alicent doubling down on having heard viserys correctly is the only thing that makes sense, both for her character and the situation. it’s like aemond doubling down to his family that killing luke was intentional and not a mistake - what else can you do at that point? it’s done. war has been inevitable from the beginning (it has taken alicent and rhaenyra the longest to realize this, and now it’s finally here that they both understand there is no peaceful path forward. great scene.)

I’m so happy that the air was cleared between Alicent and Rheanyra about the Song Of Ice And Fire. But Alicent is right, even if they managed to convince everyone that Aegon’s Ascension was illegitimate, far too much blood has been spilled on both sides for there to be any kind of peace. Hell the men of this world (aside from the northerners) have been practically begging for war for decades. And let’s face it Rhaenys was right, most men would rather burn the world than have a woman sit on the Iron Throne.
But they're right? War has started and I'm supposed to believe Rhaenyra doing nothing and Rhaenys nodding in approval is somehow the right response. If they want to make "women as not wanting to shed blood" a positive theme, they're doing a bad job of it.
That makes no sense, all the men are fighting because she asked them to support her claim for the throne. She practically beg them all to fight for her last season.
I really liked getting the scene with alicent and Rhaenyra. I think it’s good for Rhaenyra to know that her dad did uphold her claim and no matter what she is trying to claim her rightful place according to proper royal line. It’s also going to be interesting seeing alicent kind of sink down further into her mind and what has happened after Viserys died. I’ve always held the opinion that in her mind alicent was telling the truth. Whether or not it was a far fetched truth to believe, based on everything placed in her head by Otto she believed she was telling the truth the whole time. And now that she knows she was wrong and it’s too late to go back on what she said she’ll be stuck with that knowledge that she was wrong
Yes, Rhaenyra kind of needed to hear that affirmation so that she knows she has the right to fight for the throne even if its going to be bloody because it is her right. And I think Alicent will become ruthless now just to cope with her guilt and the realization that everything she believes in may be all wrong, and that all her sacrifices and grief will be for nothing.
Yeah they could end whole show in second really good it was Rhaenys in dragon pit moment come again where she could end whole show you don't make this kind of scenes unless you really having last face down and someone will die.Alicent don't care about her kids where in s1 she wanted kill for Aemond now she ca just hand over her kids to Rhaenyra she already went against their backs and Rhaenyra as septa was worse than sending Arryk to kill her stupidity .
I kind of hope it lets Rhaenyra be a little more ruthless. She knows for sure and now knows they know too. I mean she likely knew only Alicent believed Alicent and everyone else was using it as their way to support Aegon but now she knows Alicent is aware. Maybe that sympathy will lessen.
Regarding nudity: They are able to show the act if the body parts aren’t real so that’s how they got away with it … and yes I applaud aemond for showing himself .. no one protested when they showed Dany and props to him for not wearing some unrealistic prosthetic
We only saw danys nipples tho it ain't like we got a full cochy shot like aemond, plus Dany being naked is part of the plot st least in season 1 we did not need to aemond whole penis.
It probably will get lost in the shuffle but I really enjoyed Rhaena's (Daemon and Laena youngest daughter) plot line. You can see and feel her anger and resentment that she's basically stuck playing the role of mother to the younger kids while her sister is out here trying to fry Cole and Alicent's annoying brother. Interested to see where she goes next.
I think it's inferred the eggs she takes with her end up becoming the eggs Danny gets as a wedding gift in GOT (Rhaenera told her if all comes to worst here, you will secure our future.. or something like that).
@@itskashkashi nope, Dany's eggs were stolen by a character named Elissa Farman 70-ish years before all of this. she very smartly yeeted herself out of westeros to live an adventurer's life and her ship was last seen in asshai. the stolen eggs only made their way back to pentos, where they came into the possession of Illyrio years later. at least that's book canon.
Ramin Djawadi is the guy who does the music for the show and I gotta be honest when also looking at his filmography I am shocked this guy does not get talked about more. His music is incredible!🙏🏻
Well, Djawadi is fairly well known. He was in the spotlight a lot when Game of Thrones came out. But it's fun to go back and watch Prison Break and listen to that, there's quite a few similarities. But once Thrones came out he skyrocketed, and I love his work in Westworld. And was super excited when I saw his name for Fallout

