Swedish fella over here - I went to a party back in high school (2013) and met a friends friend while waiting for the bus and I remember this guy mentioned that he was cousin with yung lean. Since I didnt really know who he was at the time I didnt care too much about it and just replied "cool" without being really impressed. He proceeded to shove ginseng strip yt video in my face while on the bus clearly showing how proud he was of lean. The day after the party I remember checking out yung lean and I realized that this kid had one or two bangers with a couple million views on youtube and at the time I thought it was kinda aight but I never thought he would persist. That was my first encounter with lean, on a cold rainy dark October night in 2013. And holy fuck he grew on me over the next years. Back when I was around 14-15, I listened to so much yung lean. Me and my friends copied his style and this whole sad boy aesthetic. Haven’t listened to him in about 7 years. Found him again yesterday and holy shit. The amount of influence this guy has made is unreal. Back then, people would make fun of us because of our style, and taste in music. And Look now. This guy invented a new genre. I can’t believe this. I’ve been chronically nostalgic for the past 24 hours.

Swedish fella over here - I went to a party back in high school (2013) and met a friends friend while waiting for the bus and I remember this guy mentioned that he was cousin with yung lean. Since I didnt really know who he was at the time I didnt care too much about it and just replied "cool" without being really impressed. He proceeded to shove ginseng strip yt video in my face while on the bus clearly showing how proud he was of lean. The day after the party I remember checking out yung lean and I realized that this kid had one or two bangers with a couple million views on youtube and at the time I thought it was kinda aight but I never thought he would persist. That was my first encounter with lean, on a cold rainy dark October night in 2013. And holy fuck he grew on me over the next years. Like many of you say in the comments, he was so ahead of his time and I know some people even refer to him as the godfather of "cloud rap".
