But Aryna's power and pace prevented her from going for those riskier shots. She tried to play a little safer with a little more margin here and played right into the hands of Aryna.

She deserves it and has been working for it. She played her best tennis. She remained relentless and faithful. She is indeed wonderful this year. Swaitek got the better of her several times. Goes to show that people cam grow, overcome their weaknesses and overcome their suppressors. Believing and fighting for a change is key!
Just look at the joy on Aryna's face. Beating Iga is no fluke now. Aryna not only has the power, but she has a beautiful flow to her game now. Not just a power hitter anymore. Pegula has to stop playing so much doubles and mixed doubles if she wants to get past QF in big tournaments. She's often spent by the middle of second week.
if Rybakina gets healthy and stays that way - she is a tougher challenger to Sabalinka and has lately beat Swiatek handily, so Elena and Aryna could be number 1 and 2 if there are no injuries.

It was sensational shot making from both these competitors , it's worth a final , Congrats to Sabalenka on her victory not taking anything away from Swiatek though, Tennis in good hands with both ya ll
A very interesting game came from Arina. She won thanks to several aspects that were not typical for her in other matches on clay against Iga: firstly, Arina was very good on the defensive, dragging difficult balls, every time she thought that the ball was about to hit the net, but Arina managed to catch up to them and sent it to the opposite side, which of course Iga did not expect and made mistakes in long draws. Secondly, Iga, as always, began to read Arina's serve very well in the 2nd and 3rd sets (there were a lot of tricks right through from Iga), but in the 3rd set Arina adapted to this and after another classy reception by Iga, she managed to ball, sat down very well on it from the backhand and counterattacked the polka with even greater speed than Iga. Swiatek could not expect this from Arina either, in the end she was also mistaken from hopelessness. These two factors, as for me, influenced the victory of Arina.
Iga lookes vulnerable from the start defending herself from nothing new but the usual sheer power of Sabalenka's groundstrokes. Granted, Sabalenka has not been known as one of the most consistent players on the tour and that power has sometimes wrecked havoc on her own game. There was a little bit of that in the second set but once she regrouped and could use her power with less errors she again simply overpowered her opponent.
Congratulations Aryna, great match. As a Rybakina fan I wouldn't be expecting much in Rome but hope to see her back fully fit in Paris to take on both of these great players. 👏👏
Undoubtedly one of the most formidable final encounters which was contended between Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka in WTA during this season. Almost each point was scintillating. Each rally was played in the high level. It was very hard to keep the entire showdown under the composure. One side was going to become the winner one in the end. I would like to congratulate Sabalenka for this tremendous title, annihilating world no.1 competitor on the clay court surface first time. In fact, Iga was really close to attain her first championship in Mutua Madrid Open Tournament. It missed with the minor margins but someday Iga Swiatek will clinch a colossal championship in Mutua Madrid Open Tennis Tournament
A victory over Iga ON CLAY means a lot. Even though it’s more like a hard court with a layer of dirt at Madrid, it can still give Sabalenka a lot of confidence to play Iga on clay in Rome and more importantly at RG. I hope they can meet again at the RG final!

It was sensational shot making from both these competitors , it's worth a final , Congrats to Sabalenka on her victory not taking anything away from Swiatek though, Tennis in good hands with both ya ll
A very interesting game came from Arina. She won thanks to several aspects that were not typical for her in other matches on clay against Iga:
firstly, Arina was very good on the defensive, dragging difficult balls, every time she thought that the ball was about to hit the net, but Arina managed to catch up to them and sent it to the opposite side, which of course Iga did not expect and made mistakes in long draws.
Secondly, Iga, as always, began to read Arina's serve very well in the 2nd and 3rd sets (there were a lot of tricks right through from Iga), but in the 3rd set Arina adapted to this and after another classy reception by Iga, she managed to ball, sat down very well on it from the backhand and counterattacked the polka with even greater speed than Iga. Swiatek could not expect this from Arina either, in the end she was also mistaken from hopelessness.
These two factors, as for me, influenced the victory of Arina.
Iga lookes vulnerable from the start defending herself from nothing new but the usual sheer power of Sabalenka's groundstrokes. Granted, Sabalenka has not been known as one of the most consistent players on the tour and that power has sometimes wrecked havoc on her own game. There was a little bit of that in the second set but once she regrouped and could use her power with less errors she again simply overpowered her opponent.

Undoubtedly one of the most formidable final encounters which was contended between Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka in WTA during this season. Almost each point was scintillating. Each rally was played in the high level. It was very hard to keep the entire showdown under the composure. One side was going to become the winner one in the end. I would like to congratulate Sabalenka for this tremendous title, annihilating world no.1 competitor on the clay court surface first time. In fact, Iga was really close to attain her first championship in Mutua Madrid Open Tournament. It missed with the minor margins but someday Iga Swiatek will clinch a colossal championship in Mutua Madrid Open Tennis Tournament

A victory over Iga ON CLAY means a lot. Even though it’s more like a hard court with a layer of dirt at Madrid, it can still give Sabalenka a lot of confidence to play Iga on clay in Rome and more importantly at RG. I hope they can meet again at the RG final!

Iga is going to be coming at her relentlessly in these match-ups. Sabalenka’s problem has always been “composure”; let’s see if she continues to keep it in check. So far, so good! I’m so happy for her.
Madrid is probably the fastest clay court on tour. So it was Sabalenkas best chance to win on clay vs. Iga. I think Iga is a heavy favorite in rome and Paris though.

Well... Iga has her opinions on the Russians and Belarusians. In my opinion, I just think it's a bit stupid. I understand how frustrating this may be. But Sabalenka is not the one who started the Ukrainian/russian war... She just happens to be a citizen of a country that is an ally of the invader. She said that she wished the war would stop several times.
