nice run, its a shame that you couldn't get wr but still incredibly impressive what exactly are the differences between the pc and arcade versions? i notice that borders dont give as many resources but is that it?
Thanks! Yeah it was a shame but it was still a fun day so I'm glad I tried. I mentioned the differences from scoring in the description, but in terms of survival the other big difference is you get less resources. On PC, every 3rd border will give you life fragments instead of bomb fragments, and borders will give 3 fragments if you get them to level 3. On EXA, borders only give bomb fragments (no life fragments ever), and only give up to 2 fragments per border. Aside from that, EXA has some nice features including TATE mode and character voices (the voices are actually kind of useful for timing certain borders), but is missing things like spellcard practice and obviously replay support. Those wouldn't make sense in an arcade but are really nice to have when you're playing at home.
I'm real sad a-cho is closing. I got to visit Japan a long time ago and it was one of my favorite game centers. I hope you can find a new place to play 😥
wtf, we had arcade shmups regularly available in the area?? Is there a website/more info about this besides Twitter? (don't have an account) The only STG-in-an-arcade I'm aware of currently is DOJ @ West Seattle Arcade and a shitty Toaplan one in a bar in capitol hill (I forgot which)
ok I found their site, but are the machines staged anywhere regularly when they're not at an event? Is there a mailing list or event calendar or any other way to get announcements besides going on the hellish bird site?
@@williewillus Yeah admittedly they do a poor job of advertising (in retrospect I should have helped promote these myself too, haha). They're not a traditional arcade per-se. Their main business is renting out cabinets to conventions and whatnot, but they occasionally open their warehouse for one-day events like this too. I've heard they're trying to open an actual retail location next year too, but I have no clue how well that's progressing.
