I know im boring but I tuned a few cars back in the day and I feel like a mostly stock e46 m3 is as perfect as it gets, including leaving it naturally aspirated
@@inwithsliminwithjim3416With equal drivers in dry conditions, there would be no contest (vs the supercharged car). Slicks are just that much better than any road tyre. I went up against an F80 M4 on slicks at Oulton and he couldn't keep up, but that was mainly due to track knowledge. I think the M4 is a more capable car with equal tyres and suspension setup though.
Power usually drops lap times much more when slicks are used since the power can be put down. It becomes a little more interesting on 300 treadwear tires
In my personal opinion, a supercharger on the track needs improved intercooler. Water-cooled ideally. Heat soak makes it difficult to monitor lap times based on driver improvements throughout the day Edit: I had an aftermarket supercharged exige running about 8-9psi and it would heatsoak a lot on the track. It felt like zero boost by the end of the day and lap times fell. My buddy with an elise and nicer BOE aftermarket water-cooled blower had consistent power.
I think the s54 should stay in its intended naturally aspirated forum of glory. But I think superchargers are cool if you don’t care about losing that na greatness, and don’t wanna spend the insane amount of money you have to spend to make sub 400 wheel hp on an s54.
The thing is the centrifugal superchargers for the S54 do keep the intended naturally aspirated form of glory, it just gives you much much more of it. It's linear, builds power as it revs, and boost is built as it revs so peak boost is at redline. You get an increase in torque, but it also comes on in a similar manner to the NA motor, just a bit more of it. It literally keeps the same characteristics, you just get a ton more.
@@I53-624 It only enhanced the sound on mine, you don’t lose anything on sound. I have an E36 M3 and after 9 years of ownership I went with a Rotrex kit. Awesome Contant guys. It’s just a shame the sound was so bad you almost can’t hear the cars. And it’s always worth it to get a supercharger on the M3 😅💪🔥
To be honest I don't think it's worth 10k. But it's worth supercharging the M3. It's impressive for a 2000/2006 car to achieve 500+ hp. Iam supercharged too but there is a lot more involved than just putting in the supercharger kit.
if you're going to have really loud intro music, maybe you should at least increase the rest of the video's sound levels in the editing program to match
Should’ve swapped cars for an scientific experiment 😂 Both great cars and great drivers. I thought the guy with the N/A drove more smoothly but obviously the boost with the other shot him off quicker out of the corners. Well done both of you 🏆 🏆
... or if you buy a dead M3 with a supercharger on it, poach the charger, then sell off the entire rest of the car in bits, you can actually do it for minus £2000
@@MotorAddicts was a bit understeery, and lacked torque, you had to drive like a loon on the road to crank it sideways, people think they are easy to drift, with tall ratios and low torque, they are actually quite hard to get sideways unless friction is low, you have plenty of space to play, or you can run out second and third with a clear sight line
The supercharged engine is stock, running water/methanol injection, uprated radiator, and with everything refreshed: headgasket, rod bearings, vanos, timing chain guides, oil chain and tensioner etc.
As one who owns a supercharged E46 M3 Coupe 6spd, and installed it himself, yes, it’s 100% worth it!
I know im boring but I tuned a few cars back in the day and I feel like a mostly stock e46 m3 is as perfect as it gets, including leaving it naturally aspirated
As long as you can pay your bill's and keep the wife happy yes definitely worth getting supercharger
That's the plan!
@@MotorAddicts - normally only 1 is ever achievable tho😂😂😂😂

How do you think a stock F80 M3 would stack up with Pilot Sport 4S tyres. I can bring mine next time, just as a measure against these beautiful E46’s!

You guys keep talking trash on him spending 10k for a supercharger but won’t say anything about the dude spending 3k for his Csl intake manifold lol
Two amazing cars! Pete's supercharged is phenomenal and very well handled with some impressive lightning fast saves eg 13:37/8 🏆
Blyton is just up the road from me !
Great video, two perfect track day cars, and nice owners.
Yes they are!
That smg transmission has got to be worth at least a second, probably more.
depends on the tune its almost as quick as dct too so

Would love to see Camber & Combustion's Matt & Alex battling it out! Those pair would put on a great show!!!
Two great cars, two good friends and a track to drive and enjoy 😉👍 Well done lads
Glad you enjoyed it
Been in Peters car at Anglesey and it is was bending space-time. Hes a great driver too!
They are both very good drivers
4 secs a lap quicker over 10 laps is alot of difference

Very cool to see this. I'm getting a 3.3l motor installed right now and my brother in law is considering a supercharger for his. Should be interesting
Just 1 second difference in racing is alot think it's 6 or 8 car lengths bud 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Excellent comparison episode. Not many vids around comparing real owners track cars 👍
Both looked pretty quick considering it's a smallish track
Thanks again chaps
Our pleasure!
Another great vid, glad the Series went ahead, small suggestion could you tape the cables down so they're not flapping around in shot please.. 😉
We will get there, the 2nd series should be a lot better. We learnt from the first
@@MotorAddicts Great news, looking forward to it, the BMW contents been very cool.
Nice laps , good driving 👌
I think it’s time to put some slicks on the fusion and take back my lead!
Oh, you want to start an arms race now? I might be forced to ditch the creature comforts and go 'full race car'!
You got me at over 500bhp so yeah worth it bud 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Agreed

How did he get to 370? What mods? Supercharged engine is stock with just boost and meth?

They’re 333 hp stock, the CSL intake is good for 15hp and it’s probably got an ecu tune that is another 25.
343 in Europe
@Squashed8Ball so they're measuring via crank, not brake. Gotcha.
I think the European cars actual have more power as they don't have primary cats in the headers
