I personally love using the slab marksman, both for the reason i just really like it, and to forceload my slab sharpshooter. I might create a Slab Marksman video off this at somepoint after the screwdriver one. keep the content up, its really well made
@prep5181 Not a problem brother! Also the screwdriver vid i made after watching yours (wellmade btw. I enjoyed it a ton) is out, so thats an option lol
As a Slab Marksman enjoyer, I must also add that each slabcoin (basically a splitcoin for the slab shot) will ALSO add another hitscan shot to the coin, on top of the coin's damage addition. What was once 2.5 damage with the regular pistol becomes 3.5 for a slab without hitting the slabcoin (because the slab fires 2 hitscans instead of one, each hitscan receives the +0.5 damage bonus, increasing each hitscan from 1.25 to 1.75. Together that makes = 3.5). On top of that, as mentioned previously, hitting the slabcoin will add an additional hitscan, and that hitscan will receive the same coin damage bonus. This means each slabcoin is dealing 5.25 damage, which is incidentally 0.25 total damage better than the regular pistol, only it's dealt to one enemy instead of broken up into two. Regardless, this adds up quickly. It can one-shot schisms, streetcleaners (regardless of where the coin hits), radiant soldiers, and radiant strays (all pests in later cybergrind levels). Two slabcoins on a virtue will kill it and one coin punch on a sentry into a slabcoin will kill it. It's more damage than any rocket or projectile boost can pull off against a single enemy by only exhausting a single coin. All four coins gives 21 total damage. This isn't to say that it's directly better, but it has way less of a niche than everyone implies. I personally like using it more than regular pistol. I hope you come around to having a change of heart for it if or when you do give it a try in the campaign or on the cybergrind.
I disagree. The marksman is very, very useful, but I wouldn't say it's the best weapon. Core targeting is nice, but you can also just improve your aim, so it comes down to preference. But my biggest gripe with the marksman and what I consider its biggest weakness to be is also it's main feature: the auto-targeting. It is very difficult to get it to hit what you want it to in chaotic situations, and with how important enemy prioritization is, I would rather take more consistent damage options like the shotgun. Yes, splitshots do a lot of damage, yes auto-targeting is a life saver for evasive enemies, but the marksman will always be the last gun I pull out when I'm scared for my life. I don't need it targeting two strays when 3 mindflayers are on my ass.
P-2 highlights this issue dramatically. In the double mindflayer room all my coins seem to target is the idoled mindflayers when I need them to hit the swordmachines
Coins can still shine against 3 mindflayers especially if you railcoin one of them and splitcoinning can still be viable because it attacks the nearest enemies, if you want it to target the mindflayers then you can separate yourself from the fodder enemies and then it will aim for the mindflayers
@@prep5181 I'm not specifically talking about mindflayers and I have no gripes with railcoining. I treat the marksman as a nuke option - I most often use it for railcoins and slabcoins, and occasionally use it to clean up fodder. My point is it's not the best weapon for general use and is a bit too specialized to be considered the "best" weapon.
At the end of the day, what matters is the cost-benefit between an enemy's health, the time you spend killing it, and the cooldowns you spend doing so. I'm a Slab Marksman enjoyer. Slabcoining can kill the most threatening enemies like virtues and sentries without spending any valuable resources. Unlike Mindflayers who have variably counter-able attacks, the two I listed force you to approach them first. Otherwise they're damage engines. They're very good at controlling space better than any enemy in the game. I say the biggest mistake is using coins to kill fodder, when in reality you should see them as parry engines that help you more than they hurt you. That's why I support the slab marksman over the regular marksman.
Marksman can also chargeback the gutterman's minigun hitscans. This can be proven in 2 ways. 1: throwing a coin into the line of fire 2: using a mod that allows you to change what hitscan is used (I use ultrachaos to randomize beams (hitscans) and then make it so that only 1 hitscan is possible (the gutterman hitscan)) then shooting a coin.
yknow i didn't really consider the marksman that great (because i don't use it nearly enough (i will be using it more now)) but the points you brought up were genuinely REALLY good. im convinced. marksmans the best weapon.
also i just noticed your most popular video, if it makes you feel better, i also got tons of backlash from my (and my collaborators) take on the screwdriver lol
I don’t think it’s the best weapon, but it’s core to Ultrakills identity. Ultrakill just wouldn’t be the same stylish-fast paced game without it. And it is actually difficult to use coins, it’s just that we all practice the skill. The effort to output ratio is balanced, unlike some other weapons (sawblade launchers)
although i have favorites, i don't think there really is a definitive "best" weapon in the whole game. not a worst either. they serve their purpose and every weapon shines just as much as the next if you're actually using it properly
jumpstart is the best, then overpump, then i would say ce, freezeframe then maybe you can make an argument for marksman. idk why i expect anything from UK youtube
If u guys want weapon reviews on other weapons then I might do them except for slab marksman because i hate using that thing
slabsman is good tho (but i understand you reason for not liking it)
he likes crowd control over single enemy damage

yeah... so alt marksman is just a "fuck it, we ball" weapon.
facinating how weak it can be without splitshot

to be clear, it's actually the Sawed On Shotgun

by itself the jumpstart takes the cake. with synergy the jumpstart is freaking busted. but the marksman is even CRAZIER

Normal ultrakill gameplay: i cast a nuke with 4 quarters
False info, tried throwing 4 coins in the air and shoot them but they just fell to the ground, they didnt ricoshot to my boss. 0/10
