Many years ago (I am 81) I asked a friend how her house was always tidy. She said that every evening before she went to bed she walked around her house and put everything where it belonged. She picked up soiled clothes, put them in the hamper, put away papers and magazines and filled the kitchen sink with hot water and soaked the dirty dishes (this was before we had dishwashers). She hated waking up to a messy house. I tried it - and it works.

@@normanash5289 I'm so incredibly exhausted before bed most nights that just getting TO bed is a chore. So, that approach doesn't work for everyone. For getting rid of stuff or keeping it.... We moved from a 2600 sq ft home into an RV. We have two 40 ft containers. One serves as a storage and the other is outfitted with electric, water, heat and air. It serves as extra living space and laundry. We decided to build our own 1100 sq ft home. Not have it built but build it ourselves. It's been just over 3 years, we are finally moving stuff in and finishing up and should be living in the house by Christmas. I had to do A LOT of deciding on what to keep and what to let go. So, if I can replace it for $20 or less in under 20 mins it's gone. To be honest, I'm still going through things, because my tastes have changed or I've discovered I just really don't need so much stuff, mainly clothes.
I love the under 20 and 20 min rule. And also if my tastes have changed it’s not terrible to let go. It’s the items that I might could need but for sure don’t need now. Those are the tricky ones

Donate it all! Things deteriorate over time. Point in question, my mother in law passed away leaving all her well looked after expensive clothes hanging in her wardrobe. Her devoted husband left them hanging there for six long years & finally when he gave permission to go through them, they were all ruined, which in my opinion was such a waste! Someone could’ve been wearing them had he donated them. So after witnessing that happen, I have it written in my will that my garments etc are to be gone through, kept for my daughters or donated.
I love the way your pets are playing a whole other small vignette scenario piece while you were talking about being friends with the municipal lady ! It’s like a play within a play ! 😂
I get rid everything I can. 😂 I used to hold onto things but then I started following Dana K White and Cass the clutterbug. Now I know what clutter bug I am so I know how to organize my stuff and I know what my clutter threshold is so I know how much I can keep.
I live in San Antonio and we are known for our super cold weather. Okay, that is a lie. BUT, yes I do have a jacket in the closet for that one week in a decade where it actually gets cold enough to put one on. BUT, I also have a super thick sweater that takes up WAY too much space but I look super cute in it and refuse to give it up. No one else would look as cute in it as I do!! That's my story! LOVE the Sweet Potato mug at the end. Too cute!
I’m British and I still prefer coffee! ☕️ coffee is life! I also have half full coffee cups around my home! 😂❤ you make me laugh! Great video Beth ❤ your home is beautiful 🤩
great video, Beth! an idea for your older vacuum ~ put it upstairs for you and the kids to use on those rooms. yes, when i see the numbers of cups and glasses in your dishwasher i am amazed. i use the same insulated vessel to drink out of all day, every day. if my son and grandson use a cup, they use the same one all day. you guys could try that and reduce the amount of dishes you have to clean. also, i seem to notice stuff left on your counter that the kids might have left after fixing themselves something to eat. your kids are old enough to put the things away after using and putting their dishes in sink after using. that would free up counter space and how much you have to do. it's a valuable lesson on having to clean up your own messes, as well. so they shouldn't leave PB and jelly, etc on counter. seal up bread and put back in pantry, etc. my grandson is almost 12 and has been doing that for years. and if your son is learning to make his own mac n cheese, he can learn to wash a pot, or at least put it in sink to soak. i get upset when you call yourself lazy too. i guess it's a trigger word for me, as my mom has called me lazy my entire life. you are a wife, mom of 3, teacher, pet mom to many and friend. so why would