adamthewoo That was so awesome! Love all those details. You missed one though: The entryway to the park is based on the Pan-Pacific Auditorium, a landmark structure that once stood at 7600 West Beverly Boulevard in Hollywood's Fairfax District near CBS Television City. The building had a key role in the movie, Xanadu. The Anaheim fruit stand you mentioned was actually a reference to a real fruit stand of the same name, also right by Television City, at the Farmer's Market next to where The Grove shopping center now stands. Thanks again!
This was an amazing vlog. Wow! I love old school Hollywood. I thought I knew Hollywood everything there was to know about Hollywood buildings. I was wrong. Can't wait to go back and see these buildings for myself.
Why isn't Adam presenting some kind of TV show for kids.He has the perfect humour for them, and he makes you feel like he is talking to you one on one.His vlogs just get better and better,,see you tomorrow Adam,,from the UK.=)
So awesome, so many great memories of MGM, went there on my Honeymoon in 93, and took my kids there many times over the years. I'll always call it MGM.
Today's vlog! Phenomenal! I work in Pasadena, CA and drive past and frequent those buildings often. I will never look at them the same! So weird how so many beautiful things go unappreciated when you are unaware. Thanks Adam for another great vlog!
Adam! It was great meeting you at Hollywood Studios yesterday man (you complimented my Darkwing Duck shirt). Like I said, I watch your stuff everyday. Thanks for everything you do and keep up the great work and goodluck on your future destinations! -Justin
Adam this is one of my absolute favorites so far on this channel. Very informative. I love old Hollywood and I smiled as you included the fake Norma Desmond at just the perfect time 😉. Can't wait for tomorrow's vlog. 😊
This has been my favorite park for a while because of the detailing. I knew they modeled it to old-time LA but I had no idea just how accurate they were. This was awesome, thank you! You gave me a new kind of love for this park!
this was amazing! When I was in WDW back in May, we spent the least amount of time at this park and now I regret how little I actually walked around and looked at all the things that still remain in this park. Can't wait to go back someday and really appreciate the park the way you do!
Hey Adam I only started watching you a week ago when I heard you on Tom and Dans podcast but now I'm trying to watch every TDW you have made I think you are super entertaining and now look forward to spending some time with you every day. Thanks for doing what you do!
Great Job Adam. My wife and I loved watching this. We have strolled down those streets many times, blissfully unaware. We will be looking more closely this September on our next visit to MGM. Very Interesting Vlog.
I am a big fan of "Art Deco" design. I just love the recreations that Walt had built. Thank You Adam for filming them !!! Was that Gloria Swanson with her Oscar ? Awesome ! :)
Here is a site that is very helpful and has so much info on actors and movies (including bio, trivia, goofs, filming locations, soundtrack etc. imdb.com
Wonderful vlog episode, Adam. This was fantastic to see the newer re-creation structure and the actual historic building. Disney imagineers made the impossible possible. Thank you so much for highlighting these delightfully vintage details at Disney Hollywood Studios. A+
Fantastic vlog Adam, I really appreciate the time and effort you put in to lining up the shots and pointing out random facts! You inspire me to get up off the couch and learn something new each day!
OMG I LOVED today's video! We are Annual Passholders from Tampa so after going so many times we love new adventures in WDW. I have to go to HS this weekend after your meetup now and look at all the buildings! Love it, and love your Disney videos!!
Just wanted to give you a huge thanks for what you have been doing all this time with your blog me and my family watch them every day my daughter wakes up excited to watch your shows every morning thanks for the inspiration thanks for the lovely videos and thanks for the awesome Colombo like research skills
I have always admired that 1920-30 Art Deco style architecture and word fonts that go with it. Hoover Dam has that type of a architecture and art work in its monuments, and many kudos to you Adam for all that intense research of building comparisons.
thank you Adam this was a great video I loved learning the history of MGM Studios I enjoy all your videos most of the time thank you sir and keep it up
Love all the Art Deco buildings..... that is my favorite period in architecture, artwork, ect.... I just love the clean lines. GREAT vlog today! Thank Woo!
it's nice to see that you also appreciate the overlooked amazing details of the original Disney MGM Studios. I have many pictures of the CA buildings and WDW counterparts in a binder! Mind blown!! How many millions have walked by these buildings not realizing they were replicas? Great video!
This is a really awesome video! I always loved the architecture in DHS, but was unaware that they were modeled after actual buildings. I always thought it was "inspired" by the architecture of the time. Had I know of if this info this last week when I was there, I'd probably have paid a bit more attention to detail. Also, not sure if you remember or not, but I was the guy that bumped into you and Tim as you guys were walking out of Epcot on the Deathstar night. It was great meeting you! Sorry we didn't get to talk a bit longer.
I've never been to MGM (Last WDW trip it was under construction!) but I feel as if I know it well, thanks to your main channel and these vlogs. Thanks for always learning me, Mr the Woo!
I've never been all that interested in visiting MGM/Hollywood studios, but this exposition has changed my desire. So much fantastic detail. excellent video.
Awesome vlog today. Thanks for putting that all together!! I've always known that the building at MGM had real life counterparts, but never looked them up.
Amazing vlog Adam. Loved how you showed us the comparison. I live in Southern California and enjoy seeing old LA. I really need to get out to FL and visit WDW. I go to DL at least every other weekend, and when I was in the Navy I went to Tokyo DL. WDW is an absolute must.
Your hard work is very much appreciated. You definitely used your amazing Columbo-like research skills on this one. I just LOVED this! It will always be MGM to me as well. Thank you!!
Wilshire really was a part of Hollywood past. Nearly 70 years ago, my dad used to work at a pharmacy (Exclusive Prescription Pharmacy) on Wilshire. He said many celebrities used to go to a clinic upstairs and then come down to the pharmacy. They had a special system to handle the celebrities quickly. Many were the cowboy and comedian stars of the day. He never could give me a very complete list, but he did mention Marjorie Main and John Wayne. Dad was fond of USC and often talked about his conversations with Dr. Rufus Von Kleinsmid. After my dad's passing, I found out that Dr. Von Kleinsmid was the one who personally awarded Walt Disney his honorary degree. My brother told me that my dad used to talk to John Wayne about USC football and Milton Berle also stopped by.
"Howard the Duck" bahahaha! Love that you made this vid. I lived in Florida my whole life and went to MGM regularly. I now live in Los Angeles and have seen many of the original versions of these first-hand now, most of them were "oh shit!" moments when I made the connections. You just showed me even more to look for. Thanks!!
Very interesting and informative. Adam, I really appreciate all of the hard work you did putting this together for us. It's nice to know why the buildings were built the way they were.
Thanks so much for this one! Yet another shining example of what makes Disney stand out and another reason to tell my friends WHY we keep going back. Take the time to smell the roses at WDW and of course look up!
Awesome video! Loved how you showed the picture of the real place...but sometimes I thought it was the same place....It is amazing how close they replicate the buildings! Another great video!
Excellent video! I've only recently started watching your stuff (both channels), and I'm a fan already. And now a subscriber too! You're definitely not the only two that love the old school "MGM". It saddens me to think how much more of the original park we might lose (RIP Backlot, Earffel Tower, and Great Movie Ride) in the name of "progress". Same for Epcot. WDW in the early to mid 90s was a huge part of my childhood. My family use to go every year. I'm finally going back in January after nearly 14 years and it's going to be very bittersweet.
Thank you for the amount of time it took to put this together as it was full of facts and real research and knowledge of the park. A well put together vlog. Again great work.
Really enjoyed this video Adam. Never made a comment before. Thank you for the work you do, but this was was really really interesting. Didn't realise the buildings were replicated. Rachel & Kevin
Greatly detailed comparative correlation compilation of details ATW,.....Thank You. ( this video also shows the depth of research background many of Adams efforts have) Great Work Woo....
Got to give you a lot of props for all the leg work you did for this video! I spent a lot of time working on that street taking pictures as a photopass photographer. I miss that like crazy, but teaching it has it's perks.
I've been going there since I was a kid. I can't tell you when the next time I will be there, but I'm pretty sure its probably going to look a lot different the next time I go. I'd love to see you do the extra part for the Indiana Jones show by the by. I'm sure you'd ham it up!
I liked the Firehouse the best. The original still looks like something today you would definitely notice and appreciate the architecture, so unique and retro 20s completely. Great.
Wow !!! That was awesome Adam !! I think this one was one of my favorites !!! I've never got to see either one of these in person . So thanks for sharing your Columbo like instinct's and sharing all of that information . I love all the old Hollywood building's . I hope someday I get to see that in person , in Hollywood and in FL. Thanks Adam the Woo....!!
Wow, so much info... I did not realize they copied the designs so closely... I just thought it was general architectural inspiration! BTW, nice meeting you at the studios yesterday!
Great vlog very informative. Its really neat to see the connection between the real buildings and the ones in the park. I can't wait until i get to go back. I haven't been since 2011.
Interesting!!! Amazing History and it's cool how the architects are able to combine the buildings to compliment each other. Very Creative! Thanks Adam the Woo.
Thanks for watching . This was a lot of fun to do
Excellent vlog! Is the building architecture also called "California crazy"? It also looks like Are-Deco to me. Again, great vid.
no, thank woo !!!
adamthewoo Great vid Adam. enjoy ur day. ❤
Nicely done

