I just want to say, as someone who loves to paint their nails and read books, we would NOT do the same things at the same time! That would make both the nails and the book messed up. There's no point making my nails pretty and still try to tead a book (which is like a chainsaw to painted nails). So one of those things are a false lead.
Or it really was the chloroform!
Yeah, I don't do anything else when I'm reading other than eat and drink. To fully enjoy a book it needs at least 90% of your attention

As someone else who loves to read and paint their nails, i do both all the time ;)

For the chloroform theory: It's not instant. It takes about 5 minutes to knock someone out and you have to keep the rag on them the entire time. Not entirely feasible and there'd be signs of a struggle.
This is why I think it was staged. Cynthia might have gotten fed up with people’s expectations of her. We don’t have her point of view, her story, to tell us what was really going on inside her head. I want to think she left Ohio with a really nice person who introduced her to new things and they are still together, perhaps running a successful small business far away from Ohio.

Apple Pie
PIE DOUGH
2 ½ cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 ½ sticks butter, 1 1/2 sticks, cold, cubed
8 tablespoons ice water, or as needed
FILLING
2 ½ lb granny smith apple, cored, sliced, peeled
¾ cup sugar
2 tablespoons flour
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
½ lemon
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon sugar
TOPPING
1 scoop vanilla ice cream
1. In a medium-sized bowl, add the flour and salt. Mix with fork until combined.
2. Add in cubed butter and break up into flour with a fork. Mixture will still have lumps about the size of small peas.
3. Gradually add the ice water and continue to mix until the dough starts to come together. You may not need all of the water, but if the dough is too dry then add more. The dough should not be very tacky or sticky.
4. Work the dough together with your hands and turn out onto a surface. Work into a ball and cover with cling wrap. Refrigerate.
5. Peel the apples, then core and slice.
6. In a bowl, add the sliced apples, sugar, flour, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and juice from the lemon.
7. Mix until combined and all apples are coated. Refrigerate.
8. Preheat the oven to 375°F (200°C).
9. On a floured surface, cut the pie dough in half and roll out both halves until round and about ⅛-inch (3 mm) thick.
10. Roll the dough around the rolling pin and unroll onto a pie dish making sure the dough reaches all edges. Trim extra if necessary.
11. Pour in apple filling mixture and pat down.
12. Roll the other half of the dough on top.
13. Trim the extra dough from the edges and pinch the edges to create a crimp. Make sure edges are sealed together.
14. Brush the pie with the beaten egg and sprinkle with the sugar.
15. Cut four slits in the top of the pie to create a vent.
16. Bake pie for 50-60 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and no greyish or undercooked pastry remains.
17. Allow to cool completely before slicing.
18. Top with ice cream and serve.
19. Enjoy.
Why did I need to know this? Also thanks this was cool
Epic, thank you.
Baller, thanks 🙏
Made this. Very good
Hi grandma
Contrary to what you see in films and on TV, chloroform actually takes around 5 minutes of inhalation to knock someone out. Even then, it doesn’t really keep someone unconscious for all that long and it would need to be constantly inhaled to keep them sedated. Irl, it tends to be used in tandem with another drug to actually achieve results.
Yeah, if chloroform was used there would definitely be signs of struggle and the fact there wasn't any makes me believe that it really was just nail polish
Also chloroform smells very different from nail polish solvent (ethyl acetate)
@@blake4248 There's also the fact it can end up killing the person if you use too much.
However, it's been a while since I looked into chloroform (for a novel, I swear). Would there perhaps be time to tie her up while she's out so that she's subdued when she wakes up?
(For the record though, I don't think she was actually kidnapped. I think the story scared an already paranoid girl and she fled, leaving the book on the table.)

Just watched this episode....did no one - even the police - take a look into her church groups? I could see her kindness being taken as infatuation for someone who may have mental illness and is unmedicated. Anyone with keys to the office including custodial staff are suspects imo
I have to agree. If her church didn’t believe in treating mental illness she might have ended up a victim. I hope that’s not what happened because I personally believe she might have (secretly) been diagnosed with a mental condition and a group of secret friends and her came up with a plan to get her far away from her family and get the treatment she deserves. And yes I hope she’s alive.

Hello and welcome back to another episode of Shane's hair. This week we continue our ongoing investigation into the question what is he doing and why is it working out so well
I think she liked her life before but when having this job it kinda opened her eyes on how other people are living, since before the job everything was related to church even her boyfriend and friends. I think she met someone while working maybe a client fell in love and started to search a way to escape her boring life. She started reading a book and she found that one of the characters was kidnapped. And days prior to that the I love you cindy tag appeared. I imagine her coworkers asking her if that sign was for her and ofc she declined and maybe they started joking about her having a stalker. So with this tag and the book that she started reading gave the idea to fake a kidnapping with her new love interest. So she told him to call her at work so she can fake being sacred of a stalker. And the day she decided to run away she was stressed and anxious about if her plan would work that's why she skipped breakfast she lost her appetite. And leaving the book opened at that page was maybe a hint from her and since she's teen she thought that was a dramatic way of running away. And also she was probably the one who called.
That’s a good idea. I want to think she realized there was a whole world waiting for her to explore outside the confines of the church. I really want to believe Cynthia is still alive, under a different name of course, and is living her best life possible.

Hey, I used to be a paranormal investigator, and other than the ovulus (which isn't available anymore - would transfer energy into a pre filled dictionary of words so it would actually say words), is an app I found that does a job better than doing the radio thing. The app is called echovox 3, it used to be $30 (not sure what it is now). It uses an echo program - you connect an external speaker, and turn it on and it creates an echo relay like loop that works like the radio except there aren't any radio channels. You can clearly hear if things are being said, and it supposedly allows you to hear them as well as have them hear you properly. It wasn't originally made for that, but people found it could be used in that way.
I've only used it a few times but it's very effective from my experience in the paranormal world. I'm a skeptic with most situations, but I used to be called into severe cases because I can see and hear. They would call me in after having a meeting, not tell me anything, then the next day I would go over my findings with the family and team and they would compare notes with the evidence they had. I was able to confirm things about the homes and situations that they had, down to clothing and height/ descriptions of people as well as sentences that they had recordings of that I wasn't aware of. With that being said, I don't really believe when people tell me they've seen ghosts until I can confirm it for myself. I'm a big fan of debunking, but with what happens to me I've been able to contact people when there's a message that has to be passed.
I ignore it most of the time, but seeing you guys do the investigations, the echovox would be an amazing tool and you would get better results.

I love this series and normally don't comment, but did anyone notice how quick Ryan was to shut down the idea that the father might have killed Cynthia? It seemed plausible even if not the strongest point. Most of the time they will consider anything (ie. aliens). I wonder if they got some of the information on this video straight from the source (Cynthia's father) and didn't want to openly suspect him.
Cynthia's father died in 2008
well oof.
Cynthia's father died in 2008, so they wouldn't have been able to get any information from him
He probably finds distasteful. If people are going to accuse someone of murder they should have something more substantial than a hunch.
I come from the same church background as Cynthia. It is actually pretty plausible that the father was involved. He raised her to be obedient as he said, and then she was experimenting with makeup and going to college where he would have less control. It may not be what happened but it is plausible. I don't think its distasteful to posit it as a theory. I think its equally plausible that she got mixed up with a bad dude while trying to get away from her strict fam, and perhaps she planned the escape but something went wrong with the guy. Think Gypsy Rose Blanchard.
I really love these guys, but man. Ryan did not seem into this. Maybe it was just me but this whole episode had a super weird energy to me. Comments, don’t crucify me, I’m still a huge fan 😂
