We spent some time with top local hooper Ian Jackson! Ian plays for the Cardinal Hayes in the Bronx and is the 3rd ranked prospect in the Class Of 2024. He just committed to UNC, so we thought now would be a good time to release the video. Check it out and get to know our guy Ian!

He's one of our own. Rooting for the kid to do great things in UNC and beyond! Make NYC proud, Ian!
If I have that much talent I would of went to st johns, represent my state, but North Carolina gonna get him prime time games on tv, great choice, rooting for that brotha, coming from a Hoyas fan
Can't wait to see him that Carolina blue!
gonna be scary
Yessir!
Yes!! He made a perfect choice!!
I love these stories, but as a ex- semipro ball player from NYC, I would love to hear more young black males prosper academically. A black kid from the hood excel in science, math, engineering, technology or graduate early. The same energy used to practice ball can be used to read, write, and study.......Its the same dedication. Another amazing black ball player from an impoverished neighborhood..... that story been played on repeat since b4 I was all-city.
This is not the page for that my guy 💀😂
Rooting for you young man. Keep those grades up and your brain thinking. You can't play basketball forever but if your smart enough you can make enough money for the rest of your life
Nickinthecut did it better
💯
Just finna type that😭
Heels Tar
Definitely they need to make a part 2
Ofc
Can't wait until he comes to UNC
Make the knicks better my guy I’m from queens but I’m rooting fa you to go first round NBA just gimmie one or two titles in UNC
So glad he chose UNC.
2:53 bro go home 😂
🤣
😂😂😂
shot more broke than my bank account
I love this kid but the king brothers, marbury, Hawkins, Kenny Anderson, rod strickland, bob cousy Al Harrington, KAREEM and I could keep going but once you say mr jabber name it rodent make any sense but this kid is the future hopefully he could take the number 1 spot and bring the superstar element back to nyc hoopers
Too often I think players from New York buy too much into that because they're from there it really means something? It doesn't. Players are just as good, can be just as gritty, just as tough from anywhere. Players from other cities don't care that you're from NYC. It doesn't mean anything to them.
I guess the name Lew Alcindor doesn't ring a bell? Best ever? Who writes these captions??
Do great Kid
Lets go Tarheels
Is Ian Jackson the best high school basketball player to ever come out of NYC? Hell no! Kareem Abdul Jabbar's the best high school basketball player to ever come out of NYC!
Throw marbury in the conversation along with Lance stephenson, telfair, kemba walker.. but to me, kemba might be the best guard from New York when you think about it, McDonald's all american, won a chip at uconn, multiple all stars, by the time he's done with the NBA his overall numbers might be better than marbury.
I like the young brotha Ian Jackson though, it's hard to tell about his iq but I know he has it and iq and feel for the game counts and I think this young man has it and it will be on display in college n pros.
@Ausar Williams don't forget Jamal Mashburn, Ron Artest, Nate Archibald, Bernard King, Bob Cousey, Kenny Anderson, Chris Mullin, Mark Jackson.... the list is too long to name everyone and All these guys listed were NBA Stars. I hope this kid can join the list I'm Definitely rooting for him.
then he became airline pilot
FUN FACT: Michael Jordan Was Born In Brooklyn New York And Attended UNC...🤔
My man, you wouldn't believe how many people don't know that. 💯
Kareem boi🥶
@@goodymob9638everyone knows that . But he was only about 3 months when he left nyc. MJ is from NC. That man don’t remember one thing from being in New York. Even his movie “AIR” made it clear he from Wilmington NC, they didn’t mention New York once
@@Goatszncurrybro was 5 when he left nyc
Best New York City Hooper EVER!?......glad that you included the question mark. I'm thinking the great Lew Alcindor, he was 6'6" in the first grade and the hype was underway. Alcindor went on to lead UCLA to three national championships.
Just saved me a whole lot of typing.
Facts lmao wtf is up with this era all this tech and still getting shit wrong this kid probably not even top 20 😂
I can name at least 30 NY players that were way better than this kid
Setting this kid up for failure with titles like this
6'6 in the first grade what?
I've seen him enough to say he is definitely not the greatest high school player to come out of NYC but now if talking last 20 or 25 years, You can make the argument for that. Definitely the most athletic guard along with Hami Daillo I've seen come out of NYC. In my opinion I think Lenny Cooke was the best player to come out of NYC since 2000 and Captain Jack is not too far behind. Love that he is going to UNC starting the trend of NYC guys going there again like the Dean Smith days
Better High School player than Lance Stephenson??
