- This is the Moto RAZR 2024, the least expensive version of Motorola's latest foldable, and what I'm gonna call maybe one of best phones you should consider right now. I know, this is not the RAZR+ review. More on that one later. I'm talking about the one that's priced like a mid-ranger, but then looks and behaves like a flagship in almost every way.. how's the battery life so far?
@@abdulharis9556 I've had the phone a few days, the battery life is pretty good, most times my phone is closed so it saves battery since I can text via the exterior screen.

This orange 2024 razr is causing me to switch to Android from iPhone. It's fantastic so far. Your review pretty much nails it I think.

Had the razer plus last year. Never had an issues with it and the phone was cool and fun to use.

When came this phone out ? I ordered one from France because it is not available in Germany or limited quantities for high price
I had the phone for less than 6 months before the screen protector bubbled and then the phone cracked at the fold. I loved it until it fell apart and Motorola's response was essentially "you shouldn't have folded your folding phone".

I'm a cricket store manager and I have two phones. The moto g stylus 5g 2024 and the razr 2024. Paid 20 for the stylus and 100 for the razr. This Christmas we've got some awesome deals for moto phones. I recommend the stylus and razr to all my customers

I just bought this phone and I am enjoying it. I am sure why reviewers always focus on the "camera", like most people I wear glasses and can't define differences between this camera and a "flagship" camera. Great review m8.

Geat review! Pretty darn impressive midrange foldable from Motorola. Now only if they could get their software update game together they might have a real winning combination.
I hate the compromises from different manufacturers.
2024 Razr+ supports Smart Connect (formerly known as Ready For) but only has a USB 2.0 port.
2024 Galaxy Z Flip 6 has a USB 3.2 port but doesn't support Samsung Dex.

Love the Razr+. Wish I would've saved money and went with the regular Razr though. I really wanted that Orange, but for some reason FOMO kicked in and I needed the Plus variant. Now that I have it, I realize the standard Razr would have been plenty fine for my needs, especially since it's my 'weekend' phone. My workweek phone will always be a OnePlus Open or similar folder (as long as they keep making them).
I REALLY loved my HTC max, OnePlus has some phones that seem to scratch a similar itch for me but I'm sticking with Motorola for my daily driver

I've heard so many mixed reviews on these foldable phones as far as the durability, but I love the concept of having a large phone that can be folded and conserve more space in the pocket, might just have to try this one out
I've had mine for 5 or 6 weeks now. No issues with the foldable screen so far.
Also the main screen is well protected. Unless you get anything between it.
I'd get something between it.

The 2024 has a better hinge than the 2023, which often had people suffer a pebble getting g stuck in there and destroying the screen.

$552 at t-mobile and less with a trade-in. Pretty sweet deal. Getting a brand new foldable for ~$400 is pretty crazy

It's even cheaper at other places too! Consumer cellular has it right now for 399.00 & easy pay cricket & others 199.00 , I'm waiting for it on Boost at the moment should be arriving in August, I been waiting for a fair priced flip to launch with a good size cover display to get on the bandwagon & this should be it to take me away from iphone for a while, They really upgraded this from the 2023 base razr.
It's at cricket if I upgrade my phone to it for $299.99 and 199.99 with a phone number
I just got mine from straight talk and they are offering it at $400. I was shocked! I know it's a couple months old now, but spec wise it's better in every way than my Pixel 7a besides maybe the camera which I'm just not a photogenic guy to begin with so I don't care. I just hope the speakers are good. It's my biggest downside to my current phone. If I wanna listen to Spotify without my headphones, I want it to be thumpin. Lol well as thumpin as a smartphone can get.

I recently got the Motorola Razr- 2024, and so far it is awesome! Totally worth $699 for a flip phone and it seems like a good price it's still expensive, but Z Flip 6 for $400 more doesn’t seem worth it imo.
Right choice mate. I bought one too. Germany does not have this phone right now or very lit in Quantity for high price. So i ordered one from France with same price now.
The 2024 is worth his price and never would spend more for a phone...

How much do both models differ in energy consumption? There are different processors. Which model will live longer and for how much longer?

I have an old s21+ as a backup phone. T-Mobile is offering $500 trade for it, on the 2024 Razr, priced at $552. So I pre-ordered. My main phone is still an s24 Ultra, but it will be fun to try a foldable.
My main is a galaxy fold 6. And I was thinking of this device as my backup as well. lol
I got it from cricket for $270, 1st month included, so $200 for it ($10 or so in taxes).

Why wait for perfect when you could be using it now?

r @samuelhere41 Exactly. Besides the fact that the current leaders in the folding phone space are asking way too much money.
I am not compelled to ever be any kind of "early adopter". Even though foldables are not purely brand new at the moment, too many compromises over most all versions and a poor price target means I shall stick with my S23Ultra for a while longer. :)

@joesatchton212 oh yeah, definitely, the s23 ultra is basically the supreme phone . I'll probably also continue to wait at least another 2 or 3 years for them to improve with these foldables, I'd really love to try one out but I do not want to be left with a broken phone on my counter.
@@samuelhere41 Yeah brotha. I look at this stuff like this: with something like the S23Ultra, I pretty much have a confidence score of 95+ out of 100 that the thing is gonna keep working perfectly fine for years to come.
With all of the current foldables, my personal confidence score for all of them is maybe 75-80 out of 100 that they will continue to function across the board as normal.
That score, right or wrong, combined with the extremely high asking prices [OK, maybe similar to S23U] means I would be taking an expensive risk on foldables right now.
Yes, I do like the concept of both flip book style and snap open Star Trek communicator-like devices.
They've come a long way in a few years. IMO, they need a couple more years to prove themselves to me and my wallet.

