- I've been using the Honor Magic 6 Pro for a full day now, and I'm so excited to share my initial thoughts on this phone. In this video, I dive into the hardware, camera, and MagicOS 8. Here's a quick breakdown of what I cover:
Hardware: Stunning design, premium feel, thoughts on the curved display
Camera: Initial impressions, sample photos, zoom capabilities, consistency, and portrait mode
Software: MagicOS 8, new features like Magic Portal, customizable home screen options, and my remaining gripes
Overall, I'm really impressed with the Honor Magic 6 Pro so far. There's so much more to explore and I'll be doing a full review soon, including more camera tests and comparisons with phones like the Galaxy S24 Ultra and Xiaomi 14 Ultra.

No smartphone will ever be perfect, we are all aware of that. But, when you consider all the bits and pieces, the asking price, which is usually, a hefty amount cheaper than s24u or 15pro max, for me it becomes a no brainer. Honor did it last year, with magic 5 pro and they've done it again, they've made an almost perfect phone. In my book, that's good enough.

I am really considering, if I need to change my Motorola Edge 30 Pro flagship from August 2022 with a new phone at all, but this phone had me decide I like it so much, I want to upgrade without actually needing it. Can I ask you ery important question, I am not able to find a straight answer on YT- does the Magic 6 Pro support Google Services, as all my Androids , all my details, contacts, Microsoft Authenticator are on Google Android phones?

Same here I hav red magic 8s pro an now I hav buy this honor 6 pro ...but yeah I m not use to it to play game in these one ...I tried honor of kings in these I feel glossy type graphics an in red magic I feel little smooth
Ro me it's the best phone of 2024 already. Because we have 3D face security aswell.

I think Honor did the zoom that way because they could get a larger aperture. The smaller the aperture the easier it is to have a higher optical zoom. I saw a video from lover of tech where the Samsung zoom is awful in low light but the honor is great. So the honor will be good in more scanerios but only up to maybe 30x. Most pics over 30x isn't usable anyway so I think Honor maybe chose the right route. It's nice to be able to use the zoom lens at night too.
I've been testing out the camera and comparing it with the S24 Ultra, and yeah, your points are spot on. Zoom is pretty solid up to 10x - it still looks good. But at 30x, it's a no-go for me; things start getting really blurry. And 100x? Forget about it, totally unusable. Night zoom does seem to have an edge over the S24 Ultra, though.

Coming from S23 Ultra, Honor Magic 6 Pro has some advantages but also a lot of disadvantages...
Advantages:
- good display that's not getting your eyes tired;
- amazing battery life( with s23 ultra I couldn't pass the 5h SOT, while with Honor I have easily 8h);
- good amount of customizable things; easy to use interface(100% copy from Huawei);
and now the bad parts:
- camera quality it's really bad compared to s23 ultra( I could zoom and no quality degradation happened due to 10x optical zoom--> you can;t beat optics and fool with sht AI);
- video quality it's really worse due to EIS instead of OIS , here scamsung was the king;
- fingerprint sensor it's placed in the down part of the screen and it's really hard to unlock it;
- face unlock sometimes works sometimes not, it has the advantage that's working even in the dark, for the scamsung it was needed a really bright screen to achieve this;
- really slow software support, just image that honor magic 5 pro didn't even get yet a14...
- really slow HW replacement if you have warranty issues(at least in my country - Romania)
I hope that Magic 7 pro will bring a at least 5x telephoto, better software support, and improved aftersales support.
Absolutely, the battery life is a total win here-it's pretty amazing. And about the camera, I wouldn't call it bad at all. I actually did a side-by-side with the S24 Ultra in different settings, and I was pretty happy with what I saw. I've got a video coming out on Wednesday to show you what I mean. Oh, and it's got OIS for the camera, not just EIS, so that's a bonus. Face Unlock? Works like a charm for me. But yeah, when it comes to the software, they've definitely got some work to do there.
Honor is the best.. at least they have courage to try with new technology like there c1 signal boosting chip , 3d face unlock , biggest battery amazing charging speed , best screen , strongest front glass at nominal price comparison to samsung or apple..
Honor truly puts a lot of effort into research and development, and it's evident in products like the Magic V2 and Magic 6 Pro. Honestly, I'm not bothered if they draw inspiration from Apple, be it in software features or design elements like the magic capsule and icons.
@@JMTMarc magic capsule was introduced by honor. Apple copied it ;). It was introduced in lower-price model from X series, dont remember which model exactly
Great Review, can you please tell me does the Honor Magic 6 Pro /MagicOS 8 support Google Mobile Services, like all my contacts synced, all my apps, notes, which I download every time I change Android phone from google Play? Maybe even does it support Microsoft Authenticator (I think it should, if the answer Google Services is Yes)? Thank You
As long as it's the global version, yes! Everything google related is fully supported and works flawlessly. When you import a device from china, it will have a China ROM and then that's a different story.
@@JMTMarc I am in Europe in Bulgaria and my carrier offers the 12GB RAM with Google Play services, I asked them:) Another very important question, if you know please- does is support Desktop Mode, like my Edge 30 Pro "Ready For, or Samsung's Dex? I really use the UCB-C to HSMI or DisplayPort to use the phone like a commuter on Monitor/TV. Thanks