Tons of better players. It’s a game of chance and opportunity.
@@Moonthre The guy earlier said that Ian Jackson was the best NYC High School player of the last 25 years. I'm not sure of that. Lance Stephenson of Brooklyn was a fantastic high school player.
@@philb.1502 It’s hard to say any player is the best out of NYC. If this kids the he’s probably the best disciplined. As far as Lance I knew some guys on the Lincoln team who were more talented than Lance, but the difference maker was the ego and discipline.
@@philb.1502 He won't be as accomplish at Stephenson was but he has a higher ceiling then Stephenson. He will be a lottery pick in two years
Best ever? Lew Aldindor, Dr J, Starbury, Kenny Anderson, Lenny Cook, and the list goes on...best ever is hard to say
The amount clickbait in the title ! EVER?!
Bronx stand up!!! you make it we all make. let it sink in...keep pushing, never stop!
Hope he stays focused and don’t get distracted. Looks like he has a incredibly high ceiling. Keep pushing young man.
Ever?
Kareem, Dr J, Donovan Mitchell, Kenny Anderson, Mullin, Mark Jackson, Jordan, Felipe Lopez, Shamgodd, Khalid AL amin, pearl Washington, Kenny The jet Smith, Whitehead, Kemba, ... bro NYC is stacked
100%! Also Bernard King,Melo,Cousy,Marbury,Odom,Artest,Make em Dance Lance,Rafer Alston aka Skip 2 My Lou,Oden,Harris etc
Connie Hawkins, Billy Cunningham
@@mariodediccio1099 Skip to my Lou... #legend
I remember when #Rafer went to Fresno State, we couldn't believe it.. he made it out, and every NY hooper, was happy for him 🏀🙌🏽💯
* did I forget Melo, probably bcuz I'm slightly bias 😉🍊🏆 (he's my guy)
@@Jabatu1 Connie Hawkins might have the longest arms of any post player in history🦒. He could up & under you, then finger roll from the 3pt line 🤣💥🏀..
J1, thanks bcuz I definitely enjoyed his highlights. He tore the post up ✂️.. his footwork was a nasty 🤘🏿
Khalid El Amin? He's from Minneapolis. I saw his hs team play. I should know.
Putting da bronx on da map🥵💪💪🔥
Then St.Johns should be his school.
Basketball talent is mostly coming Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Chicago and Atlanta. Texas, California and Florida is dominating basketball now. New York basketball has been garbage for many years now. I forgot about DC good too
Currently #2 in ESPN 100 for Juniors. Could he be the first "HS player of the year" from NYC (next year) since Felipe Lopez 1994?!
And Felipe Lopez played a grand total of four seasons in the NBA😏!!
The rest of his career was in overseas backwater leagues(not even in Europe)..
Hopefully this kid has a much better pro career than Felipe
@@BLACK_MikeHammer yeah Felipe couldn't get it going when everyone was his size in the league.
sick, can't wait to watch him at UNC.
same
He’ll go from a top 5 pick to late first round at UNC.
@@MaximusR93 better than going to the Rockets to waste & get picked up by a winning team
@@XMON888he would make making less money. You’re argument is a stupid one lol
Starbury? Skip to my loooooooou? Jelly fam? Alimo?
damn, i think he knows how to do everything except for pushups lmao
Ha, I noticed that form too. 😂
Steph was getting bigger and more media and we didn't have the internet yet. Marbury best NYC all day
Chapel Thrill!
UNC!!
Is it true that new york city Gaurds are gritty but generally shooting is not their strength?
The NY to UNC pipeline is back!
Glad to see we got another hooper from NYC getting recognition, I just hope he stay outta trouble & hang around people who have his mindset. We lost too many Bronx players getting recognized on social media all because someone doesn’t wanna see the next person shine so I hope he be on point living in the X‼️
What do you mean by « all because someone doesn’t want to see the next man shine » ???
@@francoismerieux8770 the Bronx is full of envy & hate so if you on a right path plus get social media recognition someone who don’t got shit going for themselves is gonna make you a target & it’s not like one person a whole group will envy you even if you don’t know them.
@@francoismerieux8770 trust me I used to live in the X I would know
I wouldn't say the best, Lance Stephenson was a dog in high school. I think he would have done this kid something serious.
