Another great Video and Tom really helped fill in some missing holes in the history on this mine !Jason I look forward to seeing the future progress of this mine !
Id love to see and hear him go over the survey they did; I just cant seem to picture the whole layout. Delighted to meet you, Tom, hope we see more of you after a great holiday season for all!
That was too cool to have the old miner come in. His insight was amazing to hear. He's a time capsule for the mine. Awesome! Thank you. Get that blast retainer figured out.
Im thinking old conveyor belt matting rather than plain rubber, its loads tougher and of course also heavier. If you seated a bar at the opening to the working face, at a decent distance, it shouldnt take as much....?
“Good times, Boyz. The mines have blessed us and the snows are here. It’s time for town. The ladies are calling.” Fires 6 g’n in air. Thanks for taking us with you on this incredible season. Heavy Pans!!!
Jason I will be waiting for next years mine operation, I so wish I could be a part of your operation. At 93 years I am not able to do this work anymore.Thank you for your videos.
To have the older miner talking was incredible. It was like a lesson in what is good and what’s useless. He’s a real character. I still don’t know how the heck you can work stooped over removing all that ore and equipment. My back is stuffed and I actually start aching. Hats off to you all for a great show and history lesson in mining. 👏👏🇦🇺
That former miner is video gold, can’t believe you didn’t name the episode after him ! most interesting part of the mine in my opinion..but that’s pretty cool favorite episode so far ! He looks like he could still work the mine maybe spend the winter, Pan the floor and make some good content for you guys!
🤔he might be the leading hand for next season.. mine work is tough on the human so he might be a little over the physical stuff but his knowledge of previous mine work is priceless.
Hes done his bit over the years, probably spends a lot of time in pain. I hope Jason sent him home with a slab or two to put on his mantel...and a bag of floor any time he asks. 🥰🤗
Having the older miners visit the mine is absolutely priceless. Loved every minute of your interview with him. Hopefully he comes back, or you have some others visit who have worked the mine previously.
Stories from old miners are the best! He'll remember this visit for the rest of his life! Great way to end the year! Amazing video! Can't wait to see you feeding the crusher & shaker table! Thumbs up! Stay safe. Jim
Me too.. I hope Jason puts a crusher at the "blacksmith shop" so then it can be moved down the mountain to be processed or bagged up for paydirt/hard ore. Then in a few years have guests come through and mine their own ore under supervision. That "lighting quartz" fricken winner in my book much like Dan Hurds ocean picture stone fricken gorgeous
Such an enjoyable year watching you all. I’m an old man now with terrible knees and wish I was able to get out and sluice. I did it for years but now I have to rely on your adventures. Thank you Jason and friends…. Can’t wait now for the upcoming wet season, milling videos.
I made the hike years ago and read the book cover to cover a few times; it's a real treat to hear from Tom and see the old (and new) workings. You guys are tough as nails... I hope you strike it rich... you deserve it!
Sad to see the season end I know it's short being in the mountains. Could watch these episodes everyday. Cool to see the stories of the previous miner and I'm glad he bought up all the gold you have on the floor.. I'd give anything to spend a day or two cleaning and panning what I could off that floor
I'm really looking forward to punching into the rise so ore removal isn't as strenuous, I think total removal of ore was 3t ish last year 1t left behind removed at the start of this year then +4T this year along with supreme samples between 2 guys that's huge also their window of work is like 4 months at the most we got 7 episodes this season, tremendous effort from these TWO. Next season will bring its own issues once they punch through to the rise but will make extracting ore alot easier.
Your conversation with Tom was incredible. It seems to me that you might have already hit the fault with the clayey gouge zone in the last episode. Maybe the fault orientation changed slightly or there’s another fault parallel to the raise/fault. Awesome series! Sad to see this season is done. Looking forward to seeing more next season and the milling and refining process from the ore of this season!
