People hating on Georgina is a bit unfair imo. She's just a very young and highly competitive athlete, who is taking part in the biggest competition of her life. She was a great competitor all series and unfortunately had a shocker on the night. I would be as pissed off as she was, but her anger and frustration wasn't directed at anyone else but herself, so I don't see the problem really.
@@STEJTHEGREATEST Oh come on I really think you're reading way too much into it. She was just saying she still had the energy left to complete the course easily. I also think she was recognising that the only thing that stopped her winning was her poor performances during the events and subsequently not picking up enough points to give her a good headstart in the eliminator. Don't forget she was only 19 and spent the whole series talking about how she was a high-performance competitive athlete, so of course she wasn't perhaps as mature as you want her to be. I don't think he even did Suspension Bridge other than in Season 2, his record was 3 wins and 1 defeat. He became more of an all rounder after this season.
I think Jean VS Helen and Dean VS Phil would have been an amazing finale. I suppose we did get Dean and Phil in the Semi Final but their eliminator would have been an amazing last round.
Damn! Athletically I thought Georgina should have this one in the bag, but she seemed pissed off all through the night....her nerves got the better of her.
20:04; This shows that John Anderson was just an important part of the show as Ullie, Fash, or the Gladiators, as we get to know the man a little better. Also, notice that one of the athletes he's worked with over the years was Judy Simpson. If that name sounds familiar to you, it's because she was Gladiator Nightshade. ua-cam.com/video/TADUZ8hl0aA/v-deo.html Here's an interview I've found from the 1986 European Athletics Championships, where John talks about Judy's bronze medal-winning performance in the heptathlon, which was her personal best in the event.
In the end, the best man and woman won. Phil deserved it because he was the all around best that season and Jean won because she had the better attitude. Georgina on paper was a better athlete, but Jean handled the pressure whereas Georgina crumbled and sulked. Just for that, everyone was glad she lost. As a whole, the final was a formality. Not much excitement. The semi finals were so eventful, that this was anti-climatic. Phil didn't even get out of 3rd gear to win while Bryan was burned out.
LOL Fash was clearly trying to wind up the contenders after Hang Tough. Telling Brian and Georgina how they could have done with the points when they were both gutted and claiming Jean only had a second left to hold on when it was more like 20 seconds. The contenders did a fairly good job at not taking the bait.

For the women's final I wasn't sure who the favourite was going into this. i thought possibly Georgina because she was the fastest of the Eliminator in S2. Jean though was calm and cool and maybe for Georgina wanting it too much allowed mistakes to creep in. Conversely, Jean was consistent when it mattered the most. The mens race was clearer with Phil being the favourite. Brain to be fair had been excellent throughout the series and deserved to finish 2nd. His lower points total in the final gave him too much ground to make up.
Phil was unbeatable in this series, especially when it came to Eliminator. He was king of Gladiators, his toughest test was in the semi (Dean) and he beat him, so as long as he played his cards right he was pretty much Champion in waiting. Funny that the stand in Jean went on to win the whole thing, she wasn't good enough for the start of the show but she end up the winner. Georgina's immaturity and ego got the best of her and Jean played it safe, the perfect winner.
When Scorpio was recently asked on The Glad podcast if there was any contenders they didnt like, she said to Jet if she remembers the contender we use to call Timotel, which Jet said yes.
