History of the Heartland's Doug Hagen Scholarship

At a ceremony Sept. 15, 2023, held at MacArthur High School, the MacArthur Class of 1964 presented a check to the Decatur Public Schools Foundation to honor the memory of their classmate, Doug Hagen.
The ceremony, hosted by History of the Heartland, was attended by Decatur Public Schools Superintendent Rochelle Clark, MacArthur Principal Cordell Ingram, Decatur Public Schools Foundation Executive Director Zach Shields, and many members of the Class of 1964, who travelled from across the country.
We planned, when we started the scholarship, to raise enough money to sustain the scholarship in perpetuity. When the Class of 1964 learned of this plan, they rallied to raise the balance needed to push the scholarship fund past the threshold to fund the scholarship forever. And today, they did it. With their $6601.11 check, they have ensured that the Hagen Scholarship is funded forever.