Jason...This must be the Best educational and practical hard rock, underground gold mining show on the Tube. You guys actually do and narrate everything. So nice to follow each episode and can't wait for the next. You showed just how much hard work it takes to set up the mine, drill, shoot, muck and finally haul out the prized Gold Ore. Then the process of crushing, milling and separation on the shaker table. And what about all the trials and tribulations of refining and smelting. You do it all, so nice to see. What posseses you to Toil so hard is it the Show or the Gold...Ha.Ha. Thank You Greatly. P.S. Try panning the brown clay gouge sometimes it's worth the effort.
I thought that too just for a look but I doubt there's anything worthwhile in there just simply because there's no layers of minerals (yup its been blasted and would have moved a bunch) but from what we see from the vain there nothing there, what we do know is the vein pinches at that point and opens up closer to the rise
This has been absolutely fascinating! I've never seen anything about mining before. You guys accomplished a tremendous amount in this season. Very impressive, very interesting, loved it all! Best of luck and I hope your yield is fantastic! Old granny in Omaha here!
What a great treasure to have Tom share the history of the mine. Jason if at all possible please get more old timers into the mines to share their soon to be gone stories. It had to be a great experience for Tom to visit the mine as well. I live near you and hope to one day to be able to visit you learn more about mining.
You all are out of your minds!! Such back breaking work. Can't imagine what it would have been like in the 1800's and not electricity. Love your show!!!
[To the tune of “The Final Countdown”]….it’s: *_THE FINAL MUCK-OUT_* 👀😅😅 Thanks Jason for taking us with you into a working mine and giving us an awesome combination between a history, mining and industrial process video/lesson! I found it awesome to follow and will continue to watch as long as you put out videos! Thanks again, and CHEERS!! 🖖😎👍
Thanks again Jason for the great recordings. You get to do the stuff I've only been able to dream about the last sixty years .... its been fun and intriguing .... looking forward to watching the refining process you go through to see what you get! Also, thank Tom for coming to share his stories and knowledge. Make sure you tell him he was a great asset to sharing some mining history with us.
Great to see Tom Anderson after all these years. Did not know he was involved in Mining. My interaction with Tom was with the PUD and NSEA. As a private contractor, I installed a 5 acre riparian project on the PUD property, some 25 years ago. Tom suggested bagging up floor area at the old ore dump in the mine. Good idea! Look forward to processing this season ore haul !!
Very cool to get the old dude's stories and views. The better you understand the past, the more insight you get for the future. Such cool looking rock, let alone the metal values. You should talk to the guys who 3D mapped for Brent down in Cerro Gordo. A 3D rendering of the diggings, vein structure etc might be helpful for you, and fascinating as hell to the rest of us! Thanks for all the hard work. Awesome rocks! Can't wait to get mine processed. Still not happy with my mill, so gotta do something different. Good results for what I've processed tho. Out of the super fines and sands in the bags, I managed to scare up 1.7g. Pretty sure I blew plenty thru, will re-run a couple times to be sure!
Yeah that would be cool but expensive, poor Brent has had nothing but issues from his first map because they are so limited with time down there mind you the drone mapping would be absolutely sick to get into those hard to reach places for establishing weather it's worth clearing out the obstructions, you also have to keep in mind Mt Baker mine is really small compared to Cerro Gordo that is a freaking big ass mine😂
Thank you for this amazing content Jason! We love and appreciate you! I love how the gentleman you had with you knew so much about the geology! We gotta see if this rudy guy is still around!!!
I love how you guys improvise. Using the wheel hub for the cart wheels and the bouy for dropping the ore down. You don't need specialized tools or machinery for every operation. Adapting things to work for what you need is a valuable skill. Can't wait for next season!
I really was hoping they would punch through to the rise this season just because seeing the process and fricking moving +4T though that ish would have absolutely done my head in lol. I watch them both and they do a great job of keeping each other going, when Jason had down time he films and the same with Harry. When they rest we get content and it's all "on the fly" no scripts, here's a family friendly of what we are up2 man I'd be swearing like a sailor 😂😂
Maximum respect to you two. You do the old timers proud. SWEAT OF YOUR BROW! What better way to try and set your fortune. I'm exhausted, I literally feel beat watching all these videos. All your viewers get to experience this with you, and that's AMAZING! THANK YOU!