I am a big fan of "Art Deco" design. I just love the recreations that Walt had built. Thank You Adam for filming them !!! Was that Gloria Swanson with her Oscar ? Awesome ! :)
They put a lot of detail into them thats for sure. To be fair tho walt wasn't around when the idea for this park started to be tossed around tho
Gloria Swanson played the part of "Norma Desmond" in the 1950 movie "Sunset Boulevard" :)
:)
Here is a site that is very helpful and has so much info on actors and movies (including bio, trivia, goofs, filming locations, soundtrack etc. imdb.com

It was awesome meeting you yesterday! And I never knew that all of the building were recreations of ones out in Hollywood area that's cool.
Your research always pays off. Give us more on-the-road destinations that challenge our Columbo-like skills. We appreciate everything you do.

Fantastic work! What a great video, thank you so much for all that you do!
On man! Pluto is my favorite - I love that dog!! Don't see him often. Thanks Adam. Your vids are the best!!
The Warner Bros helped Disney back in the day. That was probably his homage to them.
Thank you Adam! Your research skills are fascinating.
Very inormative vlog! Much appreciated. Thank you Adam!
Such a great video. Keep up the excellent work!
Your love for MGM (and what's left of it) is so great! It's still one of my favorite parks and the theming has a lot to do with it.
Been there many times and like most people been oblivious to the buildings/meanings - now it all makes sense!
Adam all I can say is todays vlog is fantastic what a great way to start my day. Until next time.
Very cool....that was a lot of information, but really fun to see the comparisons. Thanks, Adam.
That was amazing! I love the architecture and the details Disney puts into the recreations of historical places. Very interesting indeed. Thanks Adam.
Great Blog Adam. Very informative and entertaining.
