Good vid mate 👍
John Buckland Thanks!
Excellent Video, Thanks
Cheers
Thanks for watching!
adding those fast rings to the speaker will make the final touch! I learned about those in another video you posted some time back. I added those to my 06 Yukon with BOSE and dynomatted door and the rings really made an improvement. Note that I had already dynomated the doors years earlier.
Nice! Ya we only seem to install them for premium speaker installs. I have yet to do them in my truck, maybe I should dedicate a video for them.
Great vid. Curious if you unhooked his tweeter because of the switch coaxial or nah. Just wondering.
Car Audio Inc It sounded good with the factory tweeter so it's now a 3 way lol. I don't know why GM put a component set in with the tweeter that close. I've installed component and coaxial in these trucks with power from just the head unit. It sounds the same.
thanks, good to know!
If it doesn't sound good, obviously disconnect the tweeter.
@@CarAudioInc i know this was a few years ago but just for everyone else. generally if the vehicle has tweeters it may be running active amps or crossovers that take the highs out of the door speakers and send them to the tweeters so it should be fine it will just not use the tweeter in the coaxial very much.
I completed the front door install and working great. For the rears on a 2003 Suburban, I can’t find the wiring diagrams (wire colors and positive negative). Can you assist. Thanks
Try the12volt.com
My front two speakers went out in my 2003 Silverado so I replaced them, but now my speaker grilles (or something) rattle really bad and I hate it. Is there any good fix for that?
You'll have to pull off the door skins and see what's loose.
My two front door speakers went out (regular cab) my rear ones work fine, as they were going out I noticed that I could get them to work if I moved my door open and closed, not sure if that has to do with the wiring between the door and going into the dash. They ended up going completely out and I installed new ones but they only worked for very short while and went out also. Any idea what it could be?
You'd have to do a continuity test and verify the wires aren't broken inside the door boots.
@@AnthonyJ350 Thanks, i'll try that this weekend.
The whole reason for the speaker baffles is the force the sound out into the cabin of the truck or the vehicle that they're used in so that the big door doesn't eat up all the sound make meal in a little bit weather-resistant is just a bonus
We find they're too small most of the time and it kills any midbass. Most of the time you need the volume of the door to help.
I have GMC Sierra 1500 02 extended cab and I put in after market speakers in the front and back. The fronts sound fine but the backs rattle when I play songs with bass.I installed them with baffles in hopes it would help but it still rattles.Does the sound deadening kit work well?
Sound deadening and how did you fasten the speakers to the vehicle?
My speakers are good but no sound on the right side i know the channel is good as well because i got a new radio but still no side on right side ( 2002 tahoe ) could it be the stock speaker harness?
You'll have to inspect it.
I have the same problem on my 02 Avalanche. Did you find a problem?
In this install did you use the speaker adapter or not?
Just sound deadening and made holes in the sheet metal.
With the door exposed don't be afraid to squirt some oil in the bottom of the door. Save door bottom from rotting out.
Great tip!
Instead of cutting the baffle, on a 6.5 speaker, can you use a 6x9 baffle (uncut) and still achieve full range from the small speaker?
You can try, it's going to fold up a lot and have gaps because it's oval and 6.5 speakers are round.
@@AnthonyJ350 Thank you
I got a question for yah. I have a 2007 Monte Carlo LS. I've installed subs and new door speakers, when I installed the door speakers I thought I saw some tweeters? I can't seem to find anything about it online. What size are they?
I'm not too familiar with those cars. Did you see a separate speaker in the door panel or in the a-pillar?
It was in the panel for sure.
Nicolai Carnal If it's in the panel you should still be able to see a place for it from the outside. It had to perforated in some form to allow the music to come through.

Turns out my factory bose rear speakers work fine. Was the wiring that was faulty. [03 Suburban]
David Stetler were was the break in your wire? I’m dealing with the same issue but can’t find anything. I have confirmed my speakers work in another truck so I’m pretty certain it’s wiring. I have the factory speakers
Thanks for sharing
Try tone generating at output plug of the amp (unplug before you test). That will confirm if there is a break in the line that you can't see.
AnthonyJ350 turned out to be the connectors to the front door speakers. Hard wired new speakers in and it works perfect.
@@jamesboswell_6.0 Moisture or physically not making a connection? Thanks for letting us know.
I noticed in my 05 Denali that the door charm was not on. Was like hmmm ok well so be it. Then driving I adjusted the sound balance to all right side. All speakers working except rear pass door. And on driver side. The driver door wasn’t working. I’ll be replacing all four door speakers and see what that does.