Tom said what I was thinking there is Gold on the Floor! 23.29 Think about what gold sinks to the floor. All those tiny flakes that fall off when you show us the gold in a piece of quartz that flake off. Are they on the floor?
Soo very cool to hear Tom's stories! I thought for one moment you might have Tom set off the last round there for the season... That would be great to see his smile hearing the blasts going off down in the hole. Great series again! Very interested to see some results from this load of ore> Cheers! Dom.
Thanks for all the great videos, I’m sure your ready for a nice break. Are you going to put most of the ore through your crusher and get some gold bars out of it? Those are my favorite videos of breaking it all down to gold. I would love to buy some of your pieces on line, but I just can’t afford it,being disabled, but sure love watching. Have a nice break.
There has to be an easier way to earn a living, Jason! But of course, none of those would be nearly as fun and adventurous! Get an Eimco or something to help with mucking! Great to have the history from Tom.
Sad to see the season over and the bags still had to go down last years shoot. I hoped you’d reach the raise and build a new shoot. Why was the season so short with only about 2 weeks of work?
I think Jason said workable time is about 4months during the year, at the start of this season the deck at the mine entrance needed to be rebuilt and after every blast you have to wait at least 24hrs for the gasses to dissipate. Realistically I don't see these guys working the whole 4 months because everything about mining is fricking tough on the body so I wouldn't be suprised if they are only doing 4/5days max at a time and all totally weather dependent. How long do you think it would take to move 4+T of ore after seeing the process? 3days? 5days? Oh and also the start of this season they still had ore that was staged (about 1T) to be removed because the snow beat them last year Jason did that alone along with rebuilding the entrance deck. There is alot that doesn't get filmed because like the mucking out we see start and the end but that might take 2days and we see in the video 30 to 40 seconds giving the impression of a day or less.
@@alexdrockhound9497oh yes both these guys are stupidity busy, Harry has a great team behind him so taking time out for his normal operations to help Jason or should I say be partners with Jason is awesome, I often think people see this stuff and don't really understand how long the monotonous stuff like baring down, mucking out, bagging ore, removing ore takes. Let's be honest no one is doing to watch a video of just bagging ore or mucking out, what people want to see is progress and that is hard to capture while also showing how long it actually takes and that is the hard part and it seems Jason will give us a update on the progress during down time
I'm not a gold miner or gold prospector, I just like watching this stuff on UA-cam and would really like to go find some gold in my own someday but I can't help but Wonder about panning out some of that "slip" material just to see what's in it 🤔🤔😐😁🤷♂️
It was nice to hear from the past. Blessings to him. You both are work horses . It would be nice to help and see. My wife and I get giddy when you show us gold . . Blessings
Priceless! Showing your process is helpful to anyone wanting to try to reopen a mine. I'm sure you will improve the loading process each year until you get the minimum time necessary to haul the ore out. How much is your total ore haul and gold production this year? Next year you'll get more ore with less waste. And each time something goes wrong, you learn and improve the process. I think it's beautiful that you found an old timer who worked there all the way back in the 1970s. I'll bet he's got some good tips. Maybe he can suggest some ways around any slips in the future. And you have ore waiting next year after you muck. But after all your hard work, you still have the fun anticipation of seeing what kind of gold you get. I can't wait to hear how much per ton you get.
By "gold" you mean ore right? And by "lumber" you mean workers?? 😂 On the essays of last year's ore it's heavy in galena (lots of lead and silver along with other sulfides that burn up in the process) once they punch through to the rise removal of ore will be drastically improved. I really don't think people understand how difficult and time consuming it is to remove ore atm let alone process it into a 995 gold bar (Jason has done a sample trials of the ore and it's good but not atm with the current setup too time consuming to remove the ore) if I remember correctly Jason processed about 1T of Last year's ore at the start of this year and it was OK, nothing to rave about because it needed more refining to remove the silver and lead along with all the other impurities.