@@NipDinero24 hope u aint talkin bout jelly fam
Kenny Anderson
Stephon marbury
Kareem that’s the best
Llyod Sweat pea Daniels,, at 14 was running all over the older guys in Rucker Park. Unfortunately the street ruined him.
Better than Alcindor or Manigault?? Doubt it!
Yes sir! I'm a NC Native and i still live here, about an hour and a half from Chapel Hill. I've been a die hard Heel fan my whole life and we are so excited to have this guy rocking that beautiful Carolina Blue! Welcome to UNC Young Man!!!
🙄😆😂🤣 ................. Can I stop laughing now ? ... Oh hell no 😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 ... I want to know, how old the person is, that put this video out 🤨
No he'll never be the greatest New York Hooper of all time you can you you can cancel that s***
are you crazy? Kenny Anderson, StarBury, Joe Hamond, Lou Alcindor, The GOAT...... kid is super good and a hard worker but cmon man
I love watching highschool kids step back travel to get a three off.... teach em early !!! That way their travel and carry can only get better !!
Best nyc hooper ever? Nice click bait title !!
Ian " Captain Jack" Jackson - don't let these hyped up headlines get in your head....keep doing you....focused, driven, grinding and humble. DO that and not only will your game speak for itself but all of us Bronx bred will have your back forever. Salute.
Looking forward to watching you play in Chapel Hill , and then the NBA
I’m from NY and a huge TarHeel fan, so let’s go!!!!!!!
Best Wishes To "Captain Jack." He is the future. His mentor in the orange hoodie looks familiar too. I know I played ball with him back in the day. Lol Salute NYC ballers. Throw the Xs up. Mount Vernon's in the building too. Know Dat. 914
There's a million of you, one mistake, off you go, who's next? 💯
Wowww best NY baller ever. I saw this hype many times. There is a difference between. Hype and Legend.
Let's chill with the hyperbole in the video titles. Not even close to NYC's greatest ever.
By the way the greatest high school big guard to come out of NYC is Albert King class of 1977 Fort Hamiliton
Let's pray this kid doesn't ruin his life going to the New York parties, hanging with jay-z etc instead of focusing on the prize..
Ever? Y’all ruin everything with the overhype.
There’s a line between hairstyles and unhygienic 🤮
HE GOING PLACES FOR SURE‼
factsss
i hope he has good positive people around him because alot of people are going to be on his jock. if things go south watch out. have a backup plan young brother and best to you!
It would be nice if stayed at UNC for all four years but the NBA will come a calling after the first year. I want him to stay at UNC at least 3 years. Yes, he could get injured but if he decides to stay at Carolina for 3 years he WILL be ready for the Big Time because UNC has a plethora of great players who are now UNC Coaches! Thanks young man for your commitment. The fans at UNC are some, if not the best, supporters of new recruits and are very loyal to the Best College in the Nation! Can't wait to see you play!
I hate this unkept dread lock look the young guys have now. It looks so dirty man.
Don't know how Jamaican natty bongo dread culture became a mainstay of these youngsters now....
Even Jamaican youth where this hairstyle became popular don't even rock their hair like this..
It's American youngsters emulating that style mostly, and I have to agree, it's not a cool look...
But when even a billionaire like Jay-Z is rocking the natty bongo dreads, then it's bad😁
They say these kids class of 24’? Wtf they feeding in nyc
we got some big dudes
@@Overtime Class of 24 but said he's a sophmore? Got me all types of Confused
@@fazzi9931 He’s a junior rn
NYC STANDUP!
gotta support our local hoopers
RIP TC 🕊 🕊 💙
impossible. MJ is from Brooklyn. The GOAT!
MJ never played NYC ball, he was only born in NY....
You could be right. But don't forget Kareem is from NYC.
Technically Jordan too, but I think he got his game down in the South.
good point
@@juandoe7802 jordan was born in BK, he grew up in Wilmington, NC though
Nobody in this era can be the best because nobody in this era work on their post game! So let's turn the hype down!!!
Can yall stop anointing these kids great before they even do something great lol.yall just setting kid after kid up for failure.
Love the T Clark comparison ❤️
I’M FROM BKLYN.. DONT EVER SAY THIS KID IS THE BEST EVER 😂😂😂 STRICKLAND/STARBURY/ANDERSON… sports illustrated.. time magazine.. poy in NY… are you joking or smoking??
