    If you don't wear it daily sun and rain or ride a motorcycle in the sun and rain... Your only option to distress it is leaving it outside to the sun and rain. Nothing breaks in leather like wearing it in the rain and the letting it dry on you.

      Using it to beat a grass fire out also works fairly well for a cowhide leather biker jacket.

    "Just wear it for 30 years, that's the real way to do it!" Yeah, okay, So if you wanna have a nice distressed jacket you better buy one when you're 20 so it can look good by the time you're 50 lmfao

      Mn. Thnig is, Vicious' Perfecto was bought new during the ill-fated January '78 tour of the USA, and he died in February 79, so he didn't have long to break it in...

    The jacket looks stiff. A high lanolin leather soap treatment followed by mink oil. Wear jacket in the rain and sun. Keep up mink oil. Jacket will fade from shoulders down but remain supple like lamb skin. Some of my jackets are over 50 years and better than new.

    So many hate comments here. I agree about what he's doin here. Not everyone wearing leather jacket everyday. Some people like used / worn look and dont have time to wear their leather jacket till the patinas come out. Schott did the same method with their line up called " Schott Per70". This guy knows what he's doing. It's for fashion sake guys. Just take it ez

    What does the ironing do to the jacket? Does it shrink it??

    • @wilsjane
      @wilsjane 7 років тому +10

      Heat hardens and shrinks leather, but it needs to be heavy cowhide and kept oiled to survive without cracking up, Sid had plenty of experience, both from Nancy using his jacket to stub her cigarettes out and from the day that she set their bed in the hotel alight and he had to roll on it and put the flames out with his leather jacket and pants. No doubt that is why his leathers are so unique and sell for a small fortune.

    • @stonecoldaustinlee5159

      @@wilsjane is this a true story or is this sarcasm?

    • @wilsjane
      @wilsjane 5 років тому +1

      +Stone Cold Austin Lee. Their were several stories of Nancy smoking while drunk and stoned when she set the bed alight and she and Sid just rolled on it to to stop the whole bed catching alight.
      On one occasion, the hotel fire alarms triggered and Sid continued smothering the flames with his leather jeans to prevent the flames erupting while security rushed off to find a fire extinguisher.
      In the past, firefighters also wore leather jackets and many older guys say that they withstood the heat and embers better than the modern uniforms.
      A few years ago, their was a case where a racing biker received serious burs when hid bike caught on fire. However his leathers did not burn through and his injuries were caused by the nylon lining melting onto his skin. It is hard to believe the stupidity of the company who manufactured his leathers.

    • @stonecoldaustinlee5159
      @stonecoldaustinlee5159 5 років тому

      @@wilsjane Yea was just wondering if that was a true story that's some wild ass shit I see why his brand is valued But yea I heard that nascar drivers have certain leather shoes that are specifically designed to protect from fire

    • @wilsjane
      @wilsjane 5 років тому

      The flame proof overalls worn by racing car drivers are very controversial, since while they do not burn, they offer almost no protection against the heat.
      Many drivers wear wool long johns and then denim jeans under them to add to the protection and it protects them for much longer.
      Protection from flames AND heat is quite a complex issue.
      I am not surprised about the shoes, I have heard of sneakers catching alight and melting when just stomping out a small camp fire.

    • @wilsjane
      @wilsjane 4 роки тому +9

      Sid Vicious added a lot of distress to his leathers by using them to stub his cigarettes out, or leaving them burning on the leather, rather than bothering with an ashtray.
      On one occasion, he and Nancy set fire to their hotel bed. When security arrived, they were casually rolling on the bed and snuffing the flames out with their leather jeans. They managed to put the mattress out, before the fire department arrived, LOL.

    ??? Wear your mc jacket. break it in yourself. I'm in no way was or part of the punk culture but I know enough to know to vintage your clothes for a markup in price is no means of being part of the culture, as this man is dressed. If its a fashion statement then ok (him or the jacket). By all means put it in the dryer, clip off the zipper pulls and teeth and markup the price. But don't pass yourself (the jacket) off of that unique culture, by throwing "Sid Vicious' " name into the description. You're in effect patronizing it. I might add the jacket does look nice at the end. but I wouldn't pull off the teeth in the zipper.