I m using magic 5 pro and really it is better than many other flagship phones.
I would not say better. There is no bad flagship phone nowadays.
Have the green one since monday, not decided yet if i'm gonna keep it. But wow the display is way better than the one of the s23u.

Image quality is very comaprable. I already did a separate video about the two. In terms of performance, build quality etc also very comparable. M6P has better battery life und fast charging. S24U has the better screen, mostly because of the anti-reflective glass and of course the whole Samsung ecosystem and available accessoires.

Are you referring to using Instagram's photo app? Unfortunately, I can't provide insight on that as I don't use Instagram for content creation.
Tbh I’ve used Honor wayy back then ( I lost that phone😢 ) but I have never predicted that they would be the new Flagship killer ( in my opinion ) and this phone actually cost wayy cheaper than the S24U in my country so its definitely a go for me

I'd tried all flagship phone 2024 including iPhone 15 Pro Max. Honor Magic 6 Pro is my primary phone.

Does it make sence to take this phone after iphone 15 pro max? I am tired from ios and want android phone with eyes protection screen. Camera matters for mea lot, though
I ask myself the same question, I use the Pixel 8 Pro but I'm not sure whether it can keep up with the photos. If he advises you to get the honor, I could certainly buy it too.

Among them, the Honor Magic 6 Pro stands out as a noteworthy option. Additionally, the Samsung S24 Ultra is an exceptionally solid choice. I'm planning to release a camera comparison of these two models next week, which should provide some insightful perspectives. Also, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and the OnePlus 12 are worth taking into account. While I haven't had the opportunity to evaluate these two devices personally as of yet, I'm anticipating the arrival of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra next week for testing.

@@JMTMarc thank you 🙏 I’d buy Samsung but unfortunately their screen has same PWM as iPhone , I’m not sure I’m sensitive to PWM but sometimes my eyes get tired and hurt. So to be sure , I’ve decided to check phones which have law PWM.
By the way I’m thinking about one plus 12, but I think that Honor has better camera.
The camera module hangs quite low, which means that a finger sometimes accidentally gets into the picture when taking ultra-wide-angle shots. To avoid this, you have to hold the somewhat top-heavy smartphone by the lower edge. Not exactly the most stable solution.
If I then add the camera quality, especially in the ultra-wide-angle and video range, the Honor Magic 6 Pro Magic 6 Pro has rather disappointed this year. It feels like a step backwards compared to last year and is therefore not a candidate for my daily driver.
Let's hope that Honor will not only work on a better RRP without artificial discounts next year, but also on a better camera setting. At the moment, I would rather go for last year's model, but the decision for a daily driver has long since been made.
That's the problem with big and heavy camera modules on Smartphones. It's even worse in the Xiaomi Ultra. I really liked the M6P from a hardware and performance d I'm standpoint but was rather underwhelmed with the results the camera produced. Too saturated, contrasty and processed for my taste.

Awesome phone wife's got a pixel 7 pro or something and even she says it takes amazing pics battery life is very very good I'm still on 62% at 11pm so it's a all day battery for sure , lmao as to the screen it's excellent .

It's definitely a great phone! Camera is very good, but not as good as the cameras of other flagships.

Absolutely no need for it. I have the honor magic 6 pro and the s24 ultra for work. I can not see any difference on either. the screen is tiny on both. it's a gimmick. Trust me you will not notice it and it will save a little bit of battery life.