That's what I missed about Harrenhal, I'm glad they showed how haunted it is, it's the horror house of Westeros that all the kids and even some adults run from. I wonder, how long has Simon Strong lived there? Because at most families that inherit Harenhal stay there for 6 months to a year before tragedy hits
What's so compelling in the Alicent/Rhaenyra scene is you see Alicent realize she fucked up and then immediately stand by her fuck up because what else can she do? It's already gone too far. Then you see Rhaenyra realize there is no peace to be found and it's just heartbreaking. She, more than anyone, has tried to avoid war. Very much her father's daughter, but unlike Viserys she's actually being tested as a ruler. And much like Jaehaerys predicted, the only thing that can destroy the house of the dragon is itself. It's just great storytelling.
I wonder if it has crossed Rhea's mind to do like her great grandfather did and call a Grand Council to avoid war. It was her opening monologue in season 1
Honestly whats the point? Alicent should just walk in and say "Hey actually viserys was speaking of Aegon the conqueror, not my son or Rhaenyra's, everyone drop ur swords." I loved the scene for its emotional impact on seeing them both together again but at this point there is really no retreat.
It strengthened Rhaenera's resolve. She had doubts about if her father really wanted her to be queen, especially since Alicent was so sure he wanted Aegon. This conversation told her that her father still loved her at the end and didn't want her brother to be king. She needed this to decide if she was going to fight for her inheritance.
But it's too late now, Rhanyra and Alicent might be willing to put down their swords and come to an accord, but their sons aren't. We've been seeing the quiet anger of Jace in the background, but I bet he wants to avenge his brother just as much as Aegon his son.
Simon Beale, who plays Ser Simon Strong, is such a good actor; he has great comic delivery even if the scene isn't meant to be outright funny. I kinda found the scene where he was opposite Daemon at the dinner table quite funny, especially with the gormless expressions of the three men (sons?) sat beside him.

the blackwoods are one of the coolest houses!!! originally kings in the north, they were chased out by the starks and then were kings in the riverlands for a while. they're the only house outside of the north that worship the old gods. they have a massive weirwood in their castle that the brackens poisoned long ago. in the books, the three eyed raven is a blackwood-targaryen bastard, lord brynden rivers

Well, in the last episode a certain someone took an interest in this dragon (Seasmoke) circling restlessly overhead while he was digging out crabs on the beach (possibly the very beach from which the then bald Laenor and his plus one rowed to a ship bound for Essos).

But over the many decades since Aegon's Conquest, the Targaryens and the Velaryons (as the two most prominent surviving Houses from Valyria) frequently intermarried to keep their Valyrian Blood "pure" (short of marrying their more direct kin). So there may have been other Velaryon dragonriders. Let's see how the show will introduce and explain the Dragonseeds and who will manage to bond with a riderless dragon.
Do you guys remember the boys that fought during the tour when Reanyera was looking for a husband in season one? Those two characters were a Blackwood and a Bracken. The younger Blackwood killed the Bracken in the hall as she and Cole fled. it is really hard to remember, or to catch in the first place, if you don’t have the context. Great reaction guys.
The Hatfields and McCoys of Westeros. They never pass up an opportunity to kill each other. Even Jahaerys could only keep peace between them as long as he lived.
I know some people are going to hate on Rhaenyra for going to King's Landing but it seems like it was worth a shot. If war could be averted, then that would save thousands of lives.
The cinematography is good but the writing is a bit ham-fisted compared to season 1 imho. And some establishing shots were a bit pointless. A lingering shot on Rheanyra's eyes doesn't have to last 15 seconds .😅 on the whole, it's still a quality show. The actors are really killing it.
Yea... it's too late for Alicent to change her mind and to change her family's mind of preventing the upcoming civil war after hearing that prophecy that she heard from Viserys and what it actually meant, which she misread about.
Aegon messed up. He should have a good bond and relationship with his brother aemond but messed it up by bullying him again and about the madame who he made sleep with when they were younger no less. The council and Otto were already planning to usurp the crown. And Daemon was pushing for a war too. Women are still not taken seriously regardless of the side we're on. Rhaenyra overestimates Alicent's power and vice versa. I think this war was bound to happen regardless of Alicent and Rhaenyra's relationship, the men around them hold grudges and want blood. Rhaenyra should have gotten closer to her siblings and apologized to Alicent, and Alicent should not have poisoned her kids against their sister and raised them better.
Imagine you got cast as an extra for this show...but you're the, uh, *flute player* in the brothel scene. Real question; do you tell your parents, or never mention you got a featured extra casting on a prestige HBO series?

