    I try to imagine what it is like to walk 25 to 30 miles a day in such moutainous and difficult terrain. At the age of 66, with a pace-maker, it takes me all day to go ten miles on fairly even terrain........ah, to be young again. Walk on, love your videos, Darwin.

    Thanks! This is such a great x-section of your days, your trek - - we at home love to see this, and the gear / techniques that keep you at home on the trail. Keep on keeping on! The Bowl, the water, the 'stop', the snake, the not-getting-blown-over ... done up to dinner; catching more tomorrow! - Thanks. /paul/

    I have a soft spot for Chimney Peak and Long Valley Campgrounds. They really are hidden gems. We could hike the Kern River and Plateau. As of yesterday Kennedy Meadows and above campgrounds are still safe from the active fire in the area.

    Watching you day hike the rim to rim in the grand canyon inspired me to do the same. Hiked north to south rim two days ago, June 12, in 10.5 hours with a peak temperature of 107 degrees. I'll be in California tomorrow and hoping to get a walk in permit for the JMT. Maybe I'll run into you on the trail.
    Hike on,

    Really enjoying your hike along the PCT. You are preparing for snow , ice and cold temps as you hike along. That has to be nice plus you have a puffy jacket on as you tell us about everything. Here in Florida we are in the triple digits for the heat index with Super storms ( lighting and heavy wind thunder storms ) almost every day. Since it's hurricane season naturally there is Tropical storm talk for next week. As the realtors like to say , location , location , location in this case it really determines the weather. lol

    Hey Darwin, curiously as to why you went with the smaller BV450 instead of the BV500? There are some long stretches in the Sierra between resupply and the snow may make for some slow going.

  • @michaelb1761
    @michaelb1761 6 років тому

    I see that I'm not the only one who uses a BV450 in the Sierra. The BV500 was just too big to work with my current pack and other gear. Besides, I can get 21,000 calories of food that I like in it, which lasts me 7 days between resupplies. Good enough for me.
