How many guys in their 60's can blow the house down like they did in their 20's? THE J. GEILS BAND CAN!
March 13, 1980 Houston 2 encore's lights came on people started to leave ,and the came out again. Awesome Band $10 ticket
They did that in Syracuse in 1985. Out of the hundreds of concerts I've been to, many run together but that is a memory I never forgot. People came running back in.
Volume button all the way to the right please , this is a song that gets your door kicked in off the hinges by the popo , memories boys divin out the windows and back door.
Damn the 70s were awesomeness.
These guys were the real blues brothers. Never seen someone play a harmonica that well before.
the J GEILS BAND..... RIP J GEILS Rock'ed AND RULED........!
the BLUES Brothers were REAL too..................!
Magic Dick...on the lickin' stick!!! J. Geils band toured endlessly during the early 70's and I caught them in all kinds of venues. I just remember leaving exhausted and ecstatic every time.
RIP J Geils, another outstanding musician gone
@@therooster6104 I'm 63 years old and I Refuse to ever "grow up" Rock and Roll keeps me young.
God, please give us another J. Geils band.
The type of music👍
Lead Guitarist 👍
Magic Dick👍
The Horn Section👍
The backup singers👍
The keyboards👍
The Lead singer👍
All of this I’m praying for!!!
This is what the J Giles band did on a regular basis. Thank's to the WRIF I heard this played quite a bit.
Who could forget Magic Dick on the harmonica and Whammer Jammer!!! This band was made for on stage live performances, and I was fortunate (spoiled) enough to see them live before over 40,000 screaming drunken/pot smoking fans! Brought back memories of my very first concert ever!!!
Whoa, he plays that solo note by note as he does in the original! Much respect Magic Dick.
I still have the Magic Dick Harmonica Songbook (tutorial). God just didn't give me big lungs. The only other player I can think of on his level was John Mayall on "Room to Move".
I almost gave this a thumb's down when it ended. Cuz it ended. They could play all century long. Or two centuries.
2021 we need a rockn' house party
To the kids of today:
This is real music!!!
Wrong. Pretty soon you will be nostalgic for the last step you took.
There are plenty of great music acts out there. I might even say the musicians of today, the ones who really play, are technically better then alot of older bands. ( this recording sounds terrible) check out St Vincent, FKJ or snarky puppy, Arctic Monkey's, Radiohead, Ween, they might be giants, Dweezil Zappa, Dessa, or Galactic. All making music right now.
@@robertmassucci1 Of coarse the recording sounds terrible. It was 10 years ago on an old phone.. It was still great music.
"technically better then alot of older bands" DUH!!!
Love it or leave it.
If Whammer Jammer does not get you to movin' you are Dead.
The 60's and 70's had it all
I saw them back in the70s. bad ass whammer jammer....... has been part of my vocabulary every since
If there are any Mozs fans out there I suggest playing this and you'll feel better about life!
Ain't Nothin' but a Party!
That is rock & roll.
"All right Dickie, let me hear ya! Whammer Jammer!"
One of the greatest harmonica players of all time. Robert plant was pretty good but this guy is insane.
12/26/1980 Providence Civic Center R.I.! My 1st concert, J GEILES!
Saw JGeils band 3-4 times all in the seventies and once in 1999 reunion. Other bands hated when Peter Wolf and company was the warmup. When they left the stage the night was done😎
@@tombrittingham1023 jGeils opened up for Robin Trower one night here in Dayton Ohio. Love Robin , but, the night was over when the boys from Boston left the stage 😎
@@stevehamby9842 ha ha OMG I live in Dayton and I remember that show I couldn't go for some reason and really wanted to !! Yeah I bet Robin Trower was sweatin bullets trying to overcome the energy J Geils laid out lol. I remember Ted Nugent at Hara had an opener called " the fools ". They sucked and got boohed off the stage with beer bottles and the kitchen sink thrown at them lmfao. This was after Ted Nugent SWORE he would never have Van Halen as his opening act again !!
They opeaned for 2 bands in Chicago in 78 . Blew them out of the water. Great blues rock band. Was in high school and even then you knew these guys were a top notch band. Not frills or light show crap. They were a no nonsense rockin blues fun machine.
