This video saved me probably much money I didn’t need to spend. Took 3 minutes, didn’t even have to remove anything. I got skinny hands and just replaced the cap through where I could
Worked like charm! Just in time too. My GF's dad gives me shit for getting a Chevy all the time (he's a Ford guy). Didn't wanna give him any ammo over the holidays. Lol
That got it done. Thanks man! Took me hours so thanks for suggesting to turn off battery. I’m back working properly. What took me so long was putting everting back on correctly…Had to diss assemble again after reassembling because I put it on wrong so it wasn’t flush with hood & it was making noise. Eventually I got it.
One caveat to this procedure. When you remove that plate with the four screws (2:51) make sure to mark the screws positions at each corner of you will spend hours trying to get the headlight cover to sit correctly in the hood opening.
Believe it- this video works! I might make a suggestion though- instead of removing the top, consider removing the two pivot bolts. Then you can just drop the headlight assembly completely out of the way and it gives you lots of room to access the motor and the bump stops.
Just a heads up to everyone. You can just take off the plastic panels on the sides and reach the bumper. I was gonna just this video as reference but decided to try and see if I could see it before I took everything off and what do ya know! There it is! Replaced the other one right after in about 2 min flat
That did it! I have the same 2000 Nassau Blue convertible and you just solved my problem! Funny, I broke off the top rear cover tab as yours is, putting it back together. While I was disappointed in myself, I figured now mine '00 is even more like yours! I have some JBWeld fixing the problem as I type! Cheers and thanks!
Thanks for educating a lot of C5 owners about the bump stops but you missed a couple of things. You can freeze the headlights in the up position without the headlight shining by turning the headlight switch to on, then move the switch to the park light position and they'll stay up. Also, the bumpers are much more accessible by removing the two pins that the assembly swivels on and then move the entire assembly forward and out of your way. Much easier. Thanks for posting.
Actually this is my Huge problem! just bought a new motor it work's but it came back! I saw my bump stopper it's already worn! and now I know. thank you
Was able to stick my hand underneath and could feel the top bumper was missing, took the extra off the back of the headlight and stuck my hand back under put on the plastic bumper and problem fixed. Mine was popping half way up when I turned them off. THANKS!
Most excellent! Well described and as simple as it gets. I did notice a bit of an issue when I took the “spare” bump stops off of the other headlight. Perhaps they were the uppers? It did do the trick once I had them placed correctly. Thx!
Thank you for your help, I am no mechanic but i fixed the issue easily with your help...not sure what they call those star screws?? I didn't have one so I just improvised and used an allen key....I didn't disconnect the battery. Just left in on the tender...
Love the gorilla glue on the headlight cover where the screws go. Was it wrecked? Or did just that cover get ripped off in a car wash? Not the worst self repair I've seen.. It shouldn't be that out of alignment when closed.
I had the mechanic replace the gear on the headlight - but once I got the car home I noticed the twilight feature isn’t working. Could they have forgotten to plug something back in or break something? It was working when I put it in the shop to replace the gear. It was the drivers side gear replaced.
how do you fix drivers headlight that wont pop up,already changed motor,i tested motor of car before i installed it,its brand new,i installed it plugged in wires.headlight turn on,but drivers side wont pop up,do you have a solution,Thanks
Hi Craig, could you make a video with a walk through of your shop and also the grounds and perimeter of your lot. Would love to see the size and flow of how to keep, store and move vehicles on grounds. Maybe also a few words on what to look for in searching for a commercial property to lease/own geared for cars. Great vids! Thank you
Does your wife get nervous when she sees those pliers in the center console on date night? lol I'd leave em in there next time to see her reaction "Craig, what the hell are THESE for"? heheheheh
enough with the money grubbing.....in jest or otherwise, it cheapens what you do and who you are......that's the sort of thing a used car salesman might do.....oh wait!

I was able to do it without removing anything either.
Wow. I feel like an idiot after hours of novice work lol.

I was prepared to change the motor when I ran across your video. Worked like a charm. 15 minutes. Spares are located for use down the road.

Nicely presented and a lot of money if done at a dealer (stealer). Good job good buddy - as usual and thank you! Sonny (CT)

That is very helpful, thank you for sharing.
Thank you! Very helpful.
Is it possible to order new bump stops?
Cool vette
Anytime I have done this repair I use the available brass gears. Lasts a long time no comebacks.
Ozzstar the brass gear is for when the gear fails. This was just the bump stop issue causing the light to pop back up.
Do you know where those little bump stops can be purchased…

Why do you need to have the headlight on just use the manual knob to raise it up all the way
I may never own a Corvette, but just in case! Great tip!
Big ups !! Thanks

Do both bumpers wear like this or is it usually the one on each side?
Liked and subbed.
What do I do if the headlight doesn't want to come up?
Anyone know how to replace sticky c5 corvette switch
How much for the Vette.....
Good question
Sold it a few weeks ago
