Good explanation of the most important features of Renoise. Was easy to follow too. Thanks a lot!
Excellent video! Although I get around fine in Renoise, I'ma kind of stuck in my protracker/fastracker legacy keyboard shortcuts workflow, so it is great to see other options mentioned as reminders how things can also be done.
ps; about the content mask selection of properties, you can also right mouse click to 'solo' an individual property, right mouse click again, to have all properties checked again.
Oh nice! That's good to know for sure. Thanks. You are indeed a plug expert :D
you didn't explain how to change the volume on a volume command, im stuck on it
Well, you need to be in edit mode (esc), then just position the cursor and type in the value you want in the volume column
i like this beginners series. i'm using renoise occasionally for about a year now, so this is an excellent refresher.
what i haven't found so far is a detailed in depth video about renoises signalflow as it it quite different to other daws. what exactly happens, if you trigger one instrument from different tracks, or what, if one track plays different instruments? how is the sound exactly being routed? why would you want to use the different approaches?
in which way are vst instruments behaving differently to internal instruments? what about track fx chaines versus sampler internal fx? i guess i have quite a good understanding of this in the meanwhile, but it took me some time to figure it out. especially for beginners it would be important to have a solid understanding of the singnal flow, otherwise things can get confusing rather quickly. so if you are thinking of what to make a video about, this might be something to go for.
another topic would be phrases. what are they really good for? in which way would you use them, compared to the pattern editor?
A lot of good questions :)
I'll definitely be covering phrases before long
