Thanks for the tip about removing the fan shroud first in order to free up some space and make life a bit easier. Did the pump on an EF Falcon a while back with the shroud in place and shredded my knuckles on the sharp plastic edges in the process. Replacing the pump on my BA ute tomorrow and hopefully things will go smoothly! EDIT: All went well, but you were right about the bottom bolt being a pain to get in, however I succeeded in the end without power tools by doing a lot of jiggling. And yeah, for anyone doing this I would suggest sourcing a new o-ring firts (not supplied with the pump); mine was all distorted and dry however fortunately didn't leak a drop when I reinstalled the HP line, so I guess I got lucky.
There is a aftermarket high pressure powersteering line you can get on ebay that replaces the old one and it eliminates the nut with the orings seals inside it it's a flare style seal with a over nut that slides up to the pump securing it and sealing the lines together
Recently bought a power steering pump from the link below. New power steering pressure hose fittings do not screw all the way into the pump or rack. Will this be ok?
I'm still having whining noises while accelerating and in idle could i have messed up the line because I put the high pressure line on(with some difficulty) AFTER I'd already bolted on the new pump to the engine and I haven't put the line on correctly where it's mean to be or even bent the line maybe?
@@Moot-destroyerhey mate, nice username btw 😂 I ended up taking the piece of sh1t pump off because it’s Chinese and super loud. I replaced it with a refurbished one that I found from my local area (think it was like Ringwood in Vic) the people at parts factory Aus are very quick to say no to refund for the terrible part. The refurbished one was much much much better, better than my original. Just make sure when you replace it that you never go full lock too often again when turning cause it’ll blow up any power steering pump on falcons. That’s what happened to me at least. I installed a metal filter (magnet like system) on my return line so that I could hopefully get any metal parts from the original pump (in the case if there were any) out of my steering rack and stop it from circulating. Lmk if you need anything else
@@Moot-destroyeroh and make sure you put mobil 424 liquid in the system cause the original ford one is crap apparently, makes the system run a lot better
My new pump is making turbo noises when I accelerate... Tried 2 times putting the front of car off the ground and turning the wheel left to right 40 times but still there. I think I did install the lines after I'd already screwed the pump to the block. I guess I've got air in the system??
@@thepartsfactory4239 thanks for reply! there's no bubbles. Actually even after I put the pump on and started it there wasn't any froth or anything even before I did the wheel turns. It's seems to turn normal apart from the whirring sound and a little bit of play in the steering wheel when beginning the turn. Maybe I've created a leak at the connections or the pump is just naturally noisy I've heard some pumps can be noisy
Removing the fan is much more difficult on mine (non turbo I6) because of tabs on the bottom of the fan that foul on radiator hoses. As far as I can tell the radiator hoses will need to be removed
Takes about 2 minutes to take the fan out. For a beginner, this is appropriate as it helps them have confidence in completing the task. I know that often people will fear tight spots and forfeit the job. Cheers for your input
Thanks mate this exactly what I needed. So simplly explained and straight forward

Haha yep! I also shred my knuckles on the fords.
Hey! You mentioned in the video that you have an O-ring replacement video coming! Just wondering when it's coming out as it's been a few months now.
Thanks mate I've just swapped out the pump on my son's car. Good clear information Cheers!
thanks bro, great vid... my power steering just popped with hydraulic fluid all over the road, this will help me tomorrow
That's bizarre... Where did it pop?
@@thepartsfactory4239 I need to have a proper look. I heard a click then all the liquid poured out and then smelt it burning

Great Video mate. Let me know if you do a turbo replacement or intercooler install.
Good video with clear instructions. Thanks
0:23 haha just a normal person... Hears a loud car... Looks at it xD
Thanks for the video, very easy.
Hey mate so when will you be release the video of the O ring replacement has my 03 ba wagon has a power steering leek.
Has he releases the o ring vid yet
Much appreciated. Cheers Mate!
Glad to help
Thanks very helpful 👍
Great video. Helped alot thanks.
Glad it helped you! Thanks
That was fantastic advice and great job thanks 👍👌
Thankyou :) !
Critical to use the right fluid (Mobil 424).
This is a brilliant video mate, well filmed
How do you know what power steering fluid to top up with do you need to flush it with a new pump or just top it up?
Full flush. Google what it needs is usually best way. Thx

Hey , where is the power steering pressure switch on these motors , is it the switch right next to the reservoir? Getting a p1550 on the diag
Yep that's right. Common Fault
There is a crack in my power steering pump reservoir and it leaks should I just get a new pump or should I sus out the O ring?
Possibly cheaper and more effective to replace the entire pump

The replacement lines from kelpro do not go all the way in

I’ve got the same problem with this pump, did you fix it?

Yes check fluid for air bubbles. It's cavitation

Shouldn't be like that. Also have a non turbo and fan is easily out/in.
Have to tilt on a certain angle and it will clear the hoses.
Mine also isn't that easy to take out,
But I truly appreciate this video. 💯👍
Thums up

Not the correct fluid tho
3:22 wtf dude hahahahaahaha
Ummm you out on the same pump. Not the new one. Wtf
He explained why in the video. The old pump turned out to be fine and did not need replacing; the problem was a leak in the line due to a bad o-ring.
Thanks Phillip... haha