NYC has had alot ballers to say this kid is the best let's wait and see. From Sébastien Telfair; Kenny Anderson; Mark Jackson; Stephon Marbary; Chris Mullin; Charles jones; God Shamgod; Benard King; Jamal Mashburn; Dr Jay Julius Irving; Kareem Abdul Jabar; Rod Strickland
Keep Ur Circle very small!
Keep Ur Azz out of Trouble!! When U leave…. Don’t Come back!!!
Play Hard! Follow Ur Dream!!
also, these young brothers need to be academically inclined as they are athletically.
What school ever do for anybody
1:52 Hows this kid a house hold name if. Ive
never heard of. Him lol
This. Kid aint no. LEBRON LOL
When they start broadcasting his games
Then use that term
Best nyc hooper ever is crazy title
It’s for clicks and views not to be taken too personally
Let's his not going to unc alone hope he could bring some dogs along with him I'm really not a Hubert da is fan as a coach I want Stackhouse as unc coach
Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul Jabbar) was from NYC. So was Mark Jackson, Chris Mullin, Steph Marbury and a ton of talented players I don't have space to mention. This caption loses you a ton of rep points. You can celebrate how great of a player Ian is without the outlandish statements.
Well He Is Different Bcz NY'Ers Dont Usually Wanta Go To UNC !!! But As The Best Ever Com On Now Who Sniffin A Bag Off Duggi !!! No Dis
He's good but come on! You got Starbury, Lew, Ron Artest etc... If he keeps his head down and works he'll be a 1st rounder! You really see if a player loves the game during college and pro's! I'll wait until then.
Advice: Don’t get big headed just because you’re from NYC - stay humble & hungry. There’s a lot of down south hoopers that don’t have the pub but been raised on fundamentals and physically gifted.
Do you know how preposterous it sounds to say “ maybe the best player in the history of nyc ?? “ The list of great players from nyc is ten miles long. He’s gonna be better than Kareem ? Dr J ? Bernard King ? Bob Cousy? Tiny Archibald ? Please stop.
Best NCY hooper ever is crazy
😳😳
@@Overtime literally insane. ever heard of Kareem Abdul Jabbar?
@@testnojohnny Or a certain MJ -23 from Brooklyn
@@DonGivani depends on what you consider "being from" since he moved to nc when he was a baby but yea he for sure was born in BK
🧢
He’s good but not taking him over high school Stephon Mauberry, Sebastian Telfair, or Lance
That title is foul, there were mad ballers in the NYC. You could never actually pick ONE out... and he hasn't done anything yet.
Best hoopers come out Midwest
ALL FACTS....But good luck kid!
play pick up games in summer where the pros at that get serious - full court - what - he don't think so? garnett said he stopped with the fries and burgers upon the rigor of nba schedule . walking up 14 or more flights of stairs ( then take elevator down ) . did nba ban high school picks?
You better love his hair and make sure you buy his accessories for you're kids so your kids can look up to him and dream to be him lol. But remember you start with his hair 1st clowns 🤡 Blacks rule again. #February
Got the young man achieves his goals BUT there will never be a NYC hooper better than Lew Alcindor.
IF THEY COULD ONLY TEACH THESE KIDS TO SPEAK ENGLISH CORRECTLY LIKE FOR INSTANCE JUST ONE LITTLE SIMPLE THING LIKE INSTEAD OF "AMMA" HOW ABOUT SAYING I'M GOING TO?"
That's about as high as a bar gets, given that Kareem came from NYC. Looks like he has the tools to wind up right there with the best perimeter players from the area. Stephon Marbury was my favorite.
He’s reminds me of Jimmy Butler allot. UNC got a great one
He following in a great line of NYC 🗽 PG's to Carolina Kenny Smith, Ed Cota, I think he's gon be the best!..
Don't forget Derrick Phelps
@@lashaunmccall8168 Facts
Capt Jack, I'm watching you from a distance keep your focus and your eye on the prize!
Best hooper in NYC EVER!!!!! CLICKBAIT like a mother
Let's go Heels
Like this guy. Saw a micd up video. He has fun on the court. Good for the game.
This title is a curse he doesn't pass my eye test and there is not a ball player from New York City that I haven't seen and I'm not connected to that would agree with this title I wish this young man the best
A million of us wanna play ball, but only a few of us wanna own something. Good luck with that.👍🏾
Not even close to the best. You guys clearly don’t know the history of NYC basketball
The caption is so false the greatest ever out of NYC realllly so marbury Kareem and countless others come on now Lance