~ RIP ~ J. Geils, lead guitarist
Saw them at Meehan Auditorium at Brown University in ‘72 I think. Awesome.
love this band still rockin😊
They are Phenomenal!!! Classic!! ❤️

Lol...RIP J GEILS...hugely influential.." love Stinks"( bar chords!) One of very first songs i learned on guitar...me and million other guitar head kids way back when...badly underrated guitarists!!( I would have to toss in Alvin!( Lee!)- 10 YEARRRS AFTER)- also... The Rock and Roll band of my youth...Nothing like it
I saw them backstage at the Academy of Music....mid 1970s .... I'm that old..... Magic Dick was doing somersaults while performing this tune.... obviously he and I were much younger back then...... I couldn't believe my eyes.... incredible band incredible show....still sounds like they have it here .....for sure
Back in the 70's they were ALWAYS on the road. Got to enjoy them many times in Cincinnati & Dayton. Always awesome & played each song as if it was the first time. Wonderful memories & the albums stop sound awesome!🎃😺🤯
Saw them plenty of times myself in the 70s only it was in The Old Boston Gahden. I’m 65 years old now. I was the perfect age at the time. Around 18. Think Mescaline. 😂
Wish I could have been there!
Magic Dick is great and Peter and the show..what an atmosphere..
talk about bringin back memories! i could write a book on the parties i attended listening to their albums until my ears bled!
Yeah back then it was obligatory to spin J Geils at every party. It was the definition of normal
What a BLAST!!
Awesome...I was there, too!
July 7, 1973 - Greensboro Coliseum “Shoes Please” $5 ticket. J. Geils Band opened for Peter Frampton, recently on his own and the headliner Humble Pie. Geils destroyed the audience with their high energy in-your-face youcan’tsitdown give it till you got no more to give performance. Suffice it to say, they were the show that night. The audience had nothing, nada, zilch left .
My wife 1st date this show in Houston TX ! She can't forget it they knock her out!
So they are still doing shows, great !
What....A.....BAND. Now....THAAAAAT...is kicking out the jams.
This IS the definition of : " Leave it ALL...on the stage"...close the book now. Don't be foolish, nobody tops this showmanship and talent. Crikey Mate.
allways live in det
good ole tunes makes the happy feet move
Awesome Video, The sound quality was excellent for a live show, Thanks for posting it. :)
Mr. Peter fuckin' Wolf!!! Nothing else to say....
SOUNGS AWESOME!👍👍👍👍
Saw them everytime they played Detroit pretty in the 70s and 80s!
Seen Mr Magic Dick many times, the whole Jay Geils band members made it the Greatest ever FULL TILT BOOGIE BAND EVER !!!!! Peter Wolfe for a front man made them the definition of FULL TILT BOOGIE WOOGIE SLAMMING ROCK AND ROLLING WHAMMING JAMMING!!!!! AND JAY GEILS IT DON'T GET ANY BETTER !!! Jay Geils band is legal high to the maximum !!!! If a alien came from otter space and asked what is rock and roll I'd show them Jay Geils band videos !!!!!! We'd love happily ever after!!!!
most excellent (I remember first listening to this at a friend of a friend's house (1975) on his Quadraphonic system...then I heard Crimson for the first time there as well...ah, memories)
saw them at the Commack arena, a shitty hockey rink on long island. it's a hobby lobby now
Excelente!
Yea, she shaky, but they be jammin'! Thanks.
Magic Dick blew a really good version of Whammer Jammer !
🌌🌟💕💜💕🌟🌌
This ain't nothing but a house party
Cool fans
I had a friend who could really blow harp probably just as good ( He was actually my Dads best freind ) Great blues player named Ernie Parkin. He died about ten years ago now. Great musical influence on me. I'm still trying to play the harp, but guitar seems to be my fortae.
Spelled /forte/ Pronounced /Fort/.
it's only pronounced the way you used it when referring to music it's short for / fortissimo/ = to Play loudly. not your specialty. Just use specialty.
@@robertmassucci1 Have you ever heard of Fat fingering and then not editing your work?
Wicked Smot!(boston for smart )
Where was this, what venue in Buffalo?
When did they get back together
blow this rock out
rip j.geils
I don’t have a filthy mind
Is that Duke levine on guitar?

Move Over Bobby Dylan
Pathetic. J. Geils always rocked
Hold on..!..now!!!!...hehehe...:)O(:...
I just love the way them 'high' frequencies are coming in 'loud' and clear!!!...)O(;;;
I know there has to be a young girl or two out there who think that Peter Wolf is 'Da Bomb'???... _smile_ ...:)O(:...
Yeah!!!...them boyz are like fire when they are 'hot'!!!...)O(...
just cuz you can upscale 320p to 720 or 1080 doesnt make it real HD
m/d
Awful recording, but the masterful harp playing shines through.
I would not have paid a nickle for that omg
I am impressed how some harp player never heard about magic Dick;)
OK, pay attention kiddies, THIS is rock and roll. There has been nothing like this in the last 10 years.
There hasn't been no music like this late 70s brother...... I'm doing some ribs drinking my Jim beam and cranking this as loud as it can go
