The Japan men's national volleyball team represents Japan in international volleyball competitions and friendly matches. Japan won a bronze medal at the Tokyo 1964 Olympic Games, followed by silver at Mexico 1968 and a gold at Munich 1972. The years after this have been less successful. Japan missed three successive Olympic Games before returning at Beijing 2008, where they failed to win a match. Japan then failed to qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Games and also missed Rio 2016 after finishing seventh at the World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Tokyo. They also failed to qualify for the 2014 FIVB World Championship the first edition they had missed in 54 years. They had previously won FIVB World Championship bronze medals in 1970 and 1974. Japan silver medalists at the 1969 and 1977 World Cup. Japan has been less successful in the World League era. The team has won the Asian Championships nine times and the Asian Games eight times.

Super cute how hype he got. These two have a legit bond, you see it in the way Nishida high fives and chest bumps Sekita after every great set. This made me look forward to the Tokyo Olympics even more! The current Japan team is so strong and they play really smart. Also, i hope setters (Sekita and Fujii) and liberos (Koga and Yamamoto) will be recognized by volley fans as well, especially those who are beginning to like this team. Their setters are so clever, they utilize everyone, not just Nishida or Ishikawa. As for their liberos, especially Yamamoto who has shown an amazing performance last season, please keep an eye on them as well. :)

0:52 easily my favourite moment of the JP team.
Yamamoto nailed that pancake, Yamauchi use the blockers to bring the ball back, Sekita set the ball below the net, Ishikawa's fake spike, and before Nishida made contact with the ball, no, before he jumped, Sekita was already celebrating coz he knew damn well his teammate was gonna land that spike.

7:41 i mean not to be one of those annoying haikyuu people, but... daichi moment
    Edit: look at ishikawa

I mean atleast your not one of those people who compare moves from the anime to real Life even tho its not near it like if the setter jumps then sets haikyuu fans tend to say OMG ITS KAGEYAMA

The best part is when Ishikawa pretend to spike the ball but actually he is planning to toss it to Nishida😌

I get that a lot of you like to watch these clips because of Haikyuu, but please know that there is a line between fiction and reality, and please be mindful that there are people who actually enjoy watching these videos because they actually care about the sport and the players, rather than comparing them to different Haikyuu characters, and sometimes you guys really go overboard with the comment section.
(And rip the last chapter of the manga had me in tears but I really shouldn’t comment on it cause like I said I want to be respectful)

Thnk u for this comment! I legit have seen comments saying things like "in haikyuu it looked cooler, this looks stupid" on a video highlighting pipe plays

@@Buckheimer It's gone to the point where it's not a joke anymore. It's gotten stale and boring. As a Haikyuu fan, I liked seeing these references at first, but now it's obnoxious and to the point where they don't even comment about the video anymore. Every time a libero does a save, there are going to be 1000 rolling thunders regardless of the fact if they even rolled. Every time a hitter does a hit, they go and compare them to Ushiwaka regardless of the fact if they even are an opposite. Every time a setter does a set, they compare them to Kageyama regardless of their personality. It's stale. It's boring. People that want to see actual analysis get overwhelmed by the sheer number of "OMG NISHIDA IS SO COOOL! HE SHOWS THAT YOU DON"T NEED TO BE TALL TO BEAT TALL PLAYERS! JUST LIKE HAIKYUUUU HES LIKE HINATA"

I just noticed that and heck it got me hyped up even more. He knew the other side was helpless when Ishikawa's blockers already jumped but Nishida's readying his cannon from the right.
