Thank you so much for this video. Was quoted $4,500 to replace my hybrid battery. With your video, I pulled it apart and only one cell was bad. $35 on Ebay and a lot of work later we are running great. You saved me four grand!
How did you figured out that one cell is bad, does obd2 PID TELLS which celll is bad
@@sivucit i followed the steps in this video until i got to removing the cells, then used a multimeter to check the voltage of each one. The one bad cell was around 6V

I think it cost around $1,800 as a whole unit after returning the old battery.
man I got all my brain scrambled up with that multitude fasteners, screws, bolts and connectors … but surely, you the man, way to go nice presentation.

Thanks! These Camry batteries have a lot more to remove than Prius batteries. Once you replace the battery it should last another 10+ years.

Great video. It is disappointing Toyota didn't make this much easier to do considering the battery would be known to die 3-4 times before their engines do.

About 1400 for all the cells. Or about 40 dollars if you want to only change a bad cell.

What is the best gas to use for a car like this just bought a 2007 Toyota Camry hybrid everything brand new including engine and both batteries
I just had the whole unit replaced by an independent installer, but now the hybrid system is shooting error codes and the car won't drive. Toyota says it's the DC/DC converter inside the unit you just tore down. Is that part visible in your video somewhere?

You see the shape of this cells in the corner, you should have checked the foam insulation tape on the top cover if the insulator foam tape touches and seals the corners. If there is openings the air will not flow outside pack and this will overheat the cells

Hi sir, the wire temperature sensor cat off from the first module from beneath when I try to replace the module. Is this problem ? I reinstalled the battery back I see check engine light . What should I do please.
What codes do you have on a scan tool? The temperature sensor is important because it lets the computer know when to turn the fan on or if the battery is overheating. But I don't think it would make the engine light turn on just because it's not connected to a module. The first step is to see what codes are stored for the engine light.

Yes, the battery temperature will let the computer know when to turn on the cooling fans. It also monitors if there is a battery overheating issue

Hey i am in the middle of replacing one bad cell in the battery, i heard i may have to balance it, is that true?
Yes, balancing the battery is important. Here is a link to a website that sells battery balancing chargers. hybridautomotive.com
There are also other methods for balancing. Each with their own pros and cons.
@@ValleyMobileAutomotiveI just finished reinstalling the battery all the cells were within 0.1- 0.2 volts from one another, after installing the engine won't start all the lights are on the dash but the battery is showing full charge on the cluster display, do I have to reset the modules?
@@desipranksterz7909 No resetting is required. Double check all your connectors. There might be something that forgot to get plugged back in.

How you reset ones you replace it?
The battery disconnected during the repair should reset everything.
Why did you not wear nitrile gloves while working with dangerous voltage?
Good question. Nitrile gloves will not protect you from high voltage. You need special high voltage gloves. Check for bleed through voltage to the outside of the battery case and voltage on the lines coming from the battery. If no voltage is present then it's safe to touch. I used high voltage gloves when removing the battery in case something was loose inside that could change the state of the case voltage. Once it was set on the table I double checked voltage and we were safe to proceed. If you are unsure if something is safe to touch check the voltage before proceeding.
This is very interesting to watch, but there's no way I'd give it a go. It's far too dangerous for unqualified people to do (and it's probably illegal for most of us to do).

It's for one of your battery temperature sensors. These Camry's have a number of temperature sensors under the battery cells to monitor the battery's temperature.
