    Looks like some nice improvements over the last version. Ever planning on making that A-kit shootout video you always talked about?

      My last attempt didn't go so well as each brand's base settings were in very different directions and the production sets I had setup for me were way more tailored for my needs. I took four other riders with and we basically all completely disagreed on how to rate them all, ha!

    Hey Michael, love the detail in the vid and how you physically pull the whole shock apart and explain the function of each piece. Any chance of doin something with the Showa BFRC Shock??

    Good video, I like they make no religion or ideology out of the bladder/piston question. The rebound now seems to have the same adjusters (hi and low) as the comp always had. But it is far less important than for comp imho - but still nice to have. Interesting that the old TRAX System has disapeared, that was really special in function, but also reason for frequent maintainance. The new one is nothing similar and can (in contrast) be acchieved with shim change aka valving. But OK, now its external and the rider can tune on track.

    For PDS (EXC) KTMs, would you recommend this over the Ohlins TTX Flow (with HS compression adjuster)? A riders are complaining about Ohlins, that PDS shock is not progressive enough...

  • @23mxmaster
    @23mxmaster 5 років тому +1

    I think its a good advantage having both compression cartridge seperate, because cartridge are made with bigger port/needle and can take more flow from the 18mm shaft, this will prevent cavitation and fading issue,what is you thought ?

    • @MichaelLindsay
      @MichaelLindsay  5 років тому +1

      I agree on the charge coming from the 18 shaft but not so much on the fade factor. Rider feedback doesn't really seem to differ between a single to dual adjuster system.

    What kind of conditions would you tune the trax to? Do the xact pro shocks have any different coatings to the stock shock?

  • @SkinnySkinch
    @SkinnySkinch Рік тому

    Man I wish yall showed us how to remove the spring with that x-trig adjuster on it. I can't access the snap ring theres still preload on the spring with the x-trig backed all the way out

      I know this is a year old comment but did you ever figure out how to take the spring off? I just got the shock but only weigh 135 ish. Definitely need to change the spring out. Thanks

    Very cool and informative, shame the guy doesn't ride himself by the sound of things, maybe you could do a comparison yourself or with someone that has seat time experience and any noticeable difference. Looking forward for future content from you 👍🏻

      Michal Litt Rob himself grew up riding and racing, fairly accomplished local level racer.
      My riding impression of this setting wasn’t the best, as with any set of suspension I still recommend getting it setup for the end user, so I brought Rob on from a technical stand point for my questions. My seat of the pants comments werent that positive but I wanted to cover what advantages the components themself have.

      Michael Lindsay Oh I see, so I'm assuming that they will help you set it up for you? And hopefully you'll bless us with some feedback :)

    • @MichaelLindsay

      Michal Litt sadly it’s my buddy’s shock, not mine. I just rode the base WP setting for reference reasons. I do have Race Tech working on some Showa A-Kit I sourced for a project and they did a set of production KX450 stuff for me that I’ll post on soon.

    I want to know if this works and how much better than stock rear shock

    • @MichaelLindsay
      @MichaelLindsay  5 років тому

      Front Line Media depends on settings. It always depends on settings. The components can be better but if the setting isn’t good, it can be worse than stock.

    • @MichaelLindsay
      @MichaelLindsay  5 років тому

      @joe lepore In certain situations, production shocks can be made similar to a good kit shock. Depends on what kit shock we're discussing and what situation we're speaking of.

      Torosus Horneri I don’t like working on bikes that much, I like riding them more. However, I did work in suspension a bit with KYB on some race duty stuff. And for 2020 I’ll be doing something quite big related to teams...

      @@MichaelLindsay do you like it?

    • @MichaelLindsay
      @MichaelLindsay  5 років тому +2

      @@cuddleman spring rate was incorrect for me, I swapped it to something more appropriate but I believe the base setting provided by WP was still too stiff for my needs. For me, kit suspension can be beneficial but as with all suspension I recommend getting it tailored to your usage but a reputable tuner. Kit suspension can be better than production stuff, but it can also be worse if the setting is wrong.

    hey michael, im interested in interviewing some local mx companies around me. could you dm on insta or make a video on some tips on how to email the companies you contact to interview?

    • @MichaelLindsay
      @MichaelLindsay  5 років тому +3

      Honestly, my route is extremely informal. I rarely email requests, I just text or stop by, I grew up around and sorta inside the moto industry so most of the people I deal with I've know for a long time. I spent the last six years working for the second largest moto media company, so dealing with brands was my day in and day out. If you're looking to contact a brand you've never been in touch with for a product or interview request. Simply explain who you are and what your outlet for content is. What it is you're looking for and what the format of the end content will look like.

    Someone explain why can't they mass produce this shock and put it in a stock bike from the factory What's it made of gold or some precious metals Its all bullshit . It's all basic metals . When do we get this shock in 10 years bit late I'm 53 now .
