Once you've got the gas tank installed, make sure to watch out for getting t-boned or for NBC TV cameras. I've heard that NBC likes making these trucks explode
Artistic License .......Plate ! Your 3D game is top notch. I have no doubt by the time you are done and your other talent to capture little trucks on film will make this Illusion of scale a brain bender.
Those front skis look large enough to work on the front of your HPI BAJA 5B then just get some rear Paddles for the 5B Buggy rear or the slightly narrower 5SC Truck ones, just need to print a mounting system. I enjoy the What's on the Bench episodes, loving the Snow Mobile, wishing I had a 3D printer and the know how to use one.
I'd say they're all worth waiting for. CUCV and the snowmobile are looking really good. I bought my kids the TRX4M for Christmas as their first crawlers and proper hobby grade RCs, so seeing what you've got in store for that will be nice to see.
Love the cucv. Great work. That bumper came out great. Sure coming along. The snowmobile is very cool to. Rings eh. Maybe I'll start a wedding band collection hahaha. A ring for every mood/occasion. I am getting a printers. Can't remember the name.. its from my local hobby shop. They carry the Mars rezin printer (spelt that wrong). So I am going to print stuff... for things hahaha
I think for fun to mess with people. Attach a cord from the transmitter to the top of the truck or bed. Just like one of the very first RCs. The Grey truck looks good.
I'm really liking the progress on the cucv. That brush guard is a mighty fine detail. Last weekend I decided to give fusion 360 another go, so me and Lars Chrisrensen spent the day together. 😂 And I successfully designed his electrical box with the lid designed, and printed. I'm looking forward to learning more. What speed are you typically printing at?
Thanks for watching! Fusion 360 takes some getting used to, but it's pretty amazing. I'm typically pringint at 60mm/sec for perimeter, infill as fast as 200mm/sec.
U need to add a set of beauty bands for the wheels.. we always called the rally wheels.. and your favorite place rc4wd had them.. (don’t ask me how I know) but they actually look good 👍. Nice job Matt on the build can’t wait to see it finished!
That truck is looking good. Can’t wait to see how you install it. I bought a chassis off eBay and realized it’s 10mm wider than what I thought. So all my printed stuff isn’t wide enough. Did you say calipers Watson?
In the “U.S “military they called them cut v’s. Those cut outs are for night driving they were blue lights you could turn off all your lights but those black out lights. And you could follow someone in pitch dark and the blue light doesn’t travel far and show your position.
@@scalebuildersguild your quite welcome. I enjoy your channel a great deal. You show everyone that there is so much more to the hobby than just crawling and bashing. Cheers and keep the great content coming.
The wait will be well worth it to see both of these machines done!! I am building a rex racer k10 long bed on a cmax chassis and I would be interested to know where you placed the leaf spring mounts to get the proper wheelbase.
You should put an old clapped out brushed Titan motor with a burned out XL-5 ESC in it to replicate the non-turbo diesels in this trucks. Got to be scale accurate! :) Really nice build!
I am concerned that lowering the air filter housing is going to restrict air flow to the carb, also is that gas tank going to be safe? seems a little thin. I would add the second fuel door and fill neck even without the tank, because most people would say I never use the rear tank, witch was why the rear tank never works and we're missing half the time.
The CUCV looks very nice so far. That being said I it's hard to look past the fact that the CUCV should have the 80's front clip, similar to a clod body.GM used a different hood, front fenders, bumper and grill from 81 and newer. I think that is when they changed to new style dash and door panels too. Also, to nail the scale look you gotta have the GM style steel wheels. Idk if anyone makes them though. I'm not saying this doesn't look great and most people probably wouldn't even notice these details. Again, great job so far!
Have you done much research on the Canadian variant? That's what I'm referencing most of the time when I can. They were much fewer and farther between!
@@scalebuildersguild far as I know Canada built a Malibu Chevelle that had a different front grill different facia for 66,67 kinda looked like a pontiac from the front not sure I’ve only seen one of them back in the 80s. On the p/u not sure but im about to make sure though kinda curious now. As far as I know the basic body style I don’t think would change. I think it would be too costly to change allthe stamping dies for the sheet metal. I glad you didn’t take all of the wrong way cause i mean well. Lol

Time to get a faster printer... The Bambu X1 Carbon prints 4x faster than my Prusa, on it's normal speed. On max speed it finishes the boat benchy in 17 minutes compared to 93 on my Ender 3 S1 and Prusa.

The CUCV look's fantastic. Can't wait to see the final results.

Start with the middle of the print temperature range on the spool and adjust from there. Don’t just use the print profile default temperature.

Were you able to check out the CUCV wheels on Cults? I believe there were some on Thingiverse also. I haven't found any metal 8 lug wheels.

The bumper is scale for an 1981 -1987. The truck you have is 1973 - 1980 only 80 had square headlights to be scale