Thank you for this review. As with last year, almost all reviews were about the Ultra/+ version. It was so difficult to find a comprehensive review of last year's budget model and I was having trouble with it for this year's model too.

Im 28. My first smartphone was the HTC one max circa 2014. Loved that phone, but by the time I needed to replace it, HTC had stopped making phones. Then, I swapped to LG. LG stopped making phones, my wife had been happy with her Motorola's since switching from iPhone, so I decided to give it a try, and I've been very happy. Just ordered my razr today, as a teen I had one of my parents OG razrs when they swapped to smartphones 😂
how can i continue using the app when i closed it? i saw some reviews that when browsing it continues folded. i wanna try it on games so i can continue playing on the small screen without starting it again.

I switched from iPhone after having them from the 4s-14pro max. The 14 developed the white screen of death. Out of frustration I switched to this orange Razr about a month ago and I'm so glad I did! Everyone wants to see it and flip it. Its almost nostalgic having a cool phone again.

i finally gave in to moto razr 2024 over a pixel phone simply because of its playful use and the compact size.
I found an Open Boxed one (Excellent Condition) at a local Best Buy for $375 and just went back and forth in my head trying to commit and eventually did. I’m an avid iPhone user and the only thing that’s selling me on android is folding phones so I’m giving it a shot. I’m hoping I’m not wrong. It’ll only be used as a work phone too.
Ive already committed to the razr and I'm a pretty big fan of Motorola and android in general but I'm curious about some follow up on your experience? I got my wife to convert from iPhone to Android and she hasn't looked back.
@ my use on the device is minimal since I use it for work related purposes only. But I think Ive used it enough to give some comments on it. Camera leaves quite a bit to be desired compared to my iPhone but that’s like comparing a Movado watch to a Casio one. They’re in different leagues basically. Another thing that I hope will be upgraded in future versions is a bigger battery, or, software improvements for battery life. It seems that light use still drains battery but I can still make through the day with about 20% left. The outside screen is a game changer, honestly, it’s the reason I wanted to try Android again after 10 or so years. I use that outside screen for so many things I don’t even need to open up the phone most of the time. Though, for others, that may not be as big an upside as it is for me. I’m constantly needing to reply to Teams messages and emails and doing so quickly on the outside screen is soooo helpful. My only real concern on the phone is (as with all foldable phones) the degradation of the screen along the hinge. Using the outside screen should mitigate that issue for a bit longer than it normally would start to appear. But it’s a concern nonetheless.
The Moto Razr 2024 reminded me of how much I miss Android, how much fun Android is, and I much I ENJOY Android. If you can pick one of these up for less than MSRP, you’re aware of potential screen issues on foldable smartphones and they don’t bother you that much, go for it. Seriously, go for it.

Just got my orange Razr two days ago and i love it. I was a Apple customer for years, and this phone is a breath of fresh air. My only gripe is the battery life of the Razr
Its been a foldable life for me for the last few years but bookstyle. A few things worry me about motorola clamshells...repairing the screen protector before a year, the camera being inconsistent and their software update schedule running on just vibes. That aside? If i got a clamshell? This would be it.
I switched from the iPhone 13 to the Samsung Ultra 23 to the Razr 2024. I love being excited about tech. Apple has lost that. I use it because I'm part of the ecosystem with my computer and iPad...

I literally not sure, they both some like pretty cool devices.
Main reason for me is just having the flip for nostalgia and being able to use Spotify whilst it’s closed like an MP3 player lol.

This phone is crazy good, and on Straight Talk it’s $350. That’s A LOT of phone for the money.
I still have my 2023 Razr+, had it a little over a year now. There is some wear on the center of the screen, but nothing unexpected, and it really isn't noticeable unless you're purposely looking for it. It has been dropped, slid, lightly rained on, went to the beach, used with dirty work hands, etc. They can take some abuse. My main gripe with it was how long it took to upgrade Android.
My problem is the volume on the 2023 Razor. Please tell me they have improved volume. Hard to listen to music without respectable volume.
Had other phones. Motorola is the best IMO. Best for clear connection , less drop , phone calls, decent pix, good tex . That's what matters most for me. Happy to see this phone and plan to get one. Was always a fan of the flip phone. Never lost / misplaced it as it was always in a pocket or purse. HATE carrying around a large cell phone in my hand. Makes no sense . Thanks for the review !
I want this thing but I'm wondering if I should get the plus or the regular. The regular is sounding good but I've never had luck with mediatek years ago. up till 2020 anyways haven't used any new stuff.

