    The Burden Hardest to Bear | Transformers: Generation 1 | Season 3 | E27 | Hasbro Pulse
    Feeling the pressures of leadership, Rodimus Prime is attacked by the Decepticons, who steal the Matrix of Leadership from him. As a result, Rodimus becomes Hot Rod once again, preferring to rather be the carefree Autobot he once was than the Autobot leader. Eventually, he will learn to accept his obligation to reclaim the Matrix from Scourge, who has been mutated by its mystical energies and is using its power to launch an assault on Earth.

      there is unrelenting pressure to satisfy customers in addition to bowing to sometimes less than hospitable clients. The pressure to always maintain a cheerful attitude and pretend to want to satisfy the unlimited needs and desires of clients can be overwhelming at times. Customer service has some perks-- you can meet some unique and thankful individuals. However, when bosses are not supportive and overbearing it can make the job difficult. I don't know your age but the key is to learn as much as you can while in your current position and consider the type of boss/leader you would want to be so that when the day comes that you have the opportunity to lead others you do so humbly, in a supportive manner, and in the spirit of service that uplifts others. That is how you create an atmosphere of trust.

    This episode in particular highlights a main issue I had with the Season 3 finale: The Return of Optimus Prime.
    Episodes like this one are clearly setting up character development for Rodimus. This one in particular being the biggest one. Rodimus abandoning the Matrix and returning to being Hot Rod, only to take it back and continue handling the responsibility. All that stuff he goes through about “Not being as good as Optimus Prime,” is slowly leaving and trying to accept himself as a competent leader. Even in other episodes like him calling out Galvatron’s bluff about a “super weapon” or him fighting Optimus’ reanimated corpse, it really does add to Rodimus’ development, trying to realize that he’s not Optimus Prime, but doesn’t have to be, he just needs to be a good leader.
    Then “The Return of Optimus Prime” just ends up shoving all of it down the toilet and treats Rodimus (not to mention a bunch of other characters in that episode) as a complete idiot just to make way for Optimus to save the day. All that development wasted just because a bunch of kids in the 80s wanted Optimus back (And not any other fan-favorite bots).

    • @CJStanz
      @CJStanz 2 роки тому +19

      I totally agree and always thought so as a kid in the 80’s. If they were going to bring Optimus back it should not have been at the expense of Rodimus’s character development. Rodimus should have remained leader and Optimus should have just continued on in some sort of mentor role, like Alpha Trion was to him.

    Out of all of the episodes of season 3, i thought this one was a very good one and showed what could happen if the power of the Matrix fell into the hands of a Decepticon, it was also a nice follow up to the Ultimate Weapon where it helped Rodimus Prime finally face up to his duty as an Autobot leader. I thought this episode did a great job in showing the responsiblities taking an emotional toll on Rodimus Prime as he began to show frustrations of being leader which we saw from previous episodes, in my opinion, it made for a great story arc from the end of the 86 movie all through season 3 to this episode and how quick he was to walk away from his responsiblities as soon as he became Hot Rod again but i liked that by the end, he learned the most important lesson of all: he who deserts his obligations is already defeated

    While Scourge and the sweeps were cowards on many occasions, Scourge did have some more insight at times then Cyclonus or Galvatron. That being said, the Matrix and the ancients knew Galvatron lied and the Matrix would have used any Decepticon to get back to Earth for Hot Rod to reclaim. It wasn't that Scourge was compatible with it like Hot Rod and Optimus are, it was the ancients bestowing power upon him, driving him berzerk and compel him to get to Earth. Hot Rod likely senses where the Matrix is, sees Scourge in his warped condition and gains the insight he needs to realize he has to carry the Matrix. Thus the Matrix taught Hot Rod a valuable lesson in wisdom and responsibility, and Galvatron teaches Scourge a few lessons in agony.

