I always loved how densely populated Sleeping Dog’s version of Hong Kong was even though it didn’t have the biggest open world . All the NPCs and shopping districts always felt full of life .
I feel like a lot of open world games are just too big,I’d rather have smaller,more densely populated world with more uniquely looking and animated npc’s,like sleeping dogs did,by looking around you can pick up on so many little details,makes the world so much more interesting.

As a Hong Konger I can't express how much I love this game. I played the game through three times and its just amazing. The story gets you the feels and the progression system is extremely rewarding. Combat feels great and the gunplay is above average as well. It was so sad that this game never gets a sequal and it only got the recognition after like 5 years after its original release and now the studio has been shut down :(
@@1521Palm it’s not the most accurate. I would say it’s a more arcady Hong Kong. They just have different Hong Kong landmarks that are in different locations put within the 4 areas in the game. Also gang members definitely does not have well spoken English. Most citizens just cuss when you walk around the world, which is inaccurate but cussing is a big part of the beauty of Cantonese. Overall the general feel of the open world does feel like HK but more on the arcade side

I remember getting this game for free in 2013 when I bought an R9 290x. To this day it is still one of the only open world games that has the world's most satisfying vehicle combat to date. It's the only game where you can jump out of a car, shoot people, and land on another car just to hop in and steal it, all very seamlessly. I think "underrated" is still a good way to describe the game. For a game released in 2012 it contains many features that even high budget AAA games still have never bothered to implement.
i remember installing the game just because i have a bad pc which can't afford to run watchdogs 2 , turns out it was a better choice than wd 2 . it's sad that it doesn't receive any more DLC updates .

Love this game. The spooky chinese dlc is great fun too, and the Bruce Lee movie inspired one is fun. The characters are so vivid. The fighting is cool - learning all those special moves. The sequence when you return the jade statues, the dates, the races, the wedding stuff, there is just so much. Oh, and dont forget to get your boost from the 'massage' - although there is a guy who does actually do massage too. 😁 The homes you get. The definitive edition is a real treat. Did I mention that I LOVE this game?😁

The graphics are good, the martial arts type combat system is amazing, the gun play is a little underwhelming, but all around the story is actually captivating and keep me in after hours and hours of playing! One of my favorite games of all time, to be honest. Incredible combat, awesome story, memorable characters, insane missions, meaningful progression systems, unique setting, super believable city, perfectly sized open world, and just the right amount of freedom. Hell, even the DLCs are awesome.
Probably my favourite game ever, so ahead of its time and perfectly captures the fun and crazy open world crime charm that games like GTA had but with an amazing and easy to follow story, something that GTA games often lack. Not to mention, the combat, a badass protagonist and a beautiful map. Also it has unbelievable amounts of side content, probably my favourite platinum trophy. Whilst attention for this game is increasing by the day it is still definitely one of the games ever.

The remaster does one thing I never understood was a common thing in remasters. Making ui elements smaller, including the subtitles. The hype I had for TRUE CRIME: KONG KONG was unreal. Then when E3 showed that chase scene in Sleeping Dogs after a lot of changes was still really hyped, then the end result was a solid game albeit not quite as good as hoped but I was probably dreaming. Let's hope this new found appreciation of this beast game gets us a sequel! Great video 👍🏻

Late to your channel. But I wish they would make a sequel. This game was so good. I’ve been saying it for years this game was like neck and neck with GTA for me. That’s how good it was.