Been using the Z Flip 4 for almost 2 years now and i enjoy how compact It is but want to upgrade to the a newer version for the front screen. I've had 2 screen protectors bubble up on the hinge and that's what annoys me immensely about this phone and I'm curious to know if this is an issue with either of these. Only reason I'm not sold on the Motorola just yet is due to the support or lack thereof.
Are the application not running full screen on the external display? I keep seeing applications running above the main cameras only on the non plus razr. Would be good to clarify.
You can change it to full screen or above the camera by holding the swipe button.
Does it make sense to buy the RAZR 50 in case I can get a used 40 ultra for half the price? I struggle to find any selling points, beside of the AOD.

I don’t know you said night time use with the video camera could’ve been better so I wish you’d shown some samples. Because the video samples you showed looked really good in my opinion but you say it’s a pretty bad video camera which seems rather harsh.
Getting mine at CRICKET new customer and plan included only gonna cost $329 ❤ switching from long life of iPhone and returning my iPhone 14 to T-Mobile this weekend. I had the galaxy z flip for a bit and it’s sooo nice, I prefer it over Apple. 😊😮

Motorola Razr 2024 looks like a game-changer. The 120Hz display and powerful Dimensity 7300x processor make it a joy to use. Plus, the dual screens are super convenient.
Video recording looks great to me. Much better than last year's shaky results.
Got this phone today at boost mobile for $199 $280 after all the tax an bs but still loved the phone from the sec I seen it in the store had no idea what I wanted today when I walked in but honestly it was between this phone and the coach prime edition phone they had idk the exact model. Been extremely happy with the phone so far today but I did just notice that it doesn't have a headphone jax just so y'all know
This is the best Motorola has done on their folding phones so far. But, I’m still not sold on a foldable phone because I worry about long term durability. It’s good to hear Jaime actually talk about call quality because only one or two tech reviewers will ever talk about the phone part of smartphones. I even laughed at Jaime’s landline phone reference, kids today won’t get it 😂. Motorola seriously needs to improve their software support and how fast and long phones get the updates. That’s the only thing holding Motorola back.

Motorola just pushed an update which added the retro mode to the Razr 24' . Which it didn't have at launch.
I have one coming in mail next day or two, switching to the 24 from a s23 ultra. Hope it dont let me down cuz samsung did and verizon sure as hell did. 😅 And that selfie video looked super crispy to me 🤔
Razr phones get heavy price drops within 6 months after release.
No point in paying $1,000 when I can wait for the price to drop to $600-$700 before the year is over.

I'll tell you I had a problem with my screensaver. I contacted Motorola and they set me up at the appointment to have it fixed for free. Motorola is all right after all.
Can you stretch out UA-cam videos to eliminate the black sides of the screen like you can on my Galaxy S20? Thx
that's a feature of the UA-cam app, it works on any phone
Love these phones as soon as I seen them! I work at cricket so definitely getting that discount on top of discount to get one 😂 but I will be switching from iPhone but definitely seems worth it
So I bought a Samsung galaxy flip 4 absolutely loved the form factor and how weirdly it massively reduced my screen time… but just couldn’t get away with the terrible cameras, as a father of two young kids decent cameras are kind of essential. I’ve been waiting for Google to bring a flip phone out replace my current daily driver of a Pixel 8 pro…. But I’ve gotta be honest, at this price point… I’m seriously considering this Motorola as I think the cameras might just be enough and I’m not going to have to fork out a fortune to change to it.

I just put in an order for one. Thanks for your review, it justified my decision. It's not easy giving up my iPhone 13 for this...but I am taking the leap. I love the foldable form factor, having used the original Razr in 2004. I am just tired of carrying around these large bricks and Apple's decision to keep their phones larger and with no flip phone on the the horizon, I just gave up and moved over to the "dark side".

My experience and take on this phone.
I wasnt even looking for a new phone or any phone at all when I was in best buy yesterday just to hang out. Coming from Iphone user, I have 16 pro bought couple months back.
And this phone made me feel that I would choose this over Iphone 16 pro.
My reason and needs being, I dont use my phone for gaming purpose. Not even much about camera and all.
Just the fact how compact it looked, and knowing its gonna go in my pocket so easily and out of it. I am still thinking to trade my Iphone for this.
That 3.6" AI-powered display is going to make everything pop! Excited to see how the Dimensity 7300X chip handles it!

As a ZFlip5 user I can only say that it makes no sense to have a flip phone from Samsung as the SW is crippling its usability. What is the benefit of regular updates when SW in general doesn't account for the flip factor/possibilities?!

How does the update policy (3 years) compare to the reality of software updates. And I mean vulnerability patching.
Well for context, last years RAZR just got Android 14... Don't think security patches are any better
Not the same phone, but my Moto think phone gets regular monthly security updates.
My 40 ultra has had the bimonthly updates on time os I'm still waiting for,I do have another phone with Android 14,I can't tell the difference between them,I still use my Razr as my daily phone.
I have a G84 which is a mid to budget phone and I'm on Android 14, also get regular security updates. I can't see a more expensive phone not having the same
You can 100% make calls from the outer screen.
Not flagship updates tho.