    This episode should be at the beginning or in the middle of Season 3, not at the end before Prime’s return. It shows the struggles that Rodimus had to endure as Supreme Commander and how he eventually accepted his responsibilities. He should have given more chances to show his upmost potential as Supreme Commander after this episode after what he just went through and accepted why he is chosen to lead.

    • @Supertron1
      @Supertron1 2 роки тому +2

      Most of the episodes from Season 3 aren't in chronological order. For example, Fight or Flee and Thief in The Night both take place before Starscream's Ghost, since they establish how Sandstorm joined the Autobot and how Octane got kicked out of the Decepticons, respectively. I think The Burden Hardest to Bear probably takes place directly after Five Faces of Darkness, since Rodimus hasn't yet fully accepted his responsibility as Autobot Commander.
      Also, The Return of Optimus Prime was a last minute addition to Season 3. There were plans to do a five part miniseries that would have introduced all of the new 1987 characters. Presumably Rodimus would have still been Autobot Commander like in the commercials, with something happening to revert him back to Hot Rod and team up with a Nebulan partner at one point. The decision to bring back Optimus apparently resulted in The Rebirth being cut from five episodes down to three.

Through out Optimus Prime's best efforts they couldn't retake Cybertron? And the beginning of the latest Cybertronian war the Autobots were being wipeout and Prime turned the tide. This episode showing how much Rodimus is dealing with as leader of the Autobots. This is how I imagine what Nero has been dealing after Devil May Cry 5. When finally learns that Vergil is his father. And when he and Dante left to trap themselves in the Underworld, leaving Nero in charge, until they return, eventually. Since then, Nero kept his promise to keep hunting Demons, now that he’s live up to Sparda’s legacy. But feels a little guilty for all the deaths of innocent people in Red Grave City, even though they know it’s not his fault. He just didn’t know what he was dealing with. Sure both his father and uncle are stuck in the Underworld, but he still has a family. A beautiful girlfriend, whose family was there for him when he was all alone. A Demon Girl who was created to look like his late grandmother, who he has as a sister. A girl whose father killed her mother, just to become a Demon who wants Sparda’s powers. Another girl whose father was a mad scientist who also became a Demon too, while she becomes Nero’s tech partner, who also upgrades his weapons. As well a bunch of orphans who lost their families during the savor incident in their hometown. Meaning he’s not alone. Because he has always been there for them, as much as Dante did in the past. He would even have someone to be his successor when he and Kyrie become parents. Because if there’s one thing that we should see in the next game. It’s the fact that the world doesn’t need a Sparda. It only needs those that were inspired by the Dark Knight himself.

    17:00 Since Scourge seemed to change focus once arriving at Earth i want to change Cyclonus dialogue to this: We're too late Galvatron, Scourge has already begun harassing elderly humans.

    While this episode does show the weight on Rodimus shoulders, i feel Scourg taking the matrix was kinda meh, let's change the idea up.
    How ever instead of loading it into his cannon Galavatron inserts it into his chest and it makes him stronger, but his evil mind starts to poison the matrix and this could affect autobots, making them weaker, like the decepticons battle throught the autobots who are being weakened by the posioned matrix to the point that Metroplex is ether knocked over by Galavtron because of power of him bein weakend, or he's unable to go to robot mode due the corruption.
    Hotrod see's the damage caused by him quitting, and goes to face Galvatron, and while he struggles again him due to the corruption, him refusing to give up and to save everyone starts to purify the matrix and it starts to hurt Galavatron allowing Hotrod of beat him and reclaim it and fully accepting his role and leader of the Autobots.

    I come back to this episode whenever I feel the burden of leadership. It's a great lesson and does get me back on track.

    2:57 The majority of the animation in Season 3 are done by AKOM. This episode is one of the few are done by Toei. The difference between AKOM and Toei are like night and day.
    For example, in AKOM's episodes, the expressions of the Cybetronians are almost non-existent. Their mouths most of the time are open like they are gaping.

    Dead End has always been my favorite Stunticon, so any episode that gives him screen time is great
