Nelson was way ahead of his time. It’s a shame he died nearly 2 years after this was shot. In these videos he shows a bygone age of American history. Here he is still alive, immortal, and showing us his world.
I was depressed tonight. But life is rich. So good to see this.
Yeah man. Don’t be depressed.
I'm depressed right now. But these videos are very soothing
These videos are addictive. I watch then often and over and over.
rhymeandreasoning same
They’re comforting, aren’t they?
@@MaryJenkinsallamericanmary These videos are truly priceless. RuPaul at the Jane Hotel is probably one of my favs. If I had to choose a fav, which is very hard to do.
@Dum Elve lol yes. Its stream. Happens when its cold out.
Me 1000000
I was about to turn 6 months old on this video. Hands up for Ronda celebrating her 67th Birthday this year. Wow time flies
Beautiful, almost like time travel
It's so nice to see N.Y.C. like this again.
Why would anybody give any of these videos a thumbs down? These videos are priceless.
They don't understand the gem that is a home video from a pre digital era
I cherish these videos so much..
Can't believe this channel isn't bigger.
0:46 Burger King has been long gone! It's now a a souvenir and gift shop in time square. It's near the corner of 46th street and Broadway. The Howard Johnson was torn down around 2005 and was rebuilt to a larger and taller building. I believe the American Eagle outfitter store is there now in it's former space if you want to check it out. The Roxy Deli also left and now sits vacant. Nothing on that block is there anymore. The street also no longer allows cars to drive down that street and it's a pedestrian plaza now for people to sit and eat outside.
I miss New York in the 80's. Best times of my life. I remember seeing a young Micheal Musto in the clubs when he wore a bit more eccentric clothing and carried some sort of box lunch pail looking purse.
Lucky you I would've loved to have been there!!!!!
Yeah he strikes me as somewhat creepy I just urgh I don't know there's something about him he's a wrong,un
He's kinda a jerk. @@joannbyrne182
Seeing that evil dead 2 sign at 0:55 was all the time travel I needed lol. Man these videos are cool.
Loved seeing that 😎🖤
Grooovy
I love Nelson’s videos. Whenever I watch a video I think to myself, what was I doing in March, 1987? I was 23 years old and working full-time @ TJ MAXX! RIP Nelson Sullivan. 🌺
I was 19 and in college. I worked a part time job at Dairy Queen.
@@gardendormouse6479 aah, I loved the 1980’s! 🍦
I was a couple months from being born 😬
And Jeffery dahmer was out killing
I was only 4 years old ❤
Thanks to the person who is uploading these magical videos. We are back in New York in the 80 s
This guy inspired me to start daily vlogging, legend
She’s 63 today I hope she’s doing well 🎂
She' deafff
She is 🙂
I was 16...evil dead 2 in times square!!!! Being from nyc its kinda mind blowing to see these videos thank you!
Evil Dead 2 now playing!
Yeah buddy!

