I love this game!!, I bought two of the Original Cover your assets. Now I have to buy 2 more sets of the new one because I usually play with 12 ppl. I highly recommend this game to anyone with friends/family.
Got this game as a Christmas gift, but have a question on the rules.... In a 2 player game, if player one makes a set with a card out of a draft pile and player 2 challenges it, is that considered Player 2's turn? The rules make it sound as if it's still part of player 1's turn.
If the first player draws and uses the only card in the discard pile to make a set, does that player turn over another card from the deck to make a discard pile so thar the next player has equal opportunity (can see a discard card, too)? Or, if the first player uses the only card in the discard pile, does play proceed with no card face up in the discard pile?
Hi! Great question. You don't ever flip over a new card to refill the discard pile. So play sometimes does continue with an empty discard pile, until a player discards and draws on their turn.
If play goes clockwise and someone challenged me and I won, do I draw back up and go again or does the person next to me now go after I’ve drawn my hand back?
Great question. After any challenge, all players refill their hands starting with the person who's turn it is. So if it's my turn and I challenge you and you win, I refill first, then you do. Hope that helps!
One quick question. If I discard a card, and another player discard another one. Now I will have two cards. When I get from the discard pile, if I need one card, do I always get the top one, or I can chose? Also, if I need two, can I get both cards? Can I get one card from the pile and another from the stack?
Hello! Thanks for the question. If you choose to discard a card on your turn, you immediately draw a new card, ending your turn. Unless the draw pile is out, you shouldn't ever start your turn with less cards because you've discarded previously. To answer the other part of your question, you have the option to use the top card from the discard pile to create a new set. You pair that card with one from your hand. You are not allowed to choose other cards from the discard pile, nor are you allowed to draw more than one from the discard pile. I hope this helps! Feel free to give Grandpa Beck a call if you need more clarification. His phone number is on the back of the rulebook. Have fun playing!
I have one question. For example , On my turn, I use my wild card such as Swap card. Then Can I draw one card from the draw pile to fill up to 5 cards in my hand ??
Hello! A wild can only be used in place of another Asset card, so it could not be played as a SWAP. However, at the end of your turn, you always refill your hand back to 5 cards.
in the 2 player version, if a draft pile is done, do we refill the draft pile from the deck up to 10 cards? also if i see 2 orange cards from the draft piles and i have 3 orange cards in my hand, can i make that all a stack together?
Hello! Great questions! First, no, you don't refill a draft pile once it is empty. Second, you can only use ONE asset or wild card from your hand to form a stack. You CAN use both of the orange cards on top of the draft piles with the one orange card from your hand. Happy playing!
If you are playing the advanced rules, you can lay down one pair as your first action, and a second pair as your second action. And I'm so sorry you were missing those cards! Please contact jessica@grandpabecksgames.com and she'll send you a new deck. Thanks!
I have a question. At the end when i have played all the cards from in my hand and others not, are they still allowed to steel from my pile if i have no cards anymore in my hand?
Thank you for asking. Yes! That's the tricky part about the last round. You don't want to use your cards too fast or it'll be easier for people to steal from you. Let us know if you have any more questions!
Hello! At the end of your turn, you draw as many cards as you need to to reach 5 cards in your hand. So if you used two cards from your hand to create a new pair, you would draw two cards. If you used one card from your hand and one from the top of the discard pile to create a new pair, you would draw one card. You also refill your hand if you used cards to defend your top set that someone else tried to steal. That player would refill at the end of their turn, and then you would as well. I hope that helps!
Love this game, it's a family favorite now! Question: If a player already has a pair in their hand and can also draw from the discard pile to use with another card in their hand are they allowed to do so and lay down 2 assets in 1 turn?
In the basic rules, you are only allowed to do one action per turn. In that case, no, you can't lay down two sets of Assets in one turn. The new addition has advanced rules that allow that to happen. If you haven't already, check those out. Have fun!
sorry last question but with the 3 player version are we supposed to remember which draft we got all of our sets from? we sometimes couldn’t remember which drafts we got some of our sets from so we didn’t know who was allowed to challenge me.
I was introduced to this game over the weekend. What fun! The others players had played before, using an older game. The new game they had used five cards instead of four. (Great idea!) They hadn’t read the new rules yet, and I had a question the way they were playing them. Question: To begin play, a set had to be laid down on one’s turn. This first were laid down upside down to indicate that they could never be stolen. But they said they could not attempt to steal another player’s top cards, unless they had, too, had placed a second set (that could be stolen) on their stack. It didn’t seem intuitive to me! Is that the rule?
Hello, thanks for asking. In the official rules of Cover Your Assets, you do have to have 1 set down in order to steal from other players. That set is placed face up, not face down, and you only need the one to steal. It sounds like your friends may have played with some fun house rules. Hope that helps!
If you are playing the advanced rules, with two actions per turn, yes. If you are playing the basic rules, you are only allowed to do one thing per turn, so you can only challenge one person on your turn. I hope that helps!
I'm not much of a card player, and this was the first new game I learned in many many years. I love it! Just one minor complaint though, haha: it's missing Bitcoin. The SEC officially designates bitcoin an asset. It's not just an asset though; it's a new asset CLASS, and the first new asset class to come along since equities were invented 500 years ago. So I hope to see Bitcoin added to your game's stable of assets in the not too distant future! 🙂
Great acting in this one!

Thank you for your kind words. We're so glad you are enjoying the game!
About to play my first round off A$$ets with my two favorite people! So excited!
How did it go? Hopefully you had fun!
@@grandpabecksgames I love it! Thank you for making these games!

Hi! Question: what if I use the swap card when I only have one asset, does it count as bottom/top asset of my pile for the swap?
Hello, good question! Yes, you can swap your only set with someone else's top (or only) set.
Can you lay down more than one pair at a time, and also, my deck didn’t come with the swap move or penny jar cards…
If you are playing the advanced rules, you can lay down one pair as your first action, and a second pair as your second action. And I'm so sorry you were missing those cards! Please contact jessica@grandpabecksgames.com and she'll send you a new deck. Thanks!

what is the rule for drawing cards from deck? how many cards? i know it says up to 5 but that is too vague

Oh good question. Once you've added the set to your stack, anyone can try and steal it. That rule only applies to when you initially draft the set.
How many different types of assets are there?
Hello! There are 10 different Assets, and 2 types of wilds.
I was introduced to this game over the weekend. What fun! The others players had played before, using an older game. The new game they had used five cards instead of four. (Great idea!) They hadn’t read the new rules yet, and I had a question the way they were playing them.

What if I’m defending with 1k, does the guy who challenges me have to throw 2 to attack?
Great question! Yes, if you defend with a Penny Jar, they need to use two cards to attack again.
2:14 huh? This doesn’t make any sense.
are you allowed to count the number of cards on the top set of a player’s stack?
Great question! No, you can't touch someone else's set or stack. The trick is to try to remember what went into the top set. Good luck!