you think your home should be tidy all the time?! those are full time jobs already! kitchen and laundry will never end with so many humans in your house! so, be nice to you. you are so far from lazy. you are a great mom, wife, pet mom, and more, so cut yourself some slack. do what you can and forgive the rest. and i have depression and adhd and understand the paralysis. but, that is a condition you deal with and would be understanding of others with it. my mom worked full time and had a magnet on the fridge that said, "this house is clean enough to be healthy, but dirty enough to be happy." i love that. who cares if things are lying around a bit. you'll get to it when you can. and, i personally love your cute, dirty feet. going barefoot all the time will do that! so ignore the haters!! i'm jealous b/c i always went barefoot until this year. i started getting diabetic ulcer last dec and after it healed, it seems the only way it stays away is for me to wear my shoes, with special insoles, from time i get up til time i go to bed and i hate it. so, you go barefoot all you want, girlfriend!!
I have a few suggestions for your laundry room! You may not like them but here goes 🤞🙃 If the room is wide enough, what if you put another counter (say 2 to 3 metres long) along the wall opposite the washer, dryer and sink? Then buy some table legs and attach them to the counter. Then you could have all of the dog food containers, treat containers etc on it as well use it as a folding station? The kitty litter box can stay underneath and also maybe have a roll out laundry hamper for the dirty washing if there's enough space. It looks like there is but I might be wrong. Another idea is to move the kitty litter box into the garage if there's room (and of course if they would like it) and install a cat flap in the door that goes to the garage? It will mean training the cats to do their business out there but it will free up a lot of floor/storage space for you. Not sure if you like these ideas or if any of this would work! 🤔 Anyway it's how my mind works and I hope it helps in some way! 😁😊 Love sweet potato at the end. Super cute!!
Hi Beth, your laundry room is really cute and neat! I'm fascinate with the litter box/cave😂! So cool, we have the tipical plastic thingy with a coverage... Couldn't you please try to film a moment of sweet potato doing that couch nibbling/kibbling with your dog? ❤❤ Your home is so big, requires a lot of consistency and organisation. You got back on track and that's really admirable. I would have been totally overwhelmed, not knowing where and with what to start. 😮 For now: a ☕❤️ and do the school run. Have a pleasant rest of the week😊
Enjoyed this video! It's okay to let go of something you aren't using, especially for your mental sanity. I also have animals and totally appreciate how rude and lazy they are by just following you around while cleaning and just doing absolutely nothing to help. Lol. Have a great day!!!
Make sure the cats don't have a plastic bowl, they prefer stainless steal or ceramic. I love your vids, I get stuck, I call it stop mode where I don't have the mind set or energy to do anything, then things get over whelming and I don't know where to start. I am declutter ring at the moment. Got some big plastic bins and I'm putting a bunch of stuff away so I can function. 1 30L bin down so far, 1 to go and 2 40L bins. ❤
Hey Beth! I love the new jars for the dog food. It looks really nice. Hope you're doing well. ❤❤ I use the cereal containers too love them. And I also use the nice organizing containers they have at Dollar Tree under my sinks. I love your laundry room looks beautiful. The decor on your washer and dryer is so cute. And love the fall sign. ❤🍁🍂
I started watching this when I got up at 5am. I then had to go feed my demanding cats 15 minutes before the end. My partner came down, I made him a cuppa and then my adhd brain was in control, the day took over, I took some old flooring boards and tile pieces to the tip because they had been in my garden since my floor was done three weeks ago. The tip was closed, I came home and started cleaning my hoover (it's a shark!) and prepping for dinner simultaneously. I didn't get to finish the hoover and it's now in bits spread between my kitchen and hallway. I have a pile of washing on my bed to put away and it will get shoved somewhere until tomorrow (maybe?) when I go to bed. I'm from England and I drink loads of coffee and I like it cold, which is good because I run off and leave it often . Tea makes me throw up. I have only seen two of your cats, Blackberry and sweet potato. I didn't know you had another! Well that's my life story 😂. For some reason I want to just chat with you. I'm not a stalker honest
