I guess Warner Bros used an old syndication master tape of the film instead of a new restoration from the original negative or from a print

Do not expect to see the RKO Pictures (1981) or Warner Bros. Television logos on It's a Wonderful Life, Swiss Family Robinson (1940), The Bells of St. Mary's, Notorious, The Stranger, Dixiana, the Walt Disney-produced films or any of the RKO films in the public domain.