1988 baby!
And who knew that this would be such a VALUABLE Video - its all gone...;(
Unbelievable!! Walking through Times Square and not seeing a single cell phone!
Noel I know lol, almost like being in the 1700s and not seeing cars.......
They had cell phones in the 80s bro.
@@aaronmaas22 Ya but 90% of ppl couldn't afford them. And they were big. Now everyone has a smart phone or basically a small computer. SO YOUR COMMENT MAKES NO SENSE? UNLESS YOUR A MULTI MILLIONAIRE???
@@aaronmaas22 99% of the people still didn't have cell phone. they were very very expensive
Even if they did have a phone. They were a far cry from what they are now. Really wish phones and social media never became a thing. But unfortunately the cats out the bag.
Can’t it been 30 years since nelson left us 💔🙏
God I Miss when this city was like this.. Dirty Ol NY!!
I was 6 years old when this was filmed. The 80s seem almost surreal now, but what an awesome decade to live through.
I was 6 also! To be in NYC in the 80’s in your 20’s looks like a lot of fun
Kids, the 1970s were actually BETTER ! @@ezekel.4656
Ah, the good old days of Times Square! I was at Hawaii Kai a couple of times back in the mid 1980's, kitschy, trashy fun.
Thank you Mr. Richards for yet another video. Much appreciated 🙏
I love Rhonda's hair...may get that done to mine. She is so sweet in the videos Nelson has with her in them.
It's crazy to think that this is now closer to 9/11 than we are now. Time fliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiies
how dare you use fucking 911 as benchmark in time.. How dare you man how dare you
@@eddieeclark314 bruh you wanna blame someone blame the government they playing you.
Time may fly but it can't fly into buildings!
12 years before 9/11😧
@@ch36799 ...this would have been 14 years before 9/11. This was 1987, 9/11 happened in 2001.
Rhonda’s hair is really with it!
Awesome, thank you for these really cool videos!❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for the videos it’s like being in a time machine
Wow what a young Michael Musto! I grew up on his work as a teen.
Time traveling is real
blast from the past i love this videos
I knew from the start of the video this would be my favorite one.
What a wonderful video! Rhonda Granger was absolutely stunning. Her and Brandt made such a lovely couple!
They were a couple? I thought he was gay?
@@meetmeinva he was
@@meetmeinva Rhonda is so beautiful she could transform gay men into becoming hetersexual

I was born and raised in a town in Oahu called Hawaii Kai. Love the videos.
I want to see the video of Michael Musto being born with glasses on.
He's an asshole. Always was, still is, always will be. It's nauseating to see him act like a little sissy girl at clubs throwing ice and pushing people. Uggh. But the rest of the people? Fantastic! Loved those days and they were mostly very nice to people.
@@daviddillinger4494 Michael Musto's abyssal void ! His ugliness is matched only by his wickedness and superficiality !
amazing city, amazing views what a city ,ny 80s is massive
I love this. Been looking for info about the Hawaii Kai since it was next to the winter garden, the home of cats. 💚
Damn this brings back my memories of the 80s
I swear this guys a time traveler
No. Most of us were videotaping everything at the time when video cameras were the big, new thing. A lot like this, actually. It's just that not everyone kept all of their tapes or were lost in moves, etc.
A howard Johnson's! Who else remembers those?
Seeing that cats sign brought back some memories
came back to watch these vlogs, NEVER SAW THE CITY ONE. BUT THE STEAM COMING FROM THE SEWER COVER IS REALL LIKE FROM THE MOVIES 😭.
Nelson Sullivan died 2 years later, and Brant Mewborn died 3 years later
Evil Dead 2 on the marquee! My favorite horror comedy!
Not phones, not the Internet, not social networks. Humanity is beyond digital slavery! Cool time!
This guy Musto was a writer for the Village Voice then made it on to MTV as well
He also used Angel’s murder by Michael Alig as an excuse to write pieces for his column instead of going to the police when he knew Michael was guilty. He instead posted the murder as a “blind item”.
I remember Howard Stern ragging on Musto on his early 90's WWOR TV show after he called Stern a homophobe.
Hey look, life thriving without the internet and social media.
Way better imo
Waiting for Jason Voorhees to kick over some punks boombox in the background somewhere...
Jason Voorhees didn't arrive in NYC until 2 years after this(1989)
NYC is the city that never sleeps. This video demonstrates that.
Evil dead 2 damnnnn I remember watching that when I was a kid lol
You'll never be able to visit this New York again, I bet.
Wow so Rhonda would be 63. Its crazy to see these videos. Hope she's doing well.
My best friend used to work at Hawaii Kai I can 1982 Ricky Chan it’s a great time to sit it
This guy is still uploading?! Holy Shit.
Luckily his footage is able to be uploaded still, even w his death happening in 1989.

