I am 72 in Mississippi, USA, and Otyken is my favorite modern group. I am a big supporter of indigenous Native American musicians and then I started looking at indigenous groups worldwide. You are right, we must open our eyes and really see! Someone said, "Music is an umbilical chord to nature."

Categorized as a single race they represent 1.2% of the population, adding those categorized as mixed with other races the number goes to about 3% of the U.S. population per 2020 census data. Not huge but not nonexistent either. I have lived in Southern California for decades and I have friends and people I've worked with who are Native American. It's not uncommon even in urban areas like here.

If you turn on close captions they put wrote the lyrics in there themselves so it's accurate.
I'm intrigued by the end of this video with the crowd of men that step off the truck. There's the moment of apprehension where Sandro throws up his arms and we're reminded of the history of indigenous people being chased off their lands. Then the newcomers get into it and start dancing along with the forest spirit while the band-members cheer them on and blow kisses. It's a symbol of those who have come across this band via the internet and shown the band love and support. The end of the video is a "thank you and we love you" to their fans around the world.
This ^ when the group of "westernized" people appeared, I had the most horrible sinking feeling in my stomach.
But instead of repeating history, it shows how people are starting to embrace and respect indigenous cultures.

I love that they have a dance party at the end.
This is my favorite so far I think. The energy is great but the two women’s voices are mesmerizing. I like the throat singing here too but I’ve liked that on all of them. It’s a very different sound and yet is anchored by things we all are familiar with - elements of folk, rock, techno-pop. I just discovered them a couple of days ago, so I’ve played a few of these songs a lot. I’ll be listening to more. ❤

@@Yadryon_BobyorЯдрëн бобëр, Отыкен никакой. Коллектив молодой, одни салаги, да ещë и христиане. Я хотел бы, чтобы они пели фолк метал и были буддистами. Отыкенцам надо поучиться и присмотреться к таким группам, как Коронатус, Данхейм, Вардруна и другим. Сделать песни длиннее на 8 минут, чтобы длина была 13 минут, женский вокал красивее, больше фолка, меньше попсы (дыщ-дыщ).
@@halmgar вероисповедание в таких вещах роли играть не может в принципе, а вот касаемо художественной прошаренности(оригинальности и наполнения) - это да, больше фолка - это Хуун-хуур-ту, Алаш и т.д., больше оригинальности - это Ят-ха и The Hu.

Turkey's not your 'ancestral land' - it's actually one of the *last* places that Turks settled, and they conquered it over layers of Greeks, Phrygians, Trojans, Galatians, Carians, Hittites, Lycians, Armenians and many others. Altaic peoples are from Central Asia, not too far away from where Otyken is located. The Turkic Ur-Heimat is the southern Altai-Sayan region and/or the area from Lake Baikal to eastern Mongolia. That's why all the Turkic 'stans' are out there, and why pan-Turanism is a thing. Turks were shamanic and Tengrist long before they were Muslim and Ottoman, and that's the aesthetic that Otyken represents. Many of the Tuvan and Mongolian khoomei (throat-singing) groups represents a similar aesthetic - I've presented concerts for a few of those groups.

Рэйв - да, да помним, в 90-х от него многие балдели... Продиджи (пролежни;), Скутер - по чем рыбка. Рэперы против рэйверов, стенка на стенку... А ведь такой фолк шаманский хорошо ложится на рэйв, помните у Продиджей были "люди вуду"?
