Grace, technique, quality of movement, sheer athleticism (he can get to anywhere on the court exactly when he wants to), agility (he can make any body angle advantageous to his offense) *Edit* : Today I was physically threatened on the court by an aggressive player in a pickup game. Kobe's career requires knowledge of proper context. Being a 21 year old shooting guard for one of THE franchises in all of sports, having to face the best perimeter defenders on any given team in the lowest scoring era ever was A LOT to have to manage. By the following year, at just 22, he was truly on par with Shaq for production come playoff time.
Shaq was the MVP, had one of the greatest single seasons including the playoffs in NBA history individually, no Kobe wasn’t on par with him that year as great as he was in his own right- that narrative doesn’t add
@@PrinceSlade22 That was just one season. In 8 total seasons that they played together, Kobe had more All League selections than Shaq, on offense AND defense. They played 18 playoff series together. Kobe lead the team in scoring in 9 of them. So yeah...
Kobe Bryant is the reason why I started to pick up a basketball and started to watch the game of basketball which I truly love till to this day Rest In Peace to the black mamba ❤🐍
At just age 21, Kobe proved he has what it takes to be a champion and step up in crunch time when his team needed it - regular season and playoffs! And he only continued getting better every year.
Thanks Max for your Kobe Videos! 💜💛💪🏼 Also noteworthy he hit his first game winner in this season during the playoffs against the suns and had some memorable performances like the one in Game 7 WCF against the Blazers with that iconic alley oop to Shaq as well as his Game 4 performance in the NBA Finals 2000 where he took over. And his athleticism was truly remarkable during that era. So fun to watch him & Shaq during those times. Rest in Peace Kobe 🙏🏼
Just imagine being drafted at 18 years old in the mid-90's, being expected to win from day 1 on a veteran stacked team. Imagine being handcuffed by your coach, and coming off the bench for your first 2 seasons despite being better than any of the veteran Guards on the team. By your 4th season, you're a 21-year-old proven veteran superstar. The team acquires Phil Jackson as your new coach. The team starts winning, and you go on to dominate as a player alongside Shaq with numerous great performances, some of them being historically significant. You prove yourself over and over again in the playoffs, and the Finals as the best Guard in the league, and maybe the best player in the NBA. Your team ultimately wins 3 championships in a row. You have a couple of seasons of turmoil where the team is still winning, but loses in the playoffs and the Finals. Shaq leaves, and starts talking crap, and everyone starts trying to invalidate your career because they love Shaq's goofy TV personality. Now that Shaq has left, all of the sudden people start saying that you could never win without him, and that you were just a role player, or a sidekick on those championship winning teams. What does it make you if you prove those people wrong twice in a row? Kobe was already a certified first-ballot HOFer and an all-time great after that 3-peat, but by winning twice without Shaq when people were trying to invalidate Kobe's previous accomplishments, those last two titles made Kobe one of the top 5 player of all-time, if not top 3. None of those Lakers championships would have happened without Kobe Bryant on those teams.
22:32 is something a lot of people don’t mention!!!Kobe basically had to be MJ AND Scottie throughout his time in the triangle offense. Not an easy task but 5 rings was the result
To me this is the season I consider the beginning of his prime also his real rookie season as a starter if u remove Kobe first 3 years (he wasn’t starting didn’t get minutes) and last 3 years (due to all the injuries) and count the 14 between 99-13 I wonder what his career numbers would look like those 6 years killed his career numbers.. this man went to 7 finals in 10 years 99/00 ~ 09/10 winning 5 the 3 years he didn’t go he was leading scorer and flat out best player in world 03,06,07 ppl don’t really realize how great of a prime The Great Kobe Bryant.. The 14 years he played full time 99-13 he was a top 5 player every year during that stretch also can’t forget the 2 Gold Medal he helped lead Team USA too.. How quickly they forget..

I overall collected highlights from this era before UA-cam existed. I’d contact people on message boards and make trades to get their tapes. I don’t have tons of full games. Just compilations of what they recorded. My main focus was on Vince Carter, so that collection is massive. I’m glad I did too, because most of vcs prime and best years aren’t represented on UA-cam.
Kobe was the most polished 21-year-old this game has ever seen. His sheer skill set was insane. A young Lebron would have never hit those shots against the Pacers.
We Honestly haven't seen a Young Player like him since. It's been about 27 years now. yet kids think todays NBA is more athletic. Although they have stopped thinking that in recent Years cause I bring up Facts like this.
If Kobe had kept this type of Play Style and Athleticism until his 30's he would've been the Second best Player ever. As it is though Hakeem then DRob are 2nd and 3rd all time. But think the top 2 could've been both Shooting Guards.
Hey Folks. I have a question. How many Kobe fans noticed that Kobe’s jump shot was a lot different when he first came into the league? Later on in his career, his shot changed at least two more times. Obviously, he perfected it which assisted in his success 😊
Kobe's style of play from '99-'02 is the most appealing and captivating to me.
