I love the chemistry between Octoman and Bio Rex. Rex is one of my favourite characters of the franchise. It's too bad that he gets minimal screentime in this entire anime.
Yeah he's under rated. I think he gets decent screen time in this, I absolutely love the bromance between Octoman and Rex, they really have each other's back, it's quite admirable.
Did I see director Tanaka use the boast pad technique I see used in F-Zero GX gameplay. The technique being if you get the boast pad on the side like he did you can get 1.1x extra boast.
Personally, my favorite part of this episode was watching Tanaka get to race. He's my favorite racer in GX, and seeing that he has some legitimate skill in a machine was awesome.
I was playing gx yesterday and I was about to win but on the last stretch John Tanaka blasted right by me like a bullet shot out of a gun and I finished 2nd. I totally wasn't expecting that and that was the first race I lost after winning so many. I said "wow that wonder wasp was fast!"
I like that octomans kind of a good guy. He stays true to his word and helps out his people in the end. You almost wonder how he ended up with Dark Million
Eh he’s a bit sleazy and dishonest (lying about his victories and such) so it’s understandable that he’d try to make money through dishonest groups, but it’s nice to see he truly is supporting his home planet!
Good focus on Tanka & Octoman. I liked the spaceport w/the fan club. Bart helping out. Also, Clank's thoughts on lying. Jody got in on the pre-race laugh. 🙂 Solid menace from Zoda. Fun ending & ep. 😉
Octoman is, IMO, one of the worst cases of character assassination in the entire anime. In the main series, he's very similar to Leon in that both characters send the prize money back to their homeworlds for relief efforts. However, while Zou is managing to recover, Takoran is literally only able to hold on by a thread thanks to Octoman's contributions. Which actually gives Jody's nasty one-sided rivalry with him a very dark spin - for Jody it's a matter of a grudge, but for Octoman it's the survival of his people at stake. Yeah, Jody's actually a villain in the main series, at least in Octoman's backstory. But in the anime, Octoman is... well, still the perceived hero of his people and still legitimately wants to support them. But he's been shoehorned into the role of an ineffective villainous henchman... and a Chuck Testa gag in Zoda's story in GP Legend. And I wouldn't be surprised if the _only_ reason they did this is because he's "freaky lookin'".

I was NOT expecting Tanaka to go that hard! He’s usually such a pushover, seeing him confident and even aggressive was a shock.
Octoman and Bio Rex sure is the Bebop and Rocksteady of this show.

Honestly he’s got pretty good screentime considering he’d probably be a one-off like Gomar and Shioh otherwise!

I think it's called zipping or zipper? But yeah, this technique is used in GX. You can see Death Anchor and Deep Claw use it at 14:17.

@@godgirlsguitars yeah, high speed with really solid traction. Can't take many hits, but so long as you're careful and know the track you can recover.

Love how Tanaka mentions skimming the boost pads, a legitimate technique in GX to get more speed. But then they correlate energy with fuel.
