I was thinking same thing. 😅😂I'm a huge fan of Greg's, though. Clinics playing solo drums aren't really geared towards show how to play with a group and get/keep gigs.
I can assure you he knows how to play with taste, groove, and WITH his bandmates. He is one of the great drummers to play with Ray Brown, Roy Hargrove, etc. Check him out holding down this shuffle for 24 minutes behind the other master bandmates. In the pocket, solid, driving, interacting in a musical way.

Brilliant. He plays licks that may not be conventially considered "difficult" (that's a topic for another conversation) yet he plays with such ease. The amount of control he has in his hands and feet is out of this world.

There are many reasons why this is so excellent....so inspirational and why I return to it so often. It stands head & shoulders above most drum videos on YT. It's the soul of it...the feel. The joy in his playing. It has so much invention yet because Greg is utilizing the rudiments so expressively it's still so clearly anchored in a mastery of technique. Most YT drum videos make me want to give up... this makes me want to play more!
