I can honestly say this without hesitation. Everyone that I have seen so far looks good even if better when they were younger. Dancing really is what keeps us all young & healthy. I am so glad to have grown up in the era when watching Soul Train on Saturdays was a weekly standard. Man, I wouldn’t trade my childhood for anything . He was one of my favorites by the way.

At least he was honest, "...we looked at them as peasants..." 😊 I had a cousin who made it on but she left after about 2 shows. She told us she couldn't tolerate the pettiness and jealousy. Now, my cousin was beautiful inside and out so hearing him admit the attitude of the dancers (maybe not all) just verified her truthfulness. We believed her anyways though.
It's so much fun watching these videos of the dancers. He was one of my faves. My sister and I use to call him "Tyrone" because he looked like our soon-to-be then uncle. Thank you for sharing these videos with us. ❤️

Me and my buddies were in the AF and used to call him/his dance 'Shimmy Man/The Shimmy Man dance'. We would get a few drinks in us and do some clowning around doing this thing called. "its a bird, its a plane, it's SHIMMY MAN!" instead of superman and start doing our version of his dance. Lol It was hilarious because each of us would add our own spin on it. I actually met him back in the day at a Mall in LA when I was a teenager (We're around the same age) He was pretty cool dude.

Hi Myron 😌. I am from The Soul Train era and I miss it sooooo much 😒. I was never a savvy (I went into singing since high school and beyond afterwards in public) dancer but I ❤'d watching The Soul Train. I still have many albums oh, yes actual albums, from that era and have no plans on getting rid of him. I just cannot get with what is called music of today. It just sounds like a bunch of unidentified noises to me. I will always be an ol' school music lover till God calls me home and perhaps afterwards ☺. Thank you Myron for the wonderful reminder of when music was music. God bless you and your family.

This show was a big deal. No one could sit down during Soul Train. We were all up dancing together and dancing with the dancers on TV. Myron stood out in a sea of greats. He taught me personally how cool in public moved, dressed, and conducted himself. These ladies and gentlemen on ST were so iconic and such great role models for all the kids watching. It was always about being part of the larger group, live and let live, having fun but respecting everyone else, learning each others' moves but putting your own special spin on them, being the best version of yourself. Dancing was and is fun, healthy, a great way to stay in shape and express whatever you are feeling, good, bad, or ugly, in a creative and socially positive way. Thank you Myron and all the dancers of ST for all the great times and free life lessons.

Kids today actually do a lot more than twerking in this era . Their vibe and groove is different from the era of the 70's ,80's ,'90's or the early 00's ,but there's quite a few of them that understand it and built their own swag to it . It would be interesting to see what a Soul Train show would look like in this era . The music in this era to me is hit or miss and the dances could reflect that .As long as the music is hot ,the dances will b,e too.

Mryon may have invented the shake... but he could not have invented the Harlem shake if he was from LA y'all. According to Google: The Harlem shake, originally called the albee or Al B, is a dance introduced in 1981 by a Harlem resident named Albert Boyce aka "Al B".
The dance is a "drunken shake" and Al B performed the dance with hi arm-flailing during the half-time break in basketball matches at Harlem's Rucker Park, circa 1981. The 'Al B' then grew a following around Harlem, before spreading to neighboring districts and later became known as "The Harlem Shake." It became main stream after G Dep featured the dance in his music video "Let's Get It' in 2001, then in G Dep's video "Special Delivery". It also appeared in Nelly's video for the song "Dilemma".

Loooove you!! I’m from Augusta, Ga. James Brown… the legend. I’m 70 yrs. old and finally met him at Bush Field Airport a few years before he passed away. The most wonderful moment of my life. The highlight of my light. Entertainers work their butts off to keep our lives full of joy. THANK YOU FOR the joy you have imbedded in our lives….through and through. I love you!! Peace, love, and light.

OMG Myron I have been drastically searching for you . I’ve inquired about you on almost every Soul Train video. After I saw you do the “Harlem Shake”I was hooked, having no idea you were the creator of that dance therefore dubbing you “Mr. Shake”. My husband saw you in garment district downtown L.A. He came and said guess who I saw, Mr. Shake. He said he told you I called you that. When I first saw you do the Harlem Shake I was looking for you every show. Then you were the highlight and I watched the show anxiously to see you. A few years back I viewed one episode and you danced to “Let it Whip” I couldn’t stop watching you and now when I’m feeling a lil down I’ll play it. When I hear let it whip on the radio I think of you and. Smile. You were fantastic on Soul train. I’m so glad I ran across this interview. Tony Briggs interview popped up and he mentioned your name “Myron”. I was like that’s him I’ll search his First name and Soul Train and voilà! Thank you so much for this interview I had no idea you were so young when you started so true and by the way you look amazing also thank you for making that experience one that will never be forgotten!

Great piece, it's good to see a series like this because we would not know these magnificent dancers' names or story. Myron is amazing but IDK about that the Harlem Shake bit. Looks like two different dances to me. His creativity was so good during that time so much love to you. Icons

It's about time!!!! I was wondering when you guys would get to my favorite dancer of all time.. I soooo remember M. Montgomery because of his many signature dances and because he split his time between Soul Train and American Band Stand. ABS held a dance contest every year and M. Montgomery was in it almost every time. Who knew Don made him quit ABS.. Clearly Don Cornelius was a real piece of work back then. Some things I would have rather not known. Me and my sister would always try to dance like him. He was truly my favorite. MEMORIES.

Myron and nem, ICONS all day! Chile we use to try that dance, but most of us, could only get one side right, lol. Our rhythm was off. We were like how does he do that, and alternate, his arms, and still move his hips? Myron, was definitely, one of many favorite dancers. Great memories.

Nothing compares to old school Soul Train- I remember Myron and his dance style. I miss the good times of that era. The Soul Train line was Everything😘 and I lived for everything the show had to offer from the performers, fashion, dancers, show intro and of course Don Cornelius ♥ I'm happy to see the dancers capitalized off their notoriety because we loved them! 😘