I’m here for it babe! That was a super busy day, nicely done. Hot sauce is the other cat and he is very shy and very much prefers to only be with Sammie. He loves her so sooooo much. I’ll try to get him on film one of these days. I also folded 3 load of laundry today! So that’s amazing for me
@feraltradwife folding laundry is my nemesis. I know it really needs doing when I'm searching through for knickers! I'd love to see hot sauce one day 😸. My Pudding spends most of the time upstairs in the bedroom because she hates the other cats, especially her brother. She can be evil 😹
Southeast Alabama here, have family in Missouri, Maryland and Michigan. I have one heavyish winter coat for my "just in case" trips north. VERY happy I had it when I had a family emergency in MD in Jan one year and no time to try to find anything close to what I would need here. Vacuum bags help w space and our lovely southern bug issues when storing it. Oh and I use the same airtight Gamma2 container for my dog's food, which I love, for the humidity and bug issues. I keep the cats food in original bag and THEN put those into lidded plastic containers. Read somewhere that dog/cat food can go rancid if not in opaque container 🤷🏻♀️
Hi Beth, Love the island with the lanterns and candle sticks on each side. 👍🏻 “That’s what she said” 🤣 Laundry room back in order, you’re moving forward. I’m a shark vacuum lover too, nice long cords, let us know how you like it. ❤😊
Keep a coat for you and your husband. The kids grow out of stuff. You can replace gloves and hats. Go to second-hand stores in the cold area to get what you need. Return it to the second-hand store before you leave the cold area.
Beth, you did an impressive job. I had a Shark pet vacuum for years. I got the Hoover vac Mack at Midwest Magic Cleaning recommends, and I will never go back to a Shark. I gave mine away.
Marc named Hot Sauce and I named Sweet Potato. After Hot Sauce which was just random we stuck with food themes for the cats. The third cat is BlackBerry.
Potato ❤ . I would donate the winter clothes if you don't have plans to wear them for a while . The space made is much better for your brain . Love from Yorkshire xx
OMG Beth, you picked kitchen towels up from the floor with your feet! I so do that too!! I don't know anyone else that does it. Now, if you scrape something stuck off the floor with your big toe nail while you are mopping...we are twins even tho you are an Elizabeth instead of real Beth like me!!! 💜👍💜
I am so excited to see a new video. I got coffee and paper towels ready ( for my screen ) and going to enjoy your video. OMG my husband does that too with coffee cups. Just tell the lady how she always makes your day and was wondering if she would like to go and get a coffee some time. Just let her know your not hitting on her though. lol
IKR?! It’s so hard to make friends as an adult! It’s creepy to say to someone- “ Hey- you wanna be my friend?” It was so much easier when we were kids. That phrase always worked for me.
Good evening, Beth! Rule for children's clothes in my house: if it still fits..it stays...if not donate when possible. 2 year Rule for me...if I have not worn it or gone somewhere, I could have worn it in 2 years out it goes. Hope that helps. Washroom looks great! Hugs from N.C..❤
@feraltradwife your attic is probably like my junk room. I just close the door and pretend it's in another space/time dimension where clutter is a sign of greatness and neat people are shunned. Have a restful evening. Hugs from N.C..❤️
I went on Amazon and bought rolling, plastic, clear, lift top dog and cat food containers...it keeps them off the ground, has wheels to easily move to sweep, and mop..they are both like 20 lb. capacity..Like what your putting your litter in but with wheels, it's got rubber seals beneath the lids and they push lock...I have 2 cats but one, no matter what it is, even dog food, she immediately starts shredding the bag soon as it hits the floor..so I got both of them together for about 20.00..or they have smaller ones!! They are a lifechanger..well...for me anyways