She probably didnt even mean it about the riding criston thing, and more about the fact that her mistake about viserys "changing his mind" is really what caused her jaeherys death
@@chelscarait's the realisation that forgiveness is given to you by those you have hurt. She finally gets to hear that her daughter was hurt by her. She needed to hear that. The forgiveness was a gift on top.
I feel that the scene with Alicent works to finalize Rhaenyra's feeling on what she is fighting for. To know that her father did not change his mind, further emphasized the prophecy, and that Alicent states there can be no peace gives Rhaenyra that final bit of confidence she felt she needed to know war is her next step. To say to herself, ok I did all I could to find peace and whatever comes next is the only option left and I will boldly walk that path.
No. Because no matter the sex; people will lie to eachother and themselves to justify their actions. Viserys was tempered as was Lord Strong. The people who seemed indecisive and trying to keep the peace were overshadowed by those who are quick to anger and act. That includes Rheanyra but she now realises that her father was not a bad king: he was surrounded by the wrong people.
With that Milly vision cameo, it makes it totally possible to see Paddy back as Viserys for what will be the HUGE big showdown Between Rhaenyra and Aegon whenever they decide to have that happen. You other fire and blood readers know the one I mean. Having a vision of Viserys lamenting the event as it happens would be excellent and I had been thinking about it since 2x1
Daeron is the 3rd son and youngest child of Alicent and Viserys, stupidly they never mentioned him once until last episode. His dragon is tessarion a beautiful blue dragon
I'm guessing they're putting off showing him because there's going to be a reveal that his looks take after Alicent. It'll be a nice bit of irony that the greens focus so much on Rhaenyra's oldest 3 not having the Targ look when one of her's doesn't either.

When Aegon conquered Westeros he burned Harrenhal because they didn’t bend the knee and it had been in disrepair ever since due to the expense to rebuild. That is what Lprd Strong was referring to. It was one of the largest if not the largest Castle in Westeros. It is also where Visery’s I was crowned.
Episode 2 for me is a bit better, but this was still terrific. Season 2 is fucking peak so far and next week looks like it's going to be an all time banger

I think that the main point of seeing that guy bragging to his friends that he is the bastard brother of Daemon and Vyserys was to introduce us to the concept of dragonseeds. I don't know if they have mentioned them in the show before but this will be a concept we will be exploring more this season, I guess.
The actor who plays Criston Cole actually had to remove his comment section on one of social media sites because he was getting harassed so badly. Leslie Jones addressed the issue on her Instagram account, explaining the difference between the actor and the character he portrays and urging fans of the show against harassment.
Means he's doing a good job. Lena Heady and Jack Gleeson also got a lot of hate. Luckily, he can choose to create a separate private account and just not read what people post on his public page.
Allicent knows she’s made a mistake but she also knows she’s alone. Otto has gone, Cole is hand of the king and as she said to Rhaenyra” Aegon is what Aegon is. There is nothing she can do. It’s too late.Rhaenyra now knows that she is the rightful heir and that will mean she will go to war.
Alicent was already planning to usurp the throne before she ever heard those words. She spent a decade spreading rumors about the alleged illegitimacy of Rhaenyra’s sons, she asked Larys to get rid of Lord Lyonel Strong so Otto could become Hand again so she would have someone partial to her at the small council and she was the one who planned the petition to disinherit Lucerys and discredit Rhaenyra in front of the court, to which Viserys stood against in his last moments (in the boo, this happens years before he dies). Viserys was also drugged in his last moment. She heard what she chose to hear to justify what she was already doing for decades. This prophecy thing is a cop out, especially when they butchered it in GOT. Even if Viserys had died saying Rhaenyra is my heir, from her line it will come the Prince that was promised to save all of us, the usurpation would have still continued because Otto suggested her as heir in the first place so he could put his blood on the throne in place of her. It was always gonna happen. Even if Jace, Luke and Joff were Laenor in miniature, it would happen. She is just clinging to this idea to feel better about herself. Especially because there were always the option that Aegon could mean the conqueror, or even Rhaenyra’s son Aegon.
Daeron is Alicents 4th child that she sent to old town shortly after being born to live and study with otto and he stayed when otto came back, idk why they left that out cause hes more important that some of the main people
Will SOMEONE please feed Aemond Targaryen? He's practically skin and bones and we could certainly see every bony part of him because the emperor had no clothes! You'd think all that arms training would have given him a bit of muscle, at least in the shoulders and arms. We need to take up a collection or fund to feed the poor kinslayer.
The dragon flying over the beach was Seasmoke (Laenor’s dragon). Daeron is the youngest child of Alicent and Viserys, we have never seen him as he resides in Oldtown. He’s the rider of a dragon called Tessarion the ‘Blue Queen’ who we have also never seen.
This is why it's so hard to actually watch this show when you haven't read it lol. Okay, the small folk are going to be a HUGE thing soon enough. Likely next season. This is why all the small folk are being specifically focused on

