Do not correct a fool, or he will hate you; correct a wise man, and he will appreciate you.’ This is timeless! It’s amazing how George Washington’s insights are still so relevant today. Anyone else learning new lessons from his quotes?

I find it incredibly interesting how this man who is clearly wise, felt it was “okay and just” to enslave other human beings under the guise that they are less than human.

It was okay because he needed to maintain a foothold to cultivate leadership in the growing state,
or else he would not lead the Massachusetts militia and eventually the Continental Army.
It didn't benefit black people, natives, etc. But I think a lot of white people benefited from that,
but more importantly, the ones who were able to stick with the founding principles Washington fought for, had developed and delivered to us the greatest nation.
But none of it would be possible without leadership, and in harsh, savage, rural america, that always meant slavery of the other races. Let's make no mistake about that.

That is so true. It obviously was wrong. We can wish that these forefathers had the wisdom to see the evils of slavery and to do something about it. But, before we get too judgmental, it was the times they lived in. To build their wealth, the practice was to find it expedient to enslave other people. So, what can we moralize in our times? Are we not enslaved by our government and big tech spying on us to watch our every move? When we go to a digital currency, will we not be enslaved by governments and the elite’s control over our financial transactions? What do we do about being assessed by DEI (diversity, equity, Inclusion) and ESG (environment, social, and government) rating systems that control our behavior? Do we not put the poison in our bodies from the processed food from our food and agriculture industries enabled by the government FDA and other agencies? Do we not go to war at the drop of a hat when our Oligarchs, Military Industrial Complex, and government want to distract us or see an opportunity to get incredibly wealthy? We can go on and on with this. Our world is getting ever closer to being an enslaved society where we work and die without the freedom of achieving and enjoying life while we fill the pockets of the controlling elite. Forget about the inequities of the past. Really, what do we do to end our enslavement in today’s world?

Many people today believe unborn babies are more worthless than their pets and want the legal right to kill their own children. So which is worse: slavery, or killing your baby?

I find it interesting that you seem ignorant of the prevailing social, moral and political mores of his time. A quarter of a millennium ago no one considered slavery immoral. Jefferson owned slaves (to his credit he freed them at his death.) The glory of this country is that it proves out it’s declarative and constitutional vision. The corrections are bitter, bloody and seldom timely, but they ARE realized.
