I'm really enjoying this series on the Bangka boat build!! The methodology or approach you take in the work you do transfers seamlessly from one project to the next. There is definitely a pattern where you apply all of your acquired 'mechanical' skills, logical/critical thinking, forward thinking etc. Does your mind ever rest? The results of your work reflect the level of effort and planning. Pretty darn impressive man!

Awesome job! It is really looking good. You sound like you are really enjoying this project. Be careful with all that wood dust, nasty stuff for the lungs.

We use to take chains and use them for anchors in the rivers, they would hold good and not roll around an have to worry
banging around. Guys keep having fun

The bulkheads should also show you any leaks in the fabrication process.

Might consider installing DePersia type ' self bailer or two , near where the keel joins the side
    walls.
If the craft is moving, water in the cockpit, is sucked out automatically! ,
Is supposed to self seal, if not moving!
    Just a thought James?!
    Btw.
Backing in my sailing days racing dinghies, I often capsized, hazard of going to the edge!
Naturally ( afterwards) the cockpit, was half full of water, but we had drainers in the floor and/ or flaps in the transome, once moving again, soon got rid of the water
Have even seen catamarans go head over heels, when going very fast and hitting a wave the wrong way, quite stimulating!! Especially in freezing cold water!!Lol

The boat will look good and be better than before I thank your building a Filipino racing boat ?

Nah not a racing boat just adding some modern touches. Filipinos do these type of things also. I love these boats.

Just curious how much heavier your Texas Banca weighs in compared to a native plywood resin. Yours will be sturdier for sure with the mahogany outriggers.😅

Should not be much. Maybe 40 lbs more just guessing. The bamboo they use is the solid type on the cross pieces and its heavy. The bamboo they use for floats or outriggers is hollow and usally section get cracks and flooded with water. That has the possibility to make them very heavy. They smear that 2 part marine epoxy resin vs me putting fiberglass resin so mot much difference there just the weight of the cloth and a little additional resin. The bulk heads don't weigh much and less overall water in the boat. These are called pump boats because they are always pumping water out. They refer to a local made hand pump with a plunger made before from bamboo and now from pvc or they bail it out with an pail. This is because they usually have constant leaks plus the water from the nets they pull in. I feel it should be worth the difference and my overall enjoyment.

James, have you thought about maybe adding Styrofoam in the sealed chambers? Maybe between the 2 sheets on the sides? Just a thought....
Are you going to add access hatches to the boat and outrigger chambers?
Love watching this Bangka boat come together 👍

I wont put foam. It not good to have against plywood even resin coated. Holds moisture and had potential to cause premature failures.

Good Morning Sir James aint it good to be Captain sir lol 😆. You should have just cut the wood yourself then you know it would be like you want it to be .like you said you can probably dress it out with the grinder but having to add to is another story huh !! This way you could have held the bitching down to a minimum lol. Cant wait to see the finished project are you going to name it ?? You need to really think about a name for the banka & Sea Ray both 🤔. God bless 😊 .