Harrenhal is the castle in the Riverlands to the north of King's Landing, where in the original GOT series Arya was kept as a prisoner and served as Tywin's cup-bearer when it came under Lannister control. It was also the place in this series where Larys Strong hired prisoners with their tongues removed to commit arson and kill his own father and brother by trapping them in their rooms. You guys were maybe thinking of Storm's End in the Stormlands (south of King's Landing) at the end of Season 1, where Lucerys Velaryon flew with on his dragon Arrax to ask for (the illiterate) Borros Baratheon's support for Rhaenyra's cause. Both Storm's End and Harrenhal are very dreary rainy places, so it makes sense that they can be easily mistaken for one another, though it is Harrenhal that has the reputation for constantly being in disrepair, though some would call the castle "cursed".
In episode 4 of season 1, Willem Blackwood (who looks about 12 years old) is one of the suitors presenting himself to Rhaenyra at Storm's End. An older suitor, Jerrel Bracken taught him, and they have a duel, and Blackwood kills Bracken. The 2 families have fueded forever.

Sooooooooo, I was on the fence about Alicent and giving her the benefit of the doubt because she was parented by her horrible father--Otto, which she carried on the same terrible parenting to her own children and so all of Alicents kids are messed up people.......But now Alicent, just has me really annoyed......She can not blame Rhaenyra for this, RHAENYRA TRIED!
i was hoping for a lot of action this episode but that last scene had my heart racing! also the Ghost of Harrenhal was a clever way to get Milly to cameo.
I don't know if anyone else does this , but I will watch the episode when it is broadcast on TV , and then I would watch the reactions on UA-cam , but not just this one channel - I will watch SEVERAL different reactors (different channels) , and still enjoy them all 😂
I love that Alicent admitted what Viserys said verbatim. Rhaenyra knows Viserys never abandoned her - he protected and believed in her until his last moment. Now, Alicent is going to start spiralling: she no longer has that to fall back on when justifying what her house does to keep Aegon on the throne. We saw last episode how guilt affected her - I imagine she’s going to get so much worse!
I believe with 100% of my being that Daemon never truly intended a child to be killed. The plan was to kill Aemond if possible, the scene where Aemond picks up a gold Dragon coin the assassins dropped in his bedchambers proves that, but move on to another of royal blood if that doesn’t work. However, Blood & Cheese were supposed to fail. Daemon had no way of knowing that Criston Cole would be fucking the dowager Queen instead of guarding the Royal wing. It was about sending a message. ‘You can get to us, we can get to you’. Daemon is genuinely haunted. Harrenhall is canonically haunted AF and people dream of truths they dare not speak aloud. I tell you, every moment of this show is like a gift to those of us that love the world of ‘A Song Of Fire & Ice’!!.
I think they are kinda biased against Alicent there is nothing she could do know if Rhae spoke maybe a few weeks ago she could have negotiated something (not likely) but now there is no chance.Alicent has too tell hetself there has been no mistake otherwise it would drive herself insane.

I’m so happy that the air was cleared between Alicent and Rheanyra about the Song Of Ice And Fire. But Alicent is right, even if they managed to convince everyone that Aegon’s Ascension was illegitimate, far too much blood has been spilled on both sides for there to be any kind of peace.