🤔 yeah I would definitely think so hence the push to get to the rise.. the process would easily double if they didn't have to tripple handle bags of ore. So what I see is they punch through to the rise and ore carts take it to the "blacksmith shop" and truck it out from that it could be bagged up as specimens/raw ore
Jason, kick butt as always.Your videos are so freaking awesome. I only wish I had known the season was over i would have tried to reach out to you. I would love to get my hands-on a 5 gallon bucket from muck mountain. A full of random sulfides so I could fire roast. Then ice shock after roasting the sulfides shatter the quartz, that's left.. And then process them with different chemicals, starting with H. C. L see what dropped out, plate It out on zinc, I think would be best. To see. what medals are in it as far as led tin softer ones. Then switch to diluted nitrate boils plate out on copper to check for. Silver and then plate what's left out onto iron to check for copper. And then it's aquarium time and let see how many gold molecules are hiding.
If you ever want to let me know, I'll buy the chemicals and videotape the whole thing I won't publish it on my UA-cam till. I send it to you and you can edit it and do what you want with it. And if that means it never sees the light of day. That's perfectly fine. As far as I'm concerned, it would be your intellectual property. Nitric needs to go down in price. By the way, as of today. It's a $168 for a 2 l jug. Of 70% nitric, that's just crazy.
That really isn't going to help there's nothing a bore scope will show sure you might get an idea of what's going on but in all honesty its not until you blast you really find out what's going on. Just drilling the last blast they knew there was going to be issues because the drill bits kept getting clogged and would jam up a bore scope would just confirm what they already knew, the muddy water gushing out the holes was another indicator, then what? They need to go that direction to hit the rise so would be a waste of time for something that's already showing signs.
Could holes that reach the slip muck be stemmed first - to prevent blow-outs up the fracture - and also at the opening end? The idea is to trap the gasses inside the bore hole so they break rock, not break wind.
Inspirational. AWSOME job guys. Especially thankful to you Jason for educating us on every step of Hard Rock Mining. Follow Jeff William’s also and he would be an awesome guy to team up with for a UA-cam collaboration. Fun fun
Another great Video and Tom really helped fill in some missing holes in the history on this mine !Jason I look forward to seeing the future progress of this mine !
The conversation w/Tom was brilliant. Big thanks for inviting him up.
Every bit of history is important to the story. 100+ yr old mine whose story continues.
Id love to see and hear him go over the survey they did; I just cant seem to picture the whole layout.
Delighted to meet you, Tom, hope we see more of you after a great holiday season for all!
agreed. he even looks like an old goldminer from a movie
I can't tell you how incredibly freaking cool it is hearing Tom talk about his time at the mine. I was grinning the whole time!
Me too!
That was too cool to have the old miner come in. His insight was amazing to hear. He's a time capsule for the mine. Awesome! Thank you. Get that blast retainer figured out.
...and just imagine the cool stuff he told Jason that didn't make the video.
Now I got the watch all of Harry's videos... You guy's have busted your hump this year can't wait to see what's on the shaker table after all that...
The guy that worked the mine in the past was a really interesting guy to listen too. Mahalo for interviewing him. With Aloha...
Cool that you brought in old timer Tom for the season close. Thanks 😎
Jason I will be waiting for next years mine operation, I so wish I could be a part of your operation. At 93 years I am not able to do this work anymore.Thank you for your videos.
Thank you Jason and Harry, for showing how mining is done. I sure hope you get lots of gold.
Hearing Tom say "Yep" is something special.
Great Stuff Jason! Thanks 4 Bringing Us Along This Season. 🥳
Exactly. Love It!
wonderful to hear Tom's recollections and his memories helping to explain a lot of what you found when you took on the mine.
To have the older miner talking was incredible. It was like a lesson in what is good and what’s useless. He’s a real character. Like Jeff Williams says, who needs a gym,be a gold miner! Thanks Jason!