Let us know what happens after
do i need these for the rear speakers?
Veggie Ready I would install them in the rear as well.
Whats the right speaker posi wire neg wire
Check on the12volt.com to confirm colours.
@@AnthonyJ350 yep, this is the go to sigjt for any car audio enthusiast or basshead.
My speakers were bad put new ones and still no sound on my gmc sierra 2006 do you know what's the problem.
Gotta see if one of the speakers is grounding out
@@AnthonyJ350 how can I check that thank you.
@@edgarmartinez767 Need to use a multimeter. Sometimes you can hear the speaker that is touching ground pop when you turn on the stereo.
Where can I get those baffles
The Beige Wonder I picked up some from AutoZone.
tyren wright thank you
Your local install shop should be able to get them for you.
crutchfield and sonic electronix have theinstallbay brand xtc baffles also. just installed some in our 2015 dart and with the half cut, the really enriched the sound and gave more clear, yet slightly quieter midbass.
You gonna show how to replace the rear speakers?
Samuel Feguer Pretty much the exact same procedure. Do you have suicide doors or a crew cab?
AnthonyJ350 regular cab
Samuel Feguer Ya i currently don't have a video of how to take out the b-pillar of that style cab. You'll have to search for that one.
Samuel Feguer ouch
My trucks back left speaker wires don’t work any idea?
Wires in the door boot might be broken
@@AnthonyJ350 true forgot about that hopefully that’s it and I don’t have to run wires all the way from the front
I changed the spekaers and the radio istill isnt playing
Do a continuity test on the wires
What size is front speakers
Quentin Jones 6.5"
@@AnthonyJ350 didn't they come with 5 1/4"? I am trying to see how difficult it will be to upgrade to 6.5"
@@jasonpetrillo1839 They're a 6.5"
Omg I getting so much conflicts on the size... 6.75 is what see the most...
@@scottstabb1432 6.5" fits and is the most common.
I replaced front speakers on my 06 silverado And still no sound.
No sound from all speakers? Take out the head unit and check to see if any of the speaker leads are touching ground. Use a multimeter to check.
I have a good question what about when I swapped my power mirrors and all my speakers worked before but after the swap they don’t ?😂
None of the speakers work?
@@AnthonyJ350 only the rear ones work now all of them worked then I swapped power mirrors and front stop working
@@bradynhumphrey1387 Check the connections at the speaker and check the "fade" at the stereo incase someone played with the settings
Does not show how to repair the speaker, only the installation of aftermarket units.
Replacing it with a better sounding after market speaker is the fix. There's no point trying to repair a factory speaker. That's like asking me to show you how to repair a light bulb.
@@AnthonyJ350 Better sounding, possibly. I have heard several attempts to replace factory speakers with aftermarket units, using the factory radio. The GM radio only outputs 4-5 watts RMS (per channel). Most aftermarket speakers have heavier magnets, cones and surrounds. They can't be effectively driven by a factory radio. They can, however, be turned up and produce a large amount of harsh midrange and treble. I'm not the biggest fan of the GM sound system, but it was designed to produce an "acceptable" listening experience.
I have fixed a lightbulb before (led of course). I'll tear the speakers out of my NNBS this week and see if my theory of the tinsel seperating from the voice coil leads is the issue. And yes, the original speakers are available for around $20-$30 each (us or can). Thanks for posting your original vid, I'm sure the swap is the correct choice for 99.99% of owners.
@@gregbaird7582 I'm interested to know how long the fix takes so we can evaluate cost when time is factored in. Make sure you put a baffle in to protect whenever speaker from water.
@@gregbaird7582 Oh since you have the newer style truck this is probably what you'll find ua-cam.com/video/o-eKU0n9TfM/v-deo.html
Why the hell would want to repair the shitty factory speaker?
Your right it has nothing to do with the fact they are all about 15+ years old and made from brittle paper. Hmm?
Maybe, maybe not. We have a 2001 Pontiac Montana and the front speakers are still original. Depends on the environment the vehicle lives in.
Doesn't change the fact that those speakers are still getting wet. Your choice if you want to protect the next set.
A seal kit is like 20 bucks.
Thanks for sharing!
Too much talk does not show speaker removal.
Dannie Kemp It just clicks out. The video is about a problem specifically. It doesn't say how to change a speaker in the title.
hahahaha
