Im not sure anyone will recognise the reference but does Aemond of Valyria feel like a direct rip-off of Elric of Melnibone from Michael Morcocks Elric Series. Both are dragon lords and from an Ancient people who ruled cruelly with the help of the Dark arts. Right down to the white-blond hair.