That was a great episode in a great season. The chat with Tom was super cool! Cheers for the vid :)

Tom is such a cool bloke with some good history.

It would be epic if you blast a fully functional Starbucks in there next season 😊. Price for a Mocha Grande, haul 4 muckbags.
I'm looking forward to the processing over the winter!
Tom is a legend. Dude even looks like an old time miner
Incredibly tedious work that gold mining in these dark and sinister tunnels. Gold panning seems easier and more fun in the outside during sunshine.

There is alot that doesn't get filmed because like the mucking out we see start and the end but that might take 2days and we see in the video 30 to 40 seconds giving the impression of a day or less.
@@mattgraham1983jason also has to focus on making youtube videos, so hes got other work to do during the summer.
Let's be honest no one is doing to watch a video of just bagging ore or mucking out, what people want to see is progress and that is hard to capture while also showing how long it actually takes and that is the hard part and it seems Jason will give us a update on the progress during down time
@@mattgraham1983 But Jason is in Washington and Harry from far south, so I guess they did the season in one go.
Big vug like that could produce some KILLER crystals!
Shards, now, most likely...sigh...
Love this actual stuff.!!! Thank you Jason!!
I'm not a gold miner or gold prospector, I just like watching this stuff on UA-cam and would really like to go find some gold in my own someday but I can't help but Wonder about panning out some of that "slip" material just to see what's in it 🤔🤔😐😁🤷♂️
This interview with Tom was excellent ! Great man !
It was nice to hear from the past. Blessings to him. You both are work horses . It would be nice to help and see. My wife and I get giddy when you show us gold . . Blessings
Well done Jason well done Harry you did a great job this season ❤
Man that conversation was golden
Getting it done ⛏️💪🏻
We need more gold!
We need more lumber!
Our gold mine is running low.!!!
By "gold" you mean ore right? And by "lumber" you mean workers?? 😂
On the essays of last year's ore it's heavy in galena (lots of lead and silver along with other sulfides that burn up in the process) once they punch through to the rise removal of ore will be drastically improved.
@mattgraham1983 I mean Warcraft. And if u dont now that.. well...
This was a masterclass and brilliant to watch. Thank you so much for taking the time to share this venture with us
Super cool getting a former miner back in with ya - hope he leaves with a sample! ;P
Well my Saturday night is set. Kick back and enjoy this episode.
Coolest episode of the season. It was supper cool to see the old timer run you through the mine!
That must be hard moving those bags hunched over like that
🤔 yeah I would definitely think so hence the push to get to the rise.. the process would easily double if they didn't have to tripple handle bags of ore.
So what I see is they punch through to the rise and ore carts take it to the "blacksmith shop" and truck it out from that it could be bagged up as specimens/raw ore
Hire that gentleman. You can tell he LOOOVES being back in there. I'd love to see him in future videos.
ayup ... you can see it in his eyes!
I was really hoping you guys were going to make it through to the raise this season.
Ohw ell, not far for next season!
I think you just made that man’s dreams come true ❤
This video was really great. Looking forward to seeing the results of your processing of the ore.
You need to use a roofers, shingle. Hoist, it's an electric motor with a platform that runs up and down a ladder
Ggreat video and the gentleman coming back after 40+ years is priceless.
You're right, Jason, "this is not how to do this". Chitty chitty bang bang.
was great having the back story.
I got a tip get and use a bore cam to inspect the drill hole to look for potential problems
Congrats on your what looks like a successful season of mining and can’t wait to see how much gold you guys pulled out this year . Love this series
Inspirational. AWSOME job guys.
Especially thankful to you Jason for educating us on every step of Hard Rock Mining. Follow Jeff William’s also and he would be an awesome guy to team up with for a UA-cam collaboration. Fun fun
God I hope to see results!! Love to watch the gold roll in and see what you did all that work for
I hope we see more of Tom next season
Jason if you ever decide to produce and pour Mt. Baker one ounce gold bars, I WANT TO BUY ONE OR TEN 😊
