When I bought my 140 it had a bolted on tailwheel bracket. Turns out the bolts used were too big and damaged the tailpost. Had to pull the whole mess off, install a new tailpost, tailwheel bracket and rear bulkhead. Too many of these old 140s had the tail wheels broken off and the rudder damaged. Mine had that too (rudder damage) and some dunderhead in decades past decided to cobble together a repair and while he was at it decided put a wood stiffener in the rudder. If you can believe it.
Anyway, all is fixed now properly with rivets. It is amazing how poorly some people treat these old airplanes.
By the way, I agree with an earlier post that the Scott 2000 springs needs to be tensioned. Other tailwheels no….but the 2000 does.
    Great video. Thanks!

The Scott bulletin (I-115) says stretch spring approx 1" for a tension of 25-30 pounds. That tailwheel looks like it was set up correctly.

Hey Dan, Please post this bulletin, I have never seen it and the instruction you get with the springs have a note saying "Note: Tension on connector spring is not required or advisable. Use sufficient chain links to remove slack in each connector assembly."
When these spring are over tensioned premature wear on the steering arm, rudder control arm (especially if the are stamped sheet metal like on a Cessna 120/140/170) I have always set them up with a SLIGHT amount to no tension/no slack and never had any issues with them.

@@TheArctictern YT won't allow links but if you search 'Scott I-115 Univair' they have a copy posted.
The 2000 (or 3-24B) uses springs 2134 that are included in the kit 2151.
The 3200 uses different springs in the 3239 kit and that spring/chain should have no tension.

      @@dcannon1 Hey Dan,
Thanks, I have never seen this one before. I have always dealt with the 3200, usually removing the 2000...BUT this spring was stretch way more than an inch. I bet it was stretched at least 2. I was so much that there was no way I was going to be able to remove it without cutting the chain. Thanks for your input! I have now downloaded that document to my files!