I donate things a lot when i realize that i don't use them. But good winter jackets are expensive, so i'd hold onto a winter jacket. Unless it's for the kids, they outgrow them anyway. So for kids, i'd always donate and get "new" ones second-hand.
I live in Canada so we have 4 true seasons and we use everything clothes wise. However miss Beth just imagine how much nicer and easier and quicker it would be to clean with less stuff. I have 6 kids and 3 are moved out on their own now. I’ve downsized. Everything including furniture and it’s nice. It makes my life so much easier. Like for example, you said a few videos back you never use the chess table. You wanted to maybe get rid of that storage cube by the fireplace. Do it. It feels amazing. Anyway that’s just my opinion and I love you and your videos and will stop watching no matter what ❤❤❤
I agree the prime time for the chess table will be Christmas, as that is where my Christmas tree goes. I just had such visions of my kids playing games there!
@ 🤣 I love you so much. Ok let’s go much smaller. There are 3-4 candles on the bottom shelf of your sofa table that you have almost thrown out like 3 times now!!!! Do it
Penelope in Montana here...Hello friend. Glad to see a new video from you. Have you considered getting occasional cleaning help? Just to lighten your load. 😊❤
As far as the coats go, keep them if they fit. I live in a part of California where we don't get that cold, but I do have a heavy coat for the few times it's pouring rain and really damn cold. If you want to pare down your stuff though I tell you it's the most freeing thing you can do for yourself.
Something else to think about Stored clothes also degrade, but the time you go to wear it will it still be fit for purpose. Glue especially on shoes boots degrades so yeah someone else using for the 2 years that you would have stored it is great because chances are by the time you get it out you might need to replace anyway, no guilt shopping. Your welcome 💖
Give yourself grace. ❤ I do have to tell you that I laugh when you sweep your utility room….and wipe the cat litter off your feet…i do exactly the same 😂😂😂
@@feraltradwife oh can I relate! I have a rug in my utility room where her litter box is….but sometimes it gets on there….utility room is much smaller than yours….anyway, I just appreciate you sharing…still praying for you and your family….just sad.😔
RIP Beauty. 😢 At least, she is now with Beast. Your story about coffee mugs - so relatable! You should totally ask the woman to be a friend! Learn from kids!
Just so you know, I will ignore any wardrobe items as you dictate. Just remember I have a space on the boat to NZ. I’ve dreamed of going to NZ by boat and am willing to do so during the zombie apocalypse. ❤ Love you Beth! No matter what Mike says! 😂
I’m a residential cleaner and I have used many vacuums in my lifetime. STAY CLEAR of dyson. So overpriced and the suction does not compare to Shark. I will always stand behind a shark vacuum! They are hands down, THE BEST!!
Hmm idea put a plastic mom sign near end of litter supply and maybe when they tell you it was in litter it would trigger mental note to get some...idea
Re: your jackets…So I’m of the mindset that the kids stuff- donate it because it can be used now while it’s in style by someone who could use it. Factor in size- if you gain weight/ lose weight… also -most women will want something new/ because you’ll grab it and be like- OMG- I can’t wear this- it’s 5 years out of style! lol kids will definitely NOT want to wear something old. So let it be used now. And worry about it down the line. I have ADD and I’m embracing the ‘get it the heck out and stop overwhelming me’ mindset!
Dear Beth, I would donate the coats and if/when you come back North just go to a thrift store and get one and when you’re done with it, donate it again! 🤗💜 Great video
What about putting the ironing board on the back of the door? Might be annoying clunking if you open and close the door often, but it'll be up and out of the way of the litter box and still have a happy, professional looking husband when he needs it!
I threw my ironing board and iron out. Well donated it. 😂. Got a handheld steamer. Haven’t needed to use it yet. Nobodies died. 😮 I only press clothes when someone’s died 😂.

