One key point about D-Scan to stress with new players: Not ALL ships show up on D-Scan. Most notably, cloaked ships do NOT show up on D-Scan. (Note: A lot of gankers fly around in cloaked ships for this reason. They will be essentially invisible to you, until the moment when they decloak to gank you.) Also, a bit less common, but: Combat Recon ships (Curse, Rook, Lachesis, and Huginn) also do not show up on D-Scan. But in summary, the most important thing to remember: Not all ships show up on D-Scan, most notably cloaked ships.
Valuable video but you forgot to mention that its possible to select things from overview, tightening scan angle - this is very fast way to find someone without opening system's panel which can be crowded sometimes. This way you can search for Triglavian fleets for example.
dscan is so powerful, once you learn to use it regularly it is an incredible tool... i am not even good at modifying my angle and it has saved my butt or gotten me green on the KB so many times - our scouts are incredibly powerful with dscan I wish I was as good as they were
As a professional EVE Noob of...nearly 4 days, I am now shocked that I've been inside 7 wormholes and only got ganked one time. Local chat! Who knew everyone would be listed there? Freaking cloaked ships! I'm a 688 veteran gamer so you got me with the sub-hunting analogy. I'm figuring out your overlays tonight and I'll start practicing Dscan for the win or at least being able to explore some wormholes with less risk :)
2010, my first wardeck. Did not know, payed 300m in damages from getting pod killed in 0.9 space. This is very useful information for anyone new or entering the game. Also a reminder that you are not safe anywhere.
good video on D-scan. not a single day goes by in this game without me using it constantly. both for offencive and defencive purposes. intel 95% of the fight, and you shouldent engage someone unless you know what ship they flying, and D-scan are in most cases the tool needed to get that information.

my game will not autosave. ever had that problem before??? this is my 3rd forced restart. every time i long back into eve online. i must start over and i loss everything i had. how do i fix this????
I could get more information from d scan if i knew what i was doing. Brilliant insight. I dont know what im doing thats why i subjected myself to to this verbal excrement. If i press a v and move a mouse this way and that way while clicking scan... i still have no idea where anything is

nope! you have to change the direction on the actual directional scanner menu