I really liked getting the scene with alicent and Rhaenyra. I think it’s good for Rhaenyra to know that her dad did uphold her claim and no matter what she is trying to claim her rightful place according to proper royal line.
It’s also going to be interesting seeing alicent kind of sink down further into her mind and what has happened after Viserys died. I’ve always held the opinion that in her mind alicent was telling the truth. Whether or not it was a far fetched truth to believe, based on everything placed in her head by Otto she believed she was telling the truth the whole time. And now that she knows she was wrong and it’s too late to go back on what she said she’ll be stuck with that knowledge that she was wrong
Yes, Rhaenyra kind of needed to hear that affirmation so that she knows she has the right to fight for the throne even if its going to be bloody because it is her right. And I think Alicent will become ruthless now just to cope with her guilt and the realization that everything she believes in may be all wrong, and that all her sacrifices and grief will be for nothing.

What's so compelling in the Alicent/Rhaenyra scene is you see Alicent realize she fucked up and then immediately stand by her fuck up because what else can she do? It's already gone too far.
Then you see Rhaenyra realize there is no peace to be found and it's just heartbreaking. She, more than anyone, has tried to avoid war. Very much her father's daughter, but unlike Viserys she's actually being tested as a ruler. And much like Jaehaerys predicted, the only thing that can destroy the house of the dragon is itself. It's just great storytelling.
I wonder if it has crossed Rhea's mind to do like her great grandfather did and call a Grand Council to avoid war. It was her opening monologue in season 1

I loved the scene for its emotional impact on seeing them both together again but at this point there is really no retreat.
It strengthened Rhaenera's resolve. She had doubts about if her father really wanted her to be queen, especially since Alicent was so sure he wanted Aegon. This conversation told her that her father still loved her at the end and didn't want her brother to be king. She needed this to decide if she was going to fight for her inheritance.

Simon Beale, who plays Ser Simon Strong, is such a good actor; he has great comic delivery even if the scene isn't meant to be outright funny. I kinda found the scene where he was opposite Daemon at the dinner table quite funny, especially with the gormless expressions of the three men (sons?) sat beside him.

The council and Otto were already planning to usurp the crown. And Daemon was pushing for a war too. Women are still not taken seriously regardless of the side we're on. Rhaenyra overestimates Alicent's power and vice versa. I think this war was bound to happen regardless of Alicent and Rhaenyra's relationship, the men around them hold grudges and want blood. Rhaenyra should have gotten closer to her siblings and apologized to Alicent, and Alicent should not have poisoned her kids against their sister and raised them better.

I feel that the scene with Alicent works to finalize Rhaenyra's feeling on what she is fighting for. To know that her father did not change his mind, further emphasized the prophecy, and that Alicent states there can be no peace gives Rhaenyra that final bit of confidence she felt she needed to know war is her next step. To say to herself, ok I did all I could to find peace and whatever comes next is the only option left and I will boldly walk that path.

It was a silly scene but it was needed to drive the plot.
No. Because no matter the sex; people will lie to eachother and themselves to justify their actions. Viserys was tempered as was Lord Strong. The people who seemed indecisive and trying to keep the peace were overshadowed by those who are quick to anger and act. That includes Rheanyra but she now realises that her father was not a bad king: he was surrounded by the wrong people.
With that Milly vision cameo, it makes it totally possible to see Paddy back as Viserys for what will be the HUGE big showdown Between Rhaenyra and Aegon whenever they decide to have that happen.