That’s very sad. But I understand holding on to them and having a hard time letting go. But it is so wasteful
I love your laundry room. Looks so cute! And YAY, we got kisses from Miss Sweet Potato! 😻
She was very loving for you all
I love the way your pets are playing a whole other small vignette scenario piece while you were talking about being friends with the municipal lady ! It’s like a play within a play ! 😂
They were?!? I have to go look
@@feraltradwife yes ,
I get rid everything I can. 😂
I used to hold onto things but then I started following Dana K White and Cass the clutterbug. Now I know what clutter bug I am so I know how to organize my stuff and I know what my clutter threshold is so I know how much I can keep.
I love the clutterbug ❤. Since getting to know her channel I don't have a problem getting rid of things 😂
I’ll look in to her!

24:40 absolutely here for the manic American history lesson 😂
All exactly precise too. Basically all of my history lessons are top notch and factual
I despise laundry I don't know why but I have most of my adult life. I can wash it and dry it but it sits in baskets for awhile til I put them away
The folding and putting away is one of the hardest things. I think it was one of the Labors of Hercules
@@feraltradwife yes I agree a labor of Hercules
I live in San Antonio and we are known for our super cold weather. Okay, that is a lie. BUT, yes I do have a jacket in the closet for that one week in a decade where it actually gets cold enough to put one on. BUT, I also have a super thick sweater that takes up WAY too much space but I look super cute in it and refuse to give it up. No one else would look as cute in it as I do!! That's my story!
LOVE the Sweet Potato mug at the end. Too cute!
I love San Antonio! I actually pulled pretty hard for us to move there before we got Georgia.
I agree with both because I have the same problem lol get rid of it .., but it takes to much time .. out of sight out of mind lol it’s solved lol
I’m British and I still prefer coffee! ☕️ coffee is life! I also have half full coffee cups around my home! 😂❤ you make me laugh! Great video Beth ❤ your home is beautiful 🤩
It’s so delicious! And thank you ☺️
great video, Beth! an idea for your older vacuum ~ put it upstairs for you and the kids to use on those rooms. yes, when i see the numbers of cups and glasses in your dishwasher i am amazed. i use the same insulated vessel to drink out of all day, every day. if my son and grandson use a cup, they use the same one all day. you guys could try that and reduce the amount of dishes you have to clean. also, i seem to notice stuff left on your counter that the kids might have left after fixing themselves something to eat. your kids are old enough to put the things away after using and putting their dishes in sink after using. that would free up counter space and how much you have to do. it's a valuable lesson on having to clean up your own messes, as well. so they shouldn't leave PB and jelly, etc on counter. seal up bread and put back in pantry, etc. my grandson is almost 12 and has been doing that for years. and if your son is learning to make his own mac n cheese, he can learn to wash a pot, or at least put it in sink to soak. i get upset when you call yourself lazy too. i guess it's a trigger word for me, as my mom has called me lazy my entire life. you are a wife, mom of 3, teacher, pet mom to many and friend. so why would you think your home should be tidy all the time?! those are full time jobs already! kitchen and laundry will never end with so many humans in your house! so, be nice to you. you are so far from lazy. you are a great mom, wife, pet mom, and more, so cut yourself some slack. do what you can and forgive the rest. and i have depression and adhd and understand the paralysis. but, that is a condition you deal with and would be understanding of others with it. my mom worked full time and had a magnet on the fridge that said, "this house is clean enough to be healthy, but dirty enough to be happy." i love that. who cares if things are lying around a bit. you'll get to it when you can. and, i personally love your cute, dirty feet. going barefoot all the time will do that! so ignore the haters!! i'm jealous b/c i always went barefoot until this year. i started getting diabetic ulcer last dec and after it healed, it seems the only way it stays away is for me to wear my shoes, with special insoles, from time i get up til time i go to bed and i hate it. so, you go barefoot all you want, girlfriend!!
Oh dang! I hope your foot heals soon. Diabetic ulcers are no joke.
Hola, soy Panameña y me encanta ver tus videos, saludos desde Panamá❤
Welcome! I’m so happy to have you!
Thank you for the ideas! I do love the thought of a folding station.
For now: a ☕❤️ and do the school run. Have a pleasant rest of the week😊
I can try to capture it. It’s always on my lap so I’m right there for the action!
Hi! I have used sharp for years! I have a purple one (my fave color), and I would never use any other vacuum. Unless it was a rainbow!!! 😊
Purple would have been fantastic
Enjoyed this video! It's okay to let go of something you aren't using, especially for your mental sanity. I also have animals and totally appreciate how rude and lazy they are by just following you around while cleaning and just doing absolutely nothing to help. Lol. Have a great day!!!
Such little free loaders!

