Very informative video Mr Stephen Ramsden. I am very excited to have my first look at CaK and Sodium views of the Sun through the telescopes you sent us here in Pakistan!
2:25 question about the focus tube. I bought my Solar Max 60 back in 2012 and it has cheap plastic that cannot handle the weight of a camera. Do you have any suggestion what kind of camera I can use?
Hi, it's a 60 mm alpha H scope, but I think a little more light going through the 70 mm light opening, makes the views a little brighter. But, maybe I am wrong. Thanks. Be the way, I think it's a nice looking scope with fresh views and now with full sweet spot . If I had the bills now I know were i should spend it on.
Nothing in this scope is 60mm in diameter. The telescope, like all solar/nighttime telescopes, is named based on it’s objective diameter. The h-alpha etalons are 63mm and the objective is 70mm.
I just got my double stack solarmax iii this week!! I am ichin to use it. What camera are you using? Is it in color? I want to do some photography too. I am also getting the 12mm ocular instead of the Barrow.
Another great video. Thanks Stephen. Scott
Brilliant review looks a lovely bit of kit & so versatile too
Excellent review. So much info!

Hello. I own a solarmax III 60mm single stack. Where can I buy the second ethalon for DS?
Instead of a Herschel wedge could one just use a solar film filter in the front? Would the wedge give a better picture?
Yes it will, but a film is nothing compared to Ha, and esp double stack, a film or glass front solar white light filter is nothing compared to these.
no image in the h alpha mode to show...
Great review and I have the same Scope - it is fabulous.
why is the grasshopper capture so blurry? 12MP should be super crisp in 1080p
what mount/pier is that? is it just perm mounted in your front yard? lol
This is an AP 1200 mount on their pier with a JMI wheelie cart to move it in and out of my garage

A monochrome planetary cam is the way to go with colorizing in post. The scope is monochrome. try solarchatforum.com for the best advice
Hi, FJB . How you find this( single stack) scope for visual use? And what is the maximum useful magnification ?
You need more tattoos. I see some vacant space on your forehead, try that next. Thanking you in advance.
thank you for your kind comment. Might I suggest a tattoo of my size 16 boot on your a$$?
