There is no country with this level of centralization that works. You have to break problems down to smaller parts in order to solve them, this is basic knowledge.

The Nigerian vice president is from the north and he doesn't want to hear from people that speak like you. He is bent on making sure state police doesn't happen. The north doesn't want to loose their grip on the guns in Nigeria which they are holding on to the southerners heads through the police and the military. Plus both forces are major source of employment for the northerners. Now you can see that the geographic entity called Nigeria is a charade.

State police is not negotiable, Nigeria federal police has failed, soldiers can't be doing the work of police, when you go to police station you will be requested to pay for mobilization and provide your own vehicle, no toll free emergency number, IGP has nothing to tell us

The NPF are simply concerned about negotiating bumper budgetary without much constructive ideas in dealing with overwhelming catastrophe causing the death of too many citizens needlessly. There is no way Nigeria can move forward without reintroducing the State police who are majorly more respected than outdated white elephants.

But the north still wants to have that power to hold a gun on everyone's head using the federal police and the military that they dominate. Do you think they would give up easily? The vice president has been lobbying to makr sure that state police fails. They are deceiving people.

Yes, Governors will abuse the system. But so is the federal govt abusing it.
    So what's the difference.

Imagine what few people is saying just few people is putting over 200 and something Nigeria in this mess, those refusing state policing really do not want Nigeria to move forward,Nigeria is dead 😵

The north doesn't want it because that is one of their major advantages and you want to take it away. Don't be deceived by a few pretending like that is what they want. They are playing good cop and bad cop - joking with the lives of Nigerians. The south should stand strong and demand state police. Looks like it is time for Nigeria's dissolution.

Nigeria need forward think leaders not people who seem to be mentally stagnant or non innovative. It's difficult to make progress without making change.

Why is it in Nigeria that they invite members of the diplomatic corp to most events? It doesn’t happen in other countries

What is required is a well thought out process and approach. There is no doubt that the state police is needed but the possible abuse by Governors - Wike and Yahaya Bello are a case in point, is an obvious concern. The NPF needs to be re-organised, merged with the EFCC, to handle Federal matters. Let’s find out how it works in Germany and Australia and then adapt to suit our peculiar circumstances. Including all stakeholders, lawyers, judges, traditional rulers etc in how this would be done would help. A gradual transition would also help such as starting the process in Lagos, Kaduna, Rivers.

State Police is workable. Abuse is only a poor excuse. Anything and anyone could abuse their power. What is important is putting a proper framework of state police. Other nations who did it successfully can be approached for guidance. Truth is the current level of security is an obvious statement that the present structure of central control is a big failure not fit for a modernized and restructured Nigeria. Anyone saying Nigeria is not ripe for state police should be seen as a big part of the problem.

  • @DouglasDimunah
    @DouglasDimunah Місяць тому +2

You don’t expect Nigerian police leadership to support state police because they want to stay in Abuja and control other states. Federal police structure is a complete failure. We don’t only need state police we also need local government police. Abuse is everywhere, even the federal police structure has been abused. State police is the answer no two words about it. It’s very selfish to say that we don’t need state police or that we are not ready. States that can afford it should be allowed to establish state police. At least start with a small state force that can be expanded with time.

I like how the government is distracting the people with "state police" and they are just eating it up. Truly, the line between hopefulness and naivety is almost invisible.😂😂

60 years of federal police system has failed to produce good results. So why continue it when there is an option to try.

Not one is against State Police but let us do advantages and Disadvantages cost Benefit analysis before introducing the system and again let us model it to our own country specifics.
The current Federal Police system has not fully been harnessed and implemented

Good luck Jonathan has no back bone.
Did the military scrap state policing because of the abuse? The answer is no. The military soke aim is to centralize and galvanize power to themselves.
There's no record of police abuse in the history of Nigeria 1960-1966.

To me it was definitely them attacking or other inside abuse actually as well as other they can't give back and retract more in this plus other ways many just ignored the inside conflict and went on forward with loads of both things here many were trapped in addiction or other abuses to me was still other things here backlash ob what was physically happening as well as other things here with other things like the ongoing issues with the bullying or they delaying the program and progress here was still going on in their chemical industry inside these worse they wanted to keep it going on with this rather then taking on responsibility for what they were doing they rather decoy the ongoing facts are they were rallying around the party mode rather than the facts in this on active abuses on the system to more but assembly was a huge gain in regulating these things but still its hostel results rather than responsibilities I was hoping more facts come out on it but still they have the right to anonymity in addiction but they definitely have to turn in thd results not like they been not found in fair testing as well but still its the ongoing they said on weeding them out to more on on faith bases but what that intels on massive level to more than that on what their interests or intentions were from the way we are seeing the abuses coming from other influences caused more than that on not telling us accurate information or worse buying up areas to harm more people rather then merging in their communities

The IGP is on point. The Federal Police should continue to exist, State Police should be under the oversight of the Federal Police including recruitment training and supervision and performance evaluation.