Allicent knows she’s made a mistake but she also knows she’s alone. Otto has gone, Cole is hand of the king and as she said to Rhaenyra” Aegon is what Aegon is. There is nothing she can do. It’s too late.Rhaenyra now knows that she is the rightful heir and that will mean she will go to war.
Alicent was already planning to usurp the throne before she ever heard those words. She spent a decade spreading rumors about the alleged illegitimacy of Rhaenyra’s sons, she asked Larys to get rid of Lord Lyonel Strong so Otto could become Hand again so she would have someone partial to her at the small council and she was the one who planned the petition to disinherit Lucerys and discredit Rhaenyra in front of the court, to which Viserys stood against in his last moments (in the boo, this happens years before he dies). Viserys was also drugged in his last moment. She heard what she chose to hear to justify what she was already doing for decades. This prophecy thing is a cop out, especially when they butchered it in GOT. Even if Viserys had died saying Rhaenyra is my heir, from her line it will come the Prince that was promised to save all of us, the usurpation would have still continued because Otto suggested her as heir in the first place so he could put his blood on the throne in place of her. It was always gonna happen. Even if Jace, Luke and Joff were Laenor in miniature, it would happen. She is just clinging to this idea to feel better about herself. Especially because there were always the option that Aegon could mean the conqueror, or even Rhaenyra’s son Aegon.
Alicent can’t say she made a mistake, too much has happened. Even if she did, they won’t be able to get past the boy being killed
Daeron is Alicents 4th child that she sent to old town shortly after being born to live and study with otto and he stayed when otto came back, idk why they left that out cause hes more important that some of the main people
The show runner said they'd never mentioned Daeron because they hadn't his story mapped out yet. And wasn't yet cast.
daeron’s role doesn’t come into play up until season 3 at most.
Will SOMEONE please feed Aemond Targaryen? He's practically skin and bones and we could certainly see every bony part of him because the emperor had no clothes! You'd think all that arms training would have given him a bit of muscle, at least in the shoulders and arms. We need to take up a collection or fund to feed the poor kinslayer.

The dragon flying over the beach was Seasmoke (Laenor’s dragon). Daeron is the youngest child of Alicent and Viserys, we have never seen him as he resides in Oldtown. He’s the rider of a dragon called Tessarion the ‘Blue Queen’ who we have also never seen.
This is why it's so hard to actually watch this show when you haven't read it lol.

Harrenhal is the castle in the Riverlands to the north of King's Landing, where in the original GOT series Arya was kept as a prisoner and served as Tywin's cup-bearer when it came under Lannister control. It was also the place in this series where Larys Strong hired prisoners with their tongues removed to commit arson and kill his own father and brother by trapping them in their rooms. You guys were maybe thinking of Storm's End in the Stormlands (south of King's Landing) at the end of Season 1, where Lucerys Velaryon flew with on his dragon Arrax to ask for (the illiterate) Borros Baratheon's support for Rhaenyra's cause. Both Storm's End and Harrenhal are very dreary rainy places, so it makes sense that they can be easily mistaken for one another, though it is Harrenhal that has the reputation for constantly being in disrepair, though some would call the castle "cursed".

In episode 4 of season 1, Willem Blackwood (who looks about 12 years old) is one of the suitors presenting himself to Rhaenyra at Storm's End. An older suitor, Jerrel Bracken taught him, and they have a duel, and Blackwood kills Bracken. The 2 families have fueded forever.

i was hoping for a lot of action this episode but that last scene had my heart racing! also the Ghost of Harrenhal was a clever way to get Milly to cameo.

I love that Alicent admitted what Viserys said verbatim. Rhaenyra knows Viserys never abandoned her - he protected and believed in her until his last moment. Now, Alicent is going to start spiralling: she no longer has that to fall back on when justifying what her house does to keep Aegon on the throne. We saw last episode how guilt affected her - I imagine she’s going to get so much worse!
So when they showed the dragon eggs one of them was blue. Was that a tip off to Dreamfyre? I hope so. Get that girl a Dragon.

I believe with 100% of my being that Daemon never truly intended a child to be killed. The plan was to kill Aemond if possible, the scene where Aemond picks up a gold Dragon coin the assassins dropped in his bedchambers proves that, but move on to another of royal blood if that doesn’t work. However, Blood & Cheese were supposed to fail. Daemon had no way of knowing that Criston Cole would be fucking the dowager Queen instead of guarding the Royal wing. It was about sending a message. ‘You can get to us, we can get to you’. Daemon is genuinely haunted. Harrenhall is canonically haunted AF and people dream of truths they dare not speak aloud. I tell you, every moment of this show is like a gift to those of us that love the world of ‘A Song Of Fire & Ice’!!.

I think they are kinda biased against Alicent there is nothing she could do know if Rhae spoke maybe a few weeks ago she could have negotiated something (not likely) but now there is no chance.Alicent has too tell hetself there has been no mistake otherwise it would drive herself insane.
