new growth. 🌲
Glad, you are fine ! Greetings from Germany, Kerstin
Good to survive and restore. So sorry for the lost trees. My turn today in Massachusetts.
Glad you are safe! I received your lovely book yesterday. Love from Mallorca.
Awesome! Thank you!
Hi Colette, So sorry to hear about your trees and glad that you and little Patsy are OK, keep safe! Blessings to you and Patsy ❤❤
Hiya Colette Thankyou for sharing. Blessings southern Ontario Canada 🐝🇨🇦
Darragh must have been horrific to go through
at night. To lose those.trees ......but...dear Patsy is so secure with you...curled
on the sofa near the fire......oh how I miss my fireplaces...and I know that
with your strength and fortitude, your place shall be put to rights again.
So glad you and Patsy and your cottage are ok..it is very hard to see the damage out there…like losing old friends…💚😢 But Nature will renew herself.
You are quite right!