Fuck, I’ve always been fascinated about the 80’s. The fact that people got to socially interact more often, with less anxiety and such, make me wish I never discovered my iphone and the internet. I know it sounds ridiculous, but it’s the reason so many people are depressed and filled with social anxiety, since they have whatever they want without leaving their own home, without basically putting effort into them. And when they finally confront those situations in real life, they wouldn’t understand how to fully interact at all, and eventually lose a little control of their social interactivity, unlike the people who’ve dealt with it 30 years ago.
1,900 hours worth to go!
Physx He died in 1989 From a heart attack and the owner of this channel is his friend Dick Richards and Dick died in September 2018
Nice video
Evil Dead 2 at the cinema!
0:52 Evil Dead 2... As a horror fan, thats awsome to see
Christ, I'm at the age when I can say "I remember the HoJo's... Oh, yeah, I bought stuff at The Colony." NYC is always changing, and yet, always the same. We've been bitching about the same things since the first two bricks were paired up.
Funny... I went to see Cats in 1987.
FYI: It was terrible
almost all of these signs were up during the filming of friday the 13th part 8
Evil Dead 2 on the marquee in Times Square 🔥
What a Musto kind of poops
80s nyc vibes is crazy
that's sick as hell evil dead 2 now playing
These vids can be depressing. Folks in their prime of their lives in the great 1980s. Now many are dead, including Brant. Died in 1990.
I never knew being nostalgic could be so bittersweet...
Reams and reams of music
Este es el verdadero NYC!!
Ronda born 1957. Today so long ago back then just 30 years.
Wow so Rhonda is 63-64 yrs old now She was very pretty
Evil dead marquee at movie land so cool
It was mentioned somewhere that Nelson caught on tape a gentrification riot, I assume the one in tompkins square park. Is that one posted yet? I looked but may have missed it.
Jennifer G I remember the Tompkins Square Riot. I was home, it sounded bad.
wasn't it another legendary video guy from that time?
There's a real sadness in Rhonda's eyes at 3:47.
The 80's...when every other car was a Chevy Caprice classic lol
Whole time thinking ab how Jeffery dahmer was out killing during this timeframe.
👍Michael is funny. 🤔 I wonder how Rhonda and everybody else is doing now. I wonder if Hawaii Kai is still around. I’ll have to look that up. This is like a time capsule. 💞
LovingAtlanta it closed in 1989 or short after sadly
Nah, no more Hawaii Kai. It was only around for a short period of time. Michael Jordan's steakhouse was there at some point too for awhile. Rhonda's husband Brant was a really cool guy. Sadly, he passed away after Nelson.
@@JB-zo7ln you're off about it only being there for a short time ...Hawaii Kai opened Sept of 1961 and closed December 1988 ..close to 30 years
This is magical
I'd just love to find out how this person got all of Nelson's videos to upload to youtube?
Its the killer 😅😂😂
Go on Wikipedia it tells about how he git every video ....close to 1100 hours of tape
How can people see with shades at night ?
I love seeing Michael M be goofy
Rhonda had a cutting edge haircut for back then
Evil Dead 2 in Theaters, nice.

That Mustos a real character, little punk.
0:52 Freedom Tower in the distance
Hopefully you're joking ...Freedom Tower didn't exist then and wouldn't be built for another 3 decades...do you mean the twin towers aka WTC
The Freedom Tower is ugly. Bring back the Twin Towers
I'm glad Nelson Sullivan didn't see the Towers fall it would have broken his spirit
This Girl is 62 today.

Yeah it fucking does :D
Michael was probably going to meet James St. James. He mentioned at the end of the video he was going to the Paladium. James was always out. He was also a trust fund baby, able to party and not work much. I wonder what he’s doing these days in 2023. Brian Telfair introduced me to James… DJ Brian B… 🌝
Michael Musto is such a poser
One epic Burger King
1:10 steam coming out of that sewer we all know the ninja turtles were down there
Weird, that’s how the strip in Vegas looks today 😂
