    This was actually a solid review! I've been looking for some "cheap" bodies to use for all of my random controller projects and this is seriously tempting. I love that you actually did a teardown. Thank you for that!

    Bought it recently and tbh, I'm impressed by the concept itself. Played on self build pads for over 20 years and tried a this Mix Box. Learning curve is very low and it can almost do everything other controlers can do.
    Wanted to replace the buttons and keys though but as you have shown, they are soldered. But I will give it a try and modify it a little.
    Thanks for the teardown, saved me a lot of headache.

    if i wanted to change the entire button to gamerfinger buttons, is it as simple as stripping the ends and crimping .110 connectors on the wires? i know there are notches in the button holes that will probably have to be shaved down as well

      I have carpal tunnel, is less taxing for practice sessions because there's no grip needed, is like a different version of the Hitbox, also a lot of pro players are switching to key imput instead of stick for Charge characters and more accurate imput.

    • @MakeYourOwnFun
      @MakeYourOwnFun  2 роки тому

      I'm not too familiar with keyboard switches so when I tore this down I couldn't immediately tell if the switches were swappable. All I knew was that the actually switch holder itself was soldered in but that may be how it's supposed to be.

    Excellent review. I think I'll purchase. Tell me though, I've noticed the the shoulder buttons for ps4 are arse about. There is R1 R2 on the left and vise versa. Can this easily be modded or, is that how they all are?

    • @yalborap
      @yalborap 2 роки тому +1

      Most fighting game controllers are set up like this, because the way you get Street Fighter style six-button controls on a normal gamepad is to put your heavies on the right shoulder and then use left shoulder for macros. That said, physically swapping the buttons in a stick is not hard at all if one wanted to use it for more generalist gaming.

    Do you think given a cable swap and some soldering that a Brooke pcb would work in this?

    • @MakeYourOwnFun
      @MakeYourOwnFun  3 роки тому

      Thanks for watching! I think if you're ok with a bit of cutting and removing of plastic then there's a lot of space to do a board swap. In the bottom half of the case there's basically nothing there so if you have a good mounting solution like pcb standoffs then it should work.

      @@TheBobimkd123 Hey, sorry I just realised the answer to your question, the USB port I show at 05:20 is actually for PS4/Xbox One controllers. You put one in that port then you plug the fightstick in the console and then the console sees that you've plugged in the controller. It's kind of annoying but it's a way a lot of controller makers get around having to make native functionality with modern systems.

    looks cool, but yeah agreed looks weird without a joystick... looks more like controller msdos PC style buttons on the part where the joystick is. Myself personally could not play on one of these things, would need either an xbox controller or joystick. This seems ideal for arcade fighting games only.
