@@5MinuteMusic Thanks, I just subscribed! My tube amp and Mustang III V2 are both open back so I might check to see how the Crush 20 does with open back.
So... Another cool trick in this one is go into the dirt channel and set the output volume at maximum (10) and slowly start to increase the gain around 2~4... It starts to add slightly compression, great for blues, rolling stones kind of sound.
Just got the crush 35rt coming from digital only amps it's amazing the volume quality love the break up. My wife in fact stopped me from traveling along way and said get the Orange couldn't be happier
I suppose that the fender amp sounds louder because it's a valve amp but the Orange really gets into it's stride as it gets louder. Great video. Merry Christmas.
Bought this model a year ago... I've stopped wanting a Fender amp... or a Vox! I use it with a Cube Baby - ans some good IRs - and entertain at some local venues... and it meets every requirement I have - except being battery powered. I just can't fault the sound for blues, pop and jazz!
I've owned the 35RT for like 5 years now and didn't know it did this! This amp is a pandora's box. Everytime you experiment with it, you find something else.
Question I’m thinking about buying a 35rt how does the aux in sound ? And the headphone out sound and when playing with backing tracks can they equalize in volume ok ? Thanks in advance
The older silver face amps break up early… I mean there is no comparison in terms of which amp is better. I have a 65 black face deluxe reverb, a 64 vibrolux reverb, a tweed hot rod deluxe and a orange crush 35rt. I think the point is these little orange Amps are great for the price! Does mine sound better than my fenders ? Absolutely Not…is it even close!? No lol But for price, I’d still gig my crush 35rt if had to. Perfect practice amps! Worth every penny!
Did you ever have any old silver face amps 😅 !? They ain't breaking up unless at full volume damn near ! These amps you are playing are nothing like the old silver face fender, because nothing really is unless maybe a big hi fi tube Amp but what you are playing through does have some break up in the amps by design. The old silver face were design not to distort but renown clean. There's something wrong with his Silver face in this video by the fact an orange cr20 sounds way way better than the fender and the fact it's breaking up like that so early.
The 20 RT can be very suitable for Jazz, I tried it with a Telecaster, however, you must not exceed the volume to 7 and at this level the sound is already very noisy. (Sorry for my English, I'm French speaking)
I've had tube amps but had to move and sold them. 8 months no amp until I got the 35rt the other day. There are a lot of things to like about it for the price. I ordered a mono price tube amp about the same price that I sold before my move but it came to my door in a box that wasn't damaged yet when I opened it up the speaker was broke loose and all the tubes smashed with the bottom of the cabinet cracked. The actual chassis seems fine and somehow the speaker didn't get a hole in it. LOL I was crushed but now I'm orange crushed!
Try the Tiny and Micro tube hybrids if you're looking at Orange; also, separate cabs are always going to provide greater tonal range and output flexibility. At the cost of actually doing the homework, and understanding your gear, you can jump off from a better place all around. Orange, with a few exceptions , is like Vox in that they offer some specific sounds you either seek, - or that just won't work for you.
I bought this amp two months ago . The dirty channel ..is great for modern metal..just tweaked the knobs for smooth sound.. now i use my id core for clean..for the orange does not have effects
I have a 35RT. If I was to run a distortion pedal (Caline Tantrum) into the clean channel, should the treble, mids, bass, and volume be turned up more on the 35RT or should the treble, mids, bass, volume be turned up more on the distortion pedal?
I have the CR60C which is 60 Watts. The clean sounds amazing. I actually feel it sounds better than my 1971 Fender Princeton Reverb. Bad thing is today the volume broke. I mean it sounds not so loud and full at any volume. Don't know what happened.
The same thing happened to my CR120 head and it was a capacitor that blew up and I just so happened to spot it an also have the exact value and style of cap so I replaced it simply with a good soldering iron it was easy . I know that's what it wrong with your amp. You can open it and spot it easy on the pre amp. O wish I knew the value of cap but I sold it after fixing it and testing it Loud again to make sure it won't blow up on any one else. My buddy also had A Orange cr35 totally blow up on thy preamp and he power section and then blew up the speaker on top of that, it was crazy, I was there and it was hard to believe that so many Orange amps burn up like abs pop those caps. Good thing the boards are tough enough to fix the shit Chinese parts that break and pop.
is there any way you can get it to not break up? I would like to be able to have a loud clean tone without distortion. EDIT:I have the amp now, it's fine you can just roll back the mids a tad bit
try tweaking your volume knob on your guitar, maybe even try a guitar with different pickups, also sometimes tweaking eq or gain setting if there is any on your clean channel helps, but generally lower watt amps break up easily from what I've noticed, probably higher watt and bigger speaker would go further without distorting the sound on higher volumes
Thanks a lot. I am facing problems with my tone since I started playing guitar. My guitar sounds so noisy in drive channel . My bridge pickup is humbucker. Guitar volume 7-8 , guitar tone 1, and on Amp Treble - 75 % , Middle:-45%, Bass :- 20% and Gain on 75%.
@@_utsav It sounds like you might have a grounding issue with your guitar. I can diagnose this issue with a multimeter. You can find instructions on how to do this here on UA-cam. Good luck :)
About to put a Jensen cr8 in mine.... if it ever shows up🙄 thoughts? Personally, never loved the original speaker but always thought it was a decent amp for low volume practice. After 10 ish years, I’m going to give it to my son to practice his bass. I’m going for more head room and less break up. We’ll see 🤷🏼♂️
Hey! I was wondering how I could get a fuzz type tone from the champion 20 or even the orange crush 20. You know, that 60s fuzz. I'd really appreciate it if you gave me amp settings or tips and stuff. Thanks
A very interesting comparison! I am thinking of buying the orange Crush 20rt and a question arises. If I use the clean channel, does it mean that I'll not be able to play at high volumes with a clean sound because it will always break up?
I am not sure because I have never personally tested the 20rt. The Crush 20 starts to break up around 5 so it gets a little loud before breaking up. Thank you for watching and commenting!
But if I want to have a really clean and strong sound and connect a pedal with chorus, or do a bit of Jazz I can have a Clean sound or in that case it is preferable to have a Fender Champion 20???
I have the orange crush 10 - and i wanted to know how to clear up it's sound a little... i play a tele through it - but i dont get that classic tele sound... would i need to buy a fender amp too ?
I have the cr20. Im really happy with everything the amp has to offer. The only thing i would like is to add a 1x12 external gabinet because It sounds a bit small and boxie to me. I have already studied how to do it. Now the cuestión is... Would it sounds better? Worse? Different?
It would sound different. I used to wire a 15watt Marshall transistor amp (similar to this orange) to a 1x12 closed back speaker cabinet. Definitely sounded bigger.
I have this amp and found that on the dirty channel using the the gain knob at low level you can stay pretty clean and just gradually turn up the gain for the amount of break-up you want. Great for blues and early rock and roll witch is where I live
I had the 15 and loved it but had to let it go, kick myself in the ass for doing it. Now I have this cr20rt and it's good but if I could I would trade it for the pathfinder 15 witch I don't think they make any more. I also have the pathfinder 10 and it's really good too but not near as good as the 15 was
In nyereati g that you chose an unresolved chord progression. It may have been anticipation of resolution that kept me watching. Would be good to hear a few single notes to hear how the amp responds to picks etc. Demo the dynamics, that's what makes an amp sound good for breakup tones
