I recently sold all these mostly rare items to a University not knowing he value. I have been looking at kits to start and getting it to South Africa is a nightmare and costly. What type of brush did you use to paint the gold lettering on the spine? Where did you purchase it? Once you start on these letters don’t you have to paint all of them in order to make it look consistent?
You can go to any art supply store and get a Liner Brush. There are many brands and types. This one is a 10/0. In this case I probably will paint over them all, but every case must be considered separately. Many times I have just touched up a few letters because the gold matched perfectly. This book's lettering has faded significantly and was likely not real gold. I could have matched the color to blend better, but chose to brighten it instead.
