    When you were painting the back of the window insert white, I was mesmerised by how beautiful your flooring is. I saw them when they were first done but, I was really having a good look. They are absolutely stunning! The stain colour is so rich and beautiful good job Drew. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen more beautiful floors. I absolutely love the style of the boards as well. Years ago ny husband and I bought a large old colonial on the water in RI. It was charming with loads of character and we loved it. The problem was we didn't have nearly enough furniture to fill it and no way were we going to buy new. So we shopped antiques, consignment shops, and auctions. We have great stories about our adventures searching for pieces that spoke to our hearts and made our home cozy (despite its size) and beautiful. It was a dream come true for me and I can see it's the same for Drew. Great job! ❤

I love painted cabinets. Anyway you are an inspiration to so many people wanting to do it yourself.

      @Lynsey17 Рік тому

      @@donnapecoraro3126 Yeah, I don't know what they're called unfortunately. I googled "mullion clips" and those exist but aren't what I'm thinking of - the metal pieces protrude from the ends of the wood and are much smaller (you can't see them unless looking very closely).
      I wish I could describe them better but I couldn't find them by googling and I don't live near my parents so I can't take a photo.

    • @Chaos_of_beauty
      @Chaos_of_beauty Рік тому +2

      Mullions are vertical shafts located in between windows. These elements offer structural support for the windows. Meanwhile, muntins are found on the window glass itself. They are vertical and horizontal elements that divide a window's glass into a grid.
      I would have added some on the outside as well and then you wouldn't actually see the tape pieces. You could actually glue them on the whole surface. And I would have used metal, the wood pieces don't seem that durable.

    • @jazzythecat918
      @jazzythecat918 Рік тому +2

      I have wooden mullions that came with attached to the ends are little metal clips shaped like a flat triangle (they are pointy and sharp like a razer blade) they easily slide in between the wood molding of the window and glass. I have Marvin windows that look just like Foxes. I bought them from the store I bought the windows from. Fox should go to a window store and ask about it.
      It's a hard thing to describe, but once you see it ...its an ah ha moment.

      That is a great idea. Slow down, and do that after the lighting, after any decor, etc. I would also propose a very plain flooring. With the windowpane, marble, things on open shelving, you might want to keep the floor minimal. Not everything in a room can be the star of the show. Let the marble be the focal point and everything else is the supporting cast.

    For those who don't live in the LA area & have access to tough skin - applying a layer of marine wax to your marble will protect it from stains. You have to re-apply a couple times a year & be careful what cleaners you use. I use a few drops of Dawn dish soap in water to clean mine.

      Thanks. Of all the comments about the marble, this is the one that makes the most sense to me. Marble is gorgeous but seems so impractical without treatment, and plastic film is ruined by heat or knives - the two things all kitchens on Earth have in common! Marine wax sounds like the best solution imho.

    You have to remember not to sit a hot pot on it. Can it be kicked by a knife? You would need to be careful placing a knife down. I had 4 quartz boards cut from my counter quartz. I placed 2 on each side of sink. The one closet to stove top is where I sit my pasta pots to drain in my colander strainers. Then I can wash veggies etc and use left or right to cut up vegetables. I use the other 2 on island. To cut on, roll out pie dough, cinnamon roll dough etc. It's a bit larger. The other one makes a great presentation tray for cheese, prosciutto, peppers and crackers etc.

    Wish I had the marble treatment you got, because I insisted on having it despite the warnings. It was a scratched up stained mess. I had some Italian marble cleaner that prettied it up but it drove me crazy. A splash of lemon or wine and ugh. I love your enthusiasm and joy when you act on your vision and you are thrilled with the results! Everything you're doing is so gorgeous!!!

    LOVE,LOVE the mullions in the windows! Gorgeous 😍
    IMHO the marble wrapping is a wonderful idea to maintain the marble.
    I am a fan of white cabinets, but OMG the color you chose for your cabinets is beautiful. I love the view you showed going in to the kitchen after tge painting of the window. Oh and the marble extending up in the cabinet....brilliant. That view is already stunning, can't wait to see it completed.
    Take care

    Drew, your work ethic is amazing and you are such an inspiration for everyone, including the youth of today who are looking for role models. You’re so creative and have such a great “can do” attitude; if you don’t know how to do something, then you will problem solve and research how to do it.

    Def need the diamonds on the kitchen windows! Are we bringing back stained window trim?!? Yours look amazing.
    I can’t wait to see the new marble pieces behind the open shelving. After your last video I added this idea to a new built-in we are doing on a weird wall that’s visible from our living room, dining AND kitchen. I wanted a coffee bar and counter to be part of it anyway but now with the marble look carried from the counter all the way up behind open shelves in the middle. Im so excited.
    Also, the Lone-Fox-Squeal is my fave part of any reveal moment! 😂❤❤❤

    Honed marble will be ok if it stains because you can sand it out. I’m glad to know there is a product to protect it.
    Diamonds in the windows would be on par for a kitchen window from that era, adding a few colored pieces would be even better (a film of some sort)
    As for tile a terra cotta floor would work but you could add little decorative tile within or a border of tiles. In Tulsa we have some Spanish Revival and I’ve seen some with this tile in a loggia.

    Drew, to protect your floor finish put felt leg pads underneath all the legs that touch the flooor. To ptrotect the walls use small ones on the backs of furniture pushed against the wall.

    "Ithink they might have forgotten to make it longer", u 're such a lovely paraphraser, finding polite ways in saying" they sent me crap, they made a mistake." Great to see you sit doing nothing for a flip second in those new chairs, it is shg you don't ever do...So enjoy a simple restful 2 minutes in your chair this week. And jumping us into a new hyperactive vidéo soon after!

    12:11 Great product. You'll need to stock up on trivets. No hot pans or dishes on the counter. Have fun with antique trivets! Iron and brass swirls galore. Wooden bread boards'll work, too, but will get scorched.

    Ok. I am obsessed with the marble going up the back of the wall. Like the inspo pic had me drooling 🤤 and I absolutely love the way the marble looks and the business you shared with us today! I'm not in la but I sent it to my la friends bc it's awesome!
    Can you let us know how it holds up to heat?
    Love the design and all of the cool things you're showing us. I live in a new construction home and I'm really trying to add character to it that makes sense with the construction and is timeless. Thank you for all the inspo.

    I’d love to be your grandmother. I’m so proud of you. You are so cute I love how excited you get with all your projects. A lot of these people kind of wanted to see your marble all natural without the coating you put on there but I’m with you, you spent a lot of money for those counters and this just gives you peace of mind they’ll always look beautiful and not stained. I did wonder why you got those though. I would’ve opted for quartz.❤
