  • In this video I test 15 different pellets through the Reximex Pretensis to see what works, and what doens't work. The barrel was cleaned and the test ws completed using the single shot tray. Magazines can cause issues, as can moderators. This was to give it the best chance. Out of the 15 pellet varieties, 10 fell within a 4mm to 22mm group, which is considered good enough for live quarry at 30 yards, which was the distance to the target. Future tests will include shooting through the magazines and using a moderator. The standard rifle is fitted with an air stripper.

Love to see you trying spitfires. Big Dan has superb results with them.

I've been testing my pretensis (walnut stock) and it loves jsb heavys and Airarms diabolo fields .plus i would try spitfires again as i tried them in my first tests early on. Gave them another go after barrel leaded in and they were v good. Especially if you want cheaper pellet for plinking.mostly i found gun likes slightly heaver pellets.

Great test that bud. I did think those snowpeak pellets were great!!. I would love to see the Arken
Zulus on the Pretensis to see how good it is at range.

I know there are thousands of brands of pellets. I think the Barracuda 8 is a good choice, through that barrel. They are definitely the preferred pellet in my HW110 as well. I don’t know what magic they used, but they seem to work with most guns. Having said that, my Daystate Wolverine R is indifferent to them, preferring QYS streamline 8.48gr, or the Daystate Sovereign 8.44gr. The Spindrift can vary between pellets, but I have never seen that sort of variation Shooting at 30 yards. I think something must’ve moved. The Reximex is obviously a really good rifle with the right pallet. Cheers 👍

I feel your frustration, been through it with my pretensis.. But there's light at the end of the tunnel. Taking the Air stripper / barrel weight off makes a bit of diffence..

Picked up my pretensis yesterday. Only pellet I've tried so far are jsb exact and they have been spot on, so I'm very surprised to see how poorly they performed here.

Every barrel is different, so what suits one doesn't always suit the same model. It doesn't always help when only shooting a few when swapping pellets. Sometimes, they come on tune after leading in over time. Having said that, the Reximex don't seem too pellet fussy.

Just wondering did you condition the barrel by shooting a magazine full of each type of pellet to condition the bore before firing each test group.... probably might have done away with the odd flyer out of the best groups 🤔

so i find when you change pellets it take a couple for the barrel to get used to them so i often get a few flyers then they sometimes settle in partially when you go from h&n to another pellet think it’s because they are a harder pellet

Mine likes the Baracuda 8 and the QYS the best but the AADF are good as well.

I believe range right use rws super field to chronograph the rifles as they are quite consistent weight wise apparently…

I have a pretensis, the pellets my gun likes are the Spitfires….!!
Just of for some barracuda 8 to see how they perform.

Yes, I have found the rifle to be quite accurate with most pellets now its run in, and doesn't seem pellet fussy. The Spitfires are a great choice if they work well, as they don't cost much. I have found that most of the H&N varieties work well. I am testing the Bisley Magnums at the moment, which do well in the wind, and give good power results. These are very similar to the H&N Baracuda Match.

I have the Lyra and like you their test report used the Superfields. I got a tin and mine shoot way better than yours did. Maybe because of the oxidization you mentioned
