Montgomery use to have 1003. They replaced all around that time. And new ones are this kind. There is an old thunder beam by Wendy's on Ann st. And I think the elementary school on Carter hill still has a thunder bolt with the new one by the road
Huh. I used to live right next to Cara Vita! Never knew that was one of the only remaining analog units. That long wind-down sound is burned into my memory - know of any other analog locations in Montgomery?
Check the sirens in Memphis, They are Whelens, Probably digital, and they definitely rotate, So im thinking we have another 4004... I caught it on camera and have uploaded it, but they stopped just as I did... I heard them go off in wail on Wednesday, probably around 3:30 PM or 1530 24hr both in CST-Chicago
Most of them have newer panels that run at 465 Hz since they were installed later in the early 2000's as the county replaced their older civil defense sirens. Some of them also have newer panels that run at 560 Hz that were either installed in 2008 or upgraded over the years. This one happens to peak at 490-ish Hz. There's at least one other older analog siren like this one in the county that runs at roughly 480 Hz.
They are the same basically. The only real difference with the Vortex series is that it's tone only. The 4004 is overall older since it came out around '89, where as the Vortex started out as the 404R '94. The 404R was tone only but could be converted to do voice from what I understand. It used the old 4004 head like the one in this video with a prototypical version of the controller used later on the Vortex series.
What's even more rare than this is finding one of these that are dual toned.
Yikes, that siren really has seen better days... Still awesome to hear an analog 864 on the system though. Nice catch!
One year later and I am still happy to be subscribed

That thunderbeam got replaced by a 4004. The beam is still there, but inactive.

thats the same tones and sirens we have here in cedar rapids iowa
Did I heard voice messages in the background at the beginning of this video?
My town only uses wail on both the 4008 and 2910 sirens
Plano, TX?
Wichita Falls Texas?
most of the other ones in Montgomery don't sound that high pitched from my experience

@@DJ2226 it is 490hz, i looked the tone hz and it sounded just like it
Does anyone know what days/time they test the system? Or have a link?
Every first Wednesday of every month at 3:30
Right, Whelen's Attack is Fast Wail. Got 3 hours of sleep and thought it was going to be Wail..silly me!
XD
yea it has seen better days you can see what looks like a little hole at 3:46
It’s a “fast wail.”
Is it okay if I use the audio for a video of mine? I'll give you credit if necessary.
Great find! Shame the head is damaged.
Looks like it's got a large bullet hole.
What’s the difference between a Whelen WPS-4004 and a Vortex R4 besides their age because I think they’re the same

Hey, after alert, how long is it before they do Attack?
When I recorded this, it was about 10 minutes.
@@DJ2226 Alright, i'll keep in mind of that because I am going to TRY to record two of these this week.
What is an analog and what does it do?
analog is a type of signal, it goes variable like 0 - 100% meanwhile digital is like 0 100 0 100
I'm not using AI, its just the answer to your stupid question
What’s wrong siren in the back
Idk
Tell me about it they don't test ours the way they should or maintain it. Attitude it will always work what happens when something does
Actually, that's "Fast Wail".
Indeed, but Whelen calls it attack.
Tempest 128 so Minneapolis MN uses the Fire Signal on thier Vortex System which is a slower Wail Signal
@Jonah Hall no, its a bit different, wail is just whoop but with a slow wind-down
@@garyhisgun4996 Minneapolis loops the "noon test" signal to create their attack signal.
It hurts my ears
Dude rock on