Good work babe!!! I actually did just get some ceramic bowls for the kittens, I’m glad they are

Also hi babe. I hope you are well. ❤️
@ yes they have some really cute colors in. I'm doing better thanks for asking. ❤️🙏❤️
“In conclusion, I was right.” Words to live by! 😂 Love you!❤
Love you more!
What?! Rancid!! Dang it. I’ll research in to that!
I love my shark vacuum. And I've used them for so long. I've had more than one. Never disappointed!
Soooo happy to hear they’re good vacuums. I feel like I need a good one
Hi Beth,
Love the island with the lanterns and candle sticks on each side. 👍🏻

I’m so glad you caught the twss note I dropped in there 🤣
@ I’ve caught the last 2. Pretty Sure I’m the only one who has! 😉
Keep a coat for you and your husband. The kids grow out of stuff. You can replace gloves and hats. Go to second-hand stores in the cold area to get what you need. Return it to the second-hand store before you leave the cold area.
I do like the idea of donating them where the cold weather is
Oooo a new Shark vac - they are the bomb - only vacuums I don't kill! And agree on the icky orange
So icky! But 60% off so I will deal!
Good job driving struggle 🚌 you got that down pat💕
I really do.
Beth, you did an impressive job. I had a Shark pet vacuum for years. I got the Hoover vac Mack at Midwest Magic Cleaning recommends, and I will never go back to a Shark. I gave mine away.
I refuse to listen to anything that man recommends.
Except my channel, obviously he has amazing taste there.
I have a pink Dyson. It's great. I love it, and I've had it since 2018.

Marc named Hot Sauce and I named Sweet Potato. After Hot Sauce which was just random we stuck with food themes for the cats. The third cat is BlackBerry.

Hahahaha! I haven’t ever scraped but maybe I can 🤣
I am so excited to see a new video. I got coffee and paper towels ready ( for my screen ) and going to enjoy your video. OMG my husband does that too with coffee cups. Just tell the lady how she always makes your day and was wondering if she would like to go and get a coffee some time. Just let her know your not hitting on her though. lol
That’s a good idea Patricia!!
I think I would keep one vacuum bag of my favourites from the cold weather gear for the adults and donate the rest somewhere useful.
That’s a great plan
IKR?! It’s so hard to make friends as an adult! It’s creepy to say to someone- “ Hey- you wanna be my friend?” It was so much easier when we were kids. That phrase always worked for me.
I am a ruthless discarder since my mother was a hardcore keeper. If I haven't used it in the last year...it's gone.
I feel like it may cycle like that.
Thank you babe! I think I’ll take you guys to the attic so you can see it’s glory
And like the wheels pop right in, the hinges pop on, fill with food..bam..done... I absolutely love them..they are tall and not bulky
Oh dang! That would have been amazing.
Hello friend. You are precious. Your laundry room is amazing!!!
~~Kendra~~
It’s a Potato
I donate things a lot when i realize that i don't use them. But good winter jackets are expensive, so i'd hold onto a winter jacket. Unless it's for the kids, they outgrow them anyway. So for kids, i'd always donate and get "new" ones second-hand.
I can’t really remember but I think most of the winter stuff is mine.
You are cracking me up, Missy.
🤣🥰
Do it
@ But they’re so ugly! And I never use them. Why not keep them forever 🤣🤣🤣
@ because you don’t need them 🤣🤣

Hi Beth
How are you? I enjoyed watching your Vlog. Thank you for sharing. Love You ❤❤
Hey babe! How are you? Love you
Beth, I hate wearing shoes too!
They’re the worst
As far as the coats go, keep them if they fit. I live in a part of California where we don't get that cold, but I do have a heavy coat for the few times it's pouring rain and really damn cold. If you want to pare down your stuff though I tell you it's the most freeing thing you can do for yourself.
I think I will go through the attic clothes. I keep thinking about them.
Something else to think about
Stored clothes also degrade, but the time you go to wear it will it still be fit for purpose. Glue especially on shoes boots degrades so yeah someone else using for the 2 years that you would have stored it is great because chances are by the time you get it out you might need to replace anyway, no guilt shopping. Your welcome 💖
That’s a very valid point babe !
Give yourself grace. ❤

What about putting the ironing board on the back of the door? Might be annoying clunking if you open and close the door often, but it'll be up and out of the way of the litter box and still have a happy, professional looking husband when he needs it!
